  1. It's taken 10 hours but all the info is in its own folder on a central drive and virtually nothing is on other drives or systems. There is some seriously good news too. I found a trial of a nifty little program Revo Uninstaller, which successfully banished FSX and other extraneous programs from my add/remove programs list. FSX will now allow me to reinstall it. Without a os reinstall. There is a God. He knows how many times lately I have beseeched his divine guidance. Jon
  2. B.O.A.C. Better on a Camel P.I.A. Please Inform Allah Ansett Chance it with Ansett. Jon
  3. It's taken a good 8 hours but I have all information organized, at least into the same folder. There's considerable work to be done in that folder but I can actually find stuff quickly. I think I could get used to this organization caper. Jon
  4. I downloaded it. I think it might be the tool. Thanks for that. Jon
  5. Mr. Organization here, again. I have 3-7 Win7 Pro OEM DVD's. I don't know which one is the new one and all the others are on activated drives, some of which are already installed in both computers. I especially recommend the high tensile 6 inch nails to snack on, at this point. viz: Bazil Fawlty shaking his fist at sky. Jon
  6. Yes, I think it takes a cruel lesson like this to make someone like me, think before acting. After all, your's is a very effective system as many are that have been presented in this thread. I will probably end up using something similar once I corral all of it. The one's that are a total bugger are ones like ASE where you get the initial code from a link, don't write it down and the link times out. I've got a few of them. Jon
  7. After reading your post. Have you any ambitions to run the Dept. of Money? If you're that organised, now, You'd wing a job like that. Jon
  8. A very interesting post. So, you could take one of the clones and drop it straight into a new os provided it is the same generation, without going through all this anxt. What a dream way to upgrade to better hardware. I'm with you here Jon
  9. No! Do not speak its name. I don't have it backed-up, yet. My life from here on out is back-up city. I can't organize FSX and in my new system I have 3 Flight Simulators, 2 of which I have not yet defiled.. Time to take the pledge and back-up my back-ups. Jon
  10. I've got 2 at the front of my new box. Technology begins to move too fast for this old mind but apparently they're 6 gbps. Is that good?...and let me assure you in the most vehemently possible way, that ' mine is bigger than your's'. This case is both the most stupid and best thing I've ever done. Cooler Master Cosmos 2. It didn't come on casters but should have. 49 lbs. Empty. To be hot swappable does the drive need to be any special type? ie Can it be done with older sata drives? Jon
  11. The Cloud. Now, that's a good idea. My headlong leap into the new millennium hasn't embraced this aspect. My thoughts were that, in the Cloud, I would risk the forces of evil naughty men stealing my NGX key. I'll check it out. Jon
  12. That's the way. This is my method. It's just that the amount of payware I have now has grown like topsy while I wasn't looking and I'ts becoming a chore at re-install time. I've had dual boot systems with email on each one. I'm beginning to think the only good dual boot system is an os on seperate networked computers. That's where this system is going. Jon
  13. You are soooo right. This must never happen again. I hope Macrium Reflect works but I normally do a repair disk with each virgin install. I could blow my brains out I didn't do it this time. That way I could have made it factory fresh without the drama. Jon
  14. I envy people who are organised. I was holding the door open when they handed it out. What? You mean, actually put it all in the one place and you mean employ that little used form of communication, handwriting. That's quite brilliant. I have so much to do. I must remember to record these things before I open the newly purchased product. Another downside of multiple boot systems and email clients on each one. Jon
  15. I believe you're right. Simconnect has left its imovable footprint in my add/remove programs which is attempting to deal with a corrupt registry. Nuke time. I have Active Sky Evolution which uses Simconnect. Jon
  16. I'm having a really bad experience and need to remove files from my SSd Drive before an os reinstall. I'm trying to find emails with passwords and keys and receipts and about 407 different ways from Tuesday regarding info required to reactivate my payware. Ok, maybe I need to attend to this area. Has any really nice person written any software that can organize all this stuff? I've got all this info spread across 6 drives. Jon
  17. Yup. Gave that a go. There comes a time with these infernal contraptions, where it's just easier to start again. Jon
  18. This just gets better and better. There is a saying I know: "God smiles, when men make plans". In my case he's rofling. I'm about to do a complete re-install of the os. There is no known way, in this universe, to rid myself of a non-existent FSX Install. Which brings yet another question: I'm doing it on a ssd drive. My first one. Anything to be wary of? This all started as an attempt to run P3D and FSX on seperate partitions on the same drive. Unfortunately, the brand new hdd has a bad address. Gangs of fun. I've invented new words. Jon Ooh Ooh, I didn't see this before. I'll try it.
  19. Definitely me pre-coffee. Jon
  20. Note my Avatar. You can't imagine facing life with a head like mine. Jon
  21. PMDG Livery Manager is not identifying the FSX Root folder which is on a 250gb partition on another drive. The second 250gb partition has P3D. Estonian Migration Tool is on the C: Drive and maybe it's confusing things. Ah well. Re-Install time. On that: I have the deluxe edition with acceleration. I realise I'll need to patch the Deluxe edition to upgrade it but is it really necessary to install acceleration? Does it have any advantages? Jon
  22. I'm not suggesting a dna check and ok, it's impractical but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Jon
  23. It ended up an Asus GTX 680 direct cu 4gb. I just couldn't justify the extra $700.00 for the Titan. I was sorta set to do it but I got talked out of it, here and by the Sales guy at the store that assembled the system. Plus, at the time they were not expecting Titans for over a week. The new system is fast enough. I just wish I could get FSX, P3D and Estonian Migration tool to play nice. Jon
  24. It's nothing PMDG have done. It's me. I have to uninstall and reinstall the PMDG 737 NGX yet again, as the livery manager can't find the FSX root file even when I navigate it to it. When I point it at a livery file it tells me it's not installed. I'm so hoping if I have to do the above, I will not have to, again, cast myself prostrate before PMDG Admin to get yet another key reactivation. We know one another by first names. I'm thinking there may be a conflict in the way I have my new system configured. My C: Drive is a 512 gb SSD. I have partioned a 500gb drive into 2 x 250gb. FSX is installed on the first partition and P3D on the second. I cant see why there would be a conflict but I fear, inexpert use of the Estonian Migration Tool may have also have contributed. I have no animosity toward said tool. Once again, it's probably me. Jon
  25. Is there any other way to repair FSX other than a uninstall/reinstall? My disk only presents the dreaded Uninstall option. God I hope there is a way. Jon
