RCv4.3 and P3Dv2.3
I seem to have fixed it! I was using a .pln file produced by http://onlineflightplanner.org/. If I open that file and resave it with P3D then it seems to work.

RCv4.3 and P3Dv2.3
I've been an RC fan for a long time, but I'm having a hard time getting it working with P3D v2.3 (haven't yet upgraded to v2.4). I've got FSUIPC 3.937 (unregistered) installed and successfully rebuilt the scenery database using makerwys 4.675. However, every time I click Start RC I get the error: Run-time error '9': RadarContact.fsuipc.rcv4code. Also, my aircraft position in P3D immediately changes to Lat/Lon 0/0 in the middle of the ocean. Any ideas? Thanks! Alden I should add that I'm running everything as admin. Running Win 8.1 64.

WOAI problems
I seem to have the same issue as Avidean. No movement of AI in P3Dv2.3 Any ideas? BGL file issues? An important thing for me was to run the WOAI installer as admin, but still no movement. -Alden

P3D v2 general stability?
Thanks everybody. I went ahead and got P3D v2 based on the fact that I can return it if there are problems. So far it's way better than FSX in Windows 8.1 FSX had become completely unusable - I'm not sure that it would have been possible to get it stable. I had done the uiautomationcore.dll fix and some others, but it was kind of hopeless. Currently P3D is working well although I had some issues to start with the "black screen" problem. If I keep P3D full screen and stay away from alt+enter (instead use alt+tab or win+m) things are working well. I definitely looks much better and seems smoother too. Unlikely to be returning it.

P3D v2 general stability?
Hi everybody, I barely fly my sim anymore because when I do manage to find some precious time, it's full of frustration with FSX CTDs on Win 8.1. I'm thinking of getting P3D v2 but want to make sure I don't end up with the same troubles. I don't use too many addons other than the Aerosoft Airbus Extended, REX textures and weather, and hopefully RCv4 if it works ok. Am I likely to make a successful 2+ hour flight? Also any improvements in wind smoothing? Thanks!

Cannot hide display window in FSX
Hi there,I've been a longtime (and happy) user of RCv4 in FS9, but I've only recently started using FSX. One issue is that I can't seem to hide the display window in FSX. I have FSUIPC (unreg) set up correctly and I've tried several different key combos in RC (restarting FSX etc..), but to no avail. I can close the display window, but then it pops up anytime there's a communication. Also the key combo does work to show the display window if closed, but it never hides it. This seems like a minor issue, but it would be really nice not to have the window open all the time. Any ideas?-AldenFSX Deluxe SP2RCv4.3.3845FSUIPC 4.60 (unreg)Vista 64 Home Basic

Just Flight Discount
Thanks - I just checked out QualityWings, but it doesn't look like it's really a "full" sim. It looks great, but it seems like there won't be a fully modeled FMC, etc.Alden

Just Flight Discount
Thanks - but I've read too many bad things about Captain Sim's 757 (bad support, limited systems, buggy, fps, etc...) and plenty of good things about the PSS (JustFlight) 757.Is that discount still available? (Me thinks not :( )-Alden

Just Flight Discount
I had seen the post a few weeks ago about the discount offer, but now I can't find it! Has it expired? I could really use a 757 :( Alden

Airport Grass Textures
thanks! i'll give it a try. i just upgraded to a new machine, so maybe it can handle it with fs9. for the first time EVER, frame rates aren't a problem! we'll see how much damage picnic does...-alden

Airport Grass Textures
I figured it was something like that. That's a bummer....Thanks!

Airport Grass Textures
Is there anyway to improve the resolution of airport grass textures? I know that this is certainly possible with add-on scenery, but what about for standard airports? I bothers me that the resolution is so low - fine when at 30,000 feet, but absolutely horrid on the ground. Might this be the problem? - that the same ground textures are used for airports as are used for other ground scenery that is generally viewed from higher up?Cheers,Alden

Airsimmer A320 - reports from convention attendees?
Thanks for the link! For those who haven't checked it out, you'll need to register in order to see the screenshots. There are 6 images that show the gauges functioning in the VC. There's a night shot of the FCU that looks really great!I must admit that the AirlinerXP VC also looks really good - more reflection and subtle texturing than Airsimmer. Regardless, they both look amazing. What I really want is an Airbus that flies great and is a true simulation - I definitely think that Airsimmer will deliver on that one. It seems like feelThere really blew it with that.2 cents!-AldenPS- yes, the 2 engines appear to be clones. I would expect that the EGT would at least be slightly different. Any comments Samdim?

Airsimmer A320 - reports from convention attendees?
Where exactly are you able to "watch" any concerning the Airsimmer A320? I haven't seen any shots of the gauges in action at airsimmer.com, and Samdim's site is only showing external screenshots now. Is there a video out there or are you maybe referring to the AirlinerXP videos? Just curious.-Alden

Airsimmer A320 - reports from convention attendees?
Agreed - it would definitely be nice to see some new screenshots or even a video clip (might be a good idea considering the impressive FBW and PFD preview videos put out by AirlinerXP). 6 months without a major announcement or update is starting to erode my excitement a little. However, we all saw what happened when Wilco/feelThere released their Airbus too soon! I'm really hoping that the Airsimmer bird will be worth the wait. My only real concern is FPS - I really hope my system can handle it well.-Alden

Dawn/Dusk Horizon Line
Thanks for the shots John. I'll reinstall those textures and check it out. I'm wondering how that scene would look at FL370 over the ocean.-Alden

Dawn/Dusk Horizon Line
Does anybody know of good FS9 dawn/dusk sky textures that smooth the horizon? There are some good ones for day skies (soft horizon, blue sky), but I still can't get rid of the sharp horizon when the sun is low. Even setting my sight distance beyond FSUIPC's visibility maximum doesn't resolve the problem. This remains one of the few FS9 issues that really gets me.Thanks,Alden

Display Settings Hotkeys?
Oh yeah, I should have looked into FSUIPC's capabilities and limitations (I have the registered version). I'll check into it.Alden

Display Settings Hotkeys?
Thanks Jim,I had thought about that, but it's possible to manually adjust the settings in FS9 without restarting (although it's not instant - you need to wait for the changes to load). So somehow, it seems that FS9 can be instructed to incorporate new settings without restarting. Whether this is possible to do with a 3rd party add-on is another story. Anyhoo, my two cents. Alden

Display Settings Hotkeys?
I was wondering if anybody is aware of a way to quickly switch between display settings in FS9. For example, it would be great to create a few settings profiles that you can switch to mid-flight depending on the situation. For cruising with scattered clouds, you'd have your best settings selected. Then as you are on final at JFK, the clouds are really dense and the ground traffic is heavy, conspiring to crush your FPS. You then hit something like Ctrl+Alt+3 and quickly bump your settings to a lower profile using preset smaller textures, lower cloud draw %, and less traffic. Wouldn't that be nice? Has somebody already created this utility?Alden
