  1. The 727 can be either set up to use glass cockpit displays, or steam gauges. There isn't any FMC, but if you create a flight plan (or at least load one in FS), it will give you a moving map. You can also set the autopilot to follow the flightplan.:-)EDIT: And there are no bugs that I've encountered with the plane. Ever since it's release, it's been a perfect stable flier!
  2. If you like military jets, try the demo of Cloud9's Phantom, I just downloaded it the other day, and it looks really good. I also agree that Dreamfleet's 727 is grrrrrreat! I don't see the textures needing work, but that's just me. It's an awesome simulation of the 727.For modern airliners, I'd say that the Level-D 767 takes the cake. The level of systems simulation is stunning. Grab the new VC textures that Andre Folkers put on level-D's site, along with his version 3 repaints, and you'll be one happy customer. For GA aircraft, the Dorner as mentioned is probably my favorite that I've flown. it's slow, but very realistic. I'm hoping it opens armchair pilots' eyes to how one operates a real airplane. For old fighters (WWII era), the Wings of Power fighter collection may be what your looking for. They are a lot of fun!
  3. Hi Ludo,Definitely sounds like an AFCAD problem. Try downloading a new one, and see if that fixes the problem (http://afcad.projectai.com/). Seeya - Paul
  4. It's understandable, and this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. This is in good weather:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0387816/L/I can easily see how they made the mistake. Don't be to quick to judge.- Paul
  5. I love those new keys. A family member owns a Mercedes SL500 with a key that doesn't even use tumblers. Just stick it into a shallow slot, and your good to go. You don't even need to use a tradional key for a door. I love it.Off topic, but I love everything automotive. haha
  6. I'm curious about that myself. I called the Walmart in Tempe, but the kid on the phone, when asked, got a little snippy with me and said that they didn't have it.
  7. Thanks for the info! To bad the last updates they posted were over a year ago...Seeya! - Paul
  8. Hey all,I think I read awhile ago that there was a payware developer (NOT JustFlight) that was doing a L1011...with the systems-lovers in mind. Now my question is, did I just imagine that, or is there someone out there doing one? If so, who? Thanks! - Paul
  9. Whoo hoo! Thanks for the info! I'm gonna go vote now!Seeya! - Paul
  10. I'd love to have the 3-bladed prop model (I don't know which model it was)! But, that would take (I assume) a lot of work to redo the flight dynamics...Seeya! - Paul
  11. How weren't they a help? I'll be the first to admit that I don't have any (recent) experince with Ariane, but what did they say? Like a basic "f* off", or did they ask you for information you can't (or don't know how to) provide? All I'm sayin' is don't put down the developer (no matter how bad their reputation), without actually giving more specifics...and I guess this is not so much to you, as to everyone who is going to jump on this thread bashing them. Don't. Not without the full story.About the FMC issue...well, like I said, how weren't they helpful? That'd be a good place to start.Seeya! - Paul
  12. The Starship is a sad story. After they sort of flopped in sales, Beech discontinued the line, and attempted to purchase them all back. However, there is one guy (I think in Arizona...maybe California) that beat Beech to the punch on many, and bought a lot of'em. Now what he does is uses the majority for parts (since Beech will NOT provide them), and keeps only 1 or 2 flying still. I don't think he has the only Starship(s) flying, but he's one of the few.Seeya, - Paul
  13. Jeff, taking into account what you said, I do understand, BUT, and this is a big but, don't think this is to you (personally or otherwise)...Is what you guys are saying is that if you charge money for a product, regardless of the cost (the developer, not the vendor), your not responsible? I don't ####...####, I bought a certain california scenery that absolutely will NOT run on my computer (and I asked for support...got a sub-par answer, and didn't ask for a refund, etc), but I do except some sort of support...even if it sucks. I think that's what the original poster is trying to say...s/he may have come across wrong, or even went about it wrong, but possibly s/he didn't have any way to contact the developer directly, OR, s/he couldn't get in touch with them correctly, so he went to the next rung on the ladder.I know you guys will probably think I'm wrong, but like the second poster, who said s/he (sorry, I suck at remembering names..if you posted them) only paid 30-some odd dollars for his virus protection, and he gets free updates, etc. I do the same (only mine is completely free since the college I'm in provides it). There are companies out there that charge more than that, and still charge for updates! Yeah, so the virus company has more people. So whar? Does that make them any less responsible for their product?I'm also not a firm believer in "the customer is always right" game. I too used to deal with customers. Usually they were wrong, but even in the field I was in (automotive), we still had to stand behind what we did. Accountability is a very serious thing, and the general vibe I got from this topic is that if the product doesn't cost over an X amount of dollars, then noone needs to be responsible, which I feel isn't right.
  14. I started probably in 89-90. I remember connecting through BBS's to get stuff. Then came compuserve, which I still kinda miss. Then Prodigy, AOL, etc.
