HI:This has probably been asked before but I can't find it. I'm new to using DXTBMP (at least for modifying files).I now have the latest version of it.I have a texture file that is 1024 X 1024 - 16 bit - and I want to shrink it down to 256 X 256 - 16 bit or 256 colors using DXTBMP - this I'm not sure how it's done.It's currently DXT1 format so like to keep it that format.Could someone please lend me a helping hand - thanks.Paul.

It's just too bad they did it for only their payware (maybe the odd freeware one) airports. Be nice if there was a product that did all that no matter what airport you were at and no matter of the creator of the airport.Thanks.

Your referring to a airplanes landing/taxi lights. The original spotlight.bmp file would cause those 'triangular' looking lights.Search Avsim.com FS2004.com, etc for new and updated spotlight and halo files - I think you maybe pleasantly surprised.Let us know of your findings, if you find anything you like over what you are seeing now.Thanks.Paul.

Hi all:I just upgraded my memory from 1.5GB of memory to 4GB of DDR PC3200 400Mhz (4 1GB sticks)I was just wondering if there are some FS9 settings to change or system settings to change to take full use of all the new memory?I am seeing improvements, don't get me wrong, just never done this kind of upgrade before and just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I need to do.I have a P4 2.4Ghz Desktop - now with 4GB of DDR PC3200 400 Mhz memory512 MB nvidia 7600GS video card20.1" wide screen LG LCD monitorThanks Paul.

Richard:What are you PC specs and how much ram in that video card of yours?Once you reverted back to the 71.89 drivers how much of an improvement did you get? What kind of FPS' are you getting before and after?ThanksPaul.

Yes your rivers and streams will look like that and not deep gorges or something :)Anyways you can always experiment - make them shallower or deeper depending on your liking.Enjoy.Paul.

Tim: If you could share or send me your FS9.CFG file we could try to help you out with that - as for the rest of the tweaks those are on your video card settings - Anti-aliasing, Ansiotropic aliasing, graphic quality etc.If you could tell us what settings you have these at as well - along with your pc specs I'm sure we could try and help you out with it.I did have now blurries - but that's when I had my graphic quality set to as high as it would go. The graphics were great but it was a big FPS hit.Now that I have it on High Performance instead of High Quality - My FPS has shot up but like I said the textures get slightly blurrier away from me.I'll have to keep inching my settings back up until i see the FPS' drop again.Thanks Paul.

There is a bad texture that got installed somewhere along the way that it doesn't like.I had this happen to me - I viewed the pictures of the textures and said oh wow that looks good - put it into place and FS9 wouldn't load the flight I chose - it just closed and disappeared.Trouble is finding out which texture it is. Try to remember when it started happening and what changes or additions you did shortly before that.It's a start. See if it helps.Thanks.Paul.

VSYNC and those settings are in your video card settings not in FS9.CFG file.Paul

Well I'm trying to fly around at different airports - small and large to see the results.i also didn't mention that he suggested to bump my FPS lock from 31 to 37. So I do get FPS's that are in the 30's and stay there - depending on the airport/city/landscape/weather etc.It's just the textures out in the distance stay blurrier longer until i get closer to them as when before they stayed crisp all the time but with a significant hit to FPS - down to mid-high teens up to mid 20's depending on where i am.So I guess it's just a matter of gently increasing the settings in FS9.CFG and video settings to see when it starts to really hurt FPS significantly to stop there.Unless you have a secret tweak I haven't heard about yet :)Thanks again.Paul.

Well not exactly man - I think you have an extra GB of memory then me and when someone else looked at my FS9.CFG file they suggested I turn off Vertical sync (as you did) but also change my display quality down to High Performance - (I previously had it on High Quality)This in turn keeps my FPS up there but then it suffers a bit on textures in the distance - they don't stay as crisp until i get closer to them.Also in the FS9.CFG he changed the following lines:TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.50000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=232to read:TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=2.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=2.50000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1Any thoughts here?Thanks Paul.

Thanks. When you say you pick up MAJOR FPS after running with the CAT 7.1 driver suite - do you mean video drivers? and is that one specific to ATI?I'm using the latest nvidia drivers from June 2007 version 162.18Would it be possible to see or to get your FS9.CFG file?Thanks.

I've installed them and can get everyting to work except the winter textures. When I switch the season to winter I get that dreaded error with the Send / Don't Send buttons and FS9 just quits.Any thoughts on this one? Spring, Summer and Fall all work fine.And it's winter that has the kewlest textures (I think).Thanks.Paul.