  15. Hey guys!Ok, I was talking to a friend about it, and he thinks it may be a memory leak somewhere. I'll update this thread after I get a chance to check it out when it happens again (tomorrow)Seeya! - Paul
  16. Hey all! Does anyone have any idea on why fs goes all to h*** after awhile? Here's what happens...a sort of play-by-play scenerio, by time.9:01am: I wake up9:30am: I start FS to make a flight10:00am: I take off10:05am: Pass FL18010:13am: Reach cruising altitude10:15am: Leave and go to class (college)2:00pm: Get back to the computer2:03pm: Turn off FS due to crap performanceThe problem, is that at some point while I'm gone, FS's performance will go down the tube. If I stay at the computer and move the mouse around, etc, it doesn't happen, which makes me thing that something happens on the computer if I'm away from it for awhile. All I know is that I get really really good framerates if I don't leave the computer (for a significant amount of time)...if I do leave it for awhile, and come back, my framerate drops to less than a third of what it was (I have the slider locked at 30 or 35fps).Here are my system specs:Asus P5ND2-SLI DeluxeWindows XP SP2Pentium D 3.20ghz (it was either the only, or one of the 800 series dual core CPU's)2 gigs of ram250 gig hard driveWatercooledNvidia 7800GTX OverclockedPlextor DVDR PX716A (double layer dvd burner)Soundblaster Audiolgy ZS GamerKlipsch surround soundThanks everyone! - Paul
  17. Personally, I think they should have a multi-star system. i.e. A star rating for the exterior model, a star rating for the panel, a star rating for the flight dynamics, etc. Then, of course, you could keep the main star rating up top, but have it tally'd up by what the rest of the stars are (keeping the original star catagories visible for viewers). And like others said in the thread, the reviews will always have some bias, and not everyone will agree, but it will add a little more insight on the rest of the features of the model.Just my opinion.. - Paul
  18. Figures...just what I was hoping NOT to have to do. HahaThanks for the help! - Paul
  19. Hey everyone!I'm repainting the new Super 80 in Northwests old old colors, and I was curious as to what font it is that they used. Here is a link to the scheme I mean: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/704972/L/ Also, if anyone knows where I could download the font, that'd be excellent as well!(brandsoftheworld.com doesn't have the old logo's, which is to bad...)Thanks! - Paul
  20. Edwin, buddy. You really went above and beyond anything I ever expected! Thank you so much for your help!!! I can't stress that enough. The hobby really does need more people like you in it!That being said, what you suggested hasn't really made a difference as of yet. Like I said, after I posted the message, the fps went back up to what they once were. I haven't tried locking my framerates yet...infact, I didn't even know you could. I thought you could only set the target framerate! As of right now, I'm averaging about 36fps with all the sliders maxed (KSEA, KLAX, etc), and thats with add-on traffic at max, etc!Thank you so much again Edwin! And I'll report back here again as soon as I lock the frames. Thanks! - Paul
  21. Hi Edwin! Thanks for the speedy reply! And I'll forgive the blasphemy of the AMD remark (Just kidding, haha). ;-)I did run some benchmark tests, namely, the demo version of 3DMark05. I also ran some other programs to check it out, and what I came up with is the following;Far Cry, all settings maxxed - Smooth as silkLock On, all settings maxxed - Smooth as silkSo I am assuming it's an FS issue. Whats weird is the famerate jumped up earlier back to around 25 at KSEA in the 767, and about 50 at KPIT...again with all settings maxxed. Hopefully, the problem resolved itself, and won't start being an idiot again. I'm still going to do what you suggested. Can't hurt to protect myself! I'll post here after I'm done doing it all! Thanks again for the uber-quick response! - Paul
  22. Hey guys (and gals)!I just got a new computer, and I'm having problems. When I first ran FS with it, it got about 18-20 fps at KSEA with default scenery, default weather, add-on AI, etc in the Level-D 767. But now, I'm only getting 2-3 fps at KSEA under the same conditions, but in the default Cessna! In the 767, the frames are about the same. This is with all sliders on max. Everything was maxed out when I first started flying on the new computer as well. Here are the specs of the computer:Pentium D 840 overclocked to 3.52 GHz2GB DDR2 in dual-channel modeXFX GeForce 7800 GTX overclockedSATA 250GB DeskStar driveSoundBlaster Audigy 2 X-GamerAsus P5ND2-SLI deluxeWater CooledIt's not a spyware issue (I ran a full scan in Spysweeper), and it's not a virus, because I used Mcaffee on it. Like I said, it was running great for awhile, and I didn't change anything, but one day, it just went all to ####, and I get awful framerates now. Even in a default scenery where there really isn't much (such as KJAX) the framerate goes to around 8. Before, I was getting around 30 there. All the drivers for everything are up to date as well...Thanks! - Paul
  23. Hey everyone! Long time reader, first time poster. I've been using FS2Crew for some time now, and I can't seem to figure it out. I'll go through the before start checks, etc, but when it comes time to taxi, the plane won't move! I have released the break, N1/N2/EGT/Etc all rises, and the F/O reminds me of breakway thrust, but it won't move! Please help! - Paul
  24. Hi everyone.I've noticed that when I update to the latest nav cycle, it gives me the option to install the terminal procedures (SIDs/STARs). I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to load'em up in the FMC though! If someone could help, I'd be grateful. Thanks, - Paul
