  1. Yes, I believe this is the way of the future. In fact, I think some time in the near future Flight Sim is going to turn into something like Microsoft
  2. I got it to work! The location I was trying to fly in would not load the tiles. I then tryed a different place and it worked. Some locations fail to load so just pick different places until you find one that works! My INF file is attached for anyone looking for one, you must copy and paste the text from my INF file into your INF File. On my INF file I did the G??gle thing because everyone else was doing it, so you must correct the three mistakes before using it. Also you need the "cache.tiles" folder in the "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XTileProxy" Folder. Good Luck. It's Awesome once you get it working!!!
  3. Could someone please add their WORKING INF file as a plain text atachment - attached to your post. Some people are saying it does not work if you copy and paste over the internet. It would be much appreciated as i can not get TileProxy to work with code provided on this thread. Thanks!
  4. Yup, Im getting the same thing to, but the funny thing is one time it worked for me??? I am not sure what I did but I just started a flight and there was satalite imagery in place. It wouldn't update as i moved along though - pretty cool I must say. After the flight I deleted the JPG files in my catche.tiles. I tryed it again and now it won't work once again. The DOS box gives me that same error now. And one other thing, when I click the "cleanup" utility in the world's folder it does not clear the folders out - it is supposed to right?. and don't click the unload filter driver when fsx is trying to load the scenery, it results in a system crash. My ProxyUser text is attached.
  5. Why not just have your own real plane when you buy fsx. you can then fly FS anywere around the world and have live feed of the scenery you are seeing from your plane. lol
  6. oh, and one other question, when is the final/ non bata version of TileProxy going to be released?
  7. I secound that! Please? We must find a way to do this.
  8. I think the best way to load high definition would be by streaming it from the internet and saving it to your hard disc space (almost like it is now). But it would be cool if there was a way to make a custom path of the high definition scenery you want for your flight. if there was a way to select areas on a map that you want satellite imagery for and then having the simulator preload it to your computer before flight that would be cool. Perhaps some of the hardcore programmers could figure out a way to do this? I bet it's possible.
  9. No Jaap, If your using trackIr when you turn your head/body in you chair you will be looking in a differnt direction in the simulator(like in real life). The projector would also turn so your eyes never leave the screen. Think about it more, it wont be the same screen the whole time. Im not sure if the imersion factor would be that great - but it's just an idea. I'm also guessing that there is a way to tone down the sensability of your head movement using trackIR so you can get head movement like in real life.
  10. Some time in the future I want to build a room with a 360* circle of white wall and then in the center have a chair with a projector over head. Then when ever you turned your head the projector would move in the same direction so your eyes are always on the screen. TrackIr just seems silly when you have to move your head away from the screen. Do you think this would work - has anyone tryed anything like this? I'm not sure how you would make the projector move - perhaps just attach it to a rotating chair - then when you turn your chair the screen would move. Anyways, this is just my brain going off with crazy ideas. I guess you could also just use the 3d virtual helmet/glasses - but thats not as cool.
  11. Hey - April 27,that's my birthday. That would be a good birthday present if it actually came out that day.
  12. I have a AMD x2 3800 and I am pleased with the performance i get. I can fly fsx pretty well - seem to be getting the same performace as everyone else. constant 20 fps in rual areas with tweeks, full autogen, global texture and ground texture - everything else has sliders to the left. i havent tryed the core 2 duo so i don't know what i missing but i can tell you i'm perfectly content right now with the AMD X2 3800.

    FSX Patch?

Well FSX had to be made at some point and you should be glad it happened when it did. FSX is simply a huge rewrite of fs2004 with all new ways of modeling the world and terrain etc... Think of FSX as attempt #1 in creating a almost totally new program - The process of throwing a whole bunch of code together really fast in order to meet deadlines. fS11 will be attempt #2 were they can step back and really take the time to organize and correct thier first code. as the saying always goes - You always learn from your mistakes! This is just the nature of programming.FS2004 was simply A refined version of FS2002 AND FS2000. all we got to do now is wait a couple years for the refined version of FSX!
  14. "And the future promises even better possibilities as the hardware catches up with the software." - funny, I think its just the opposite. It seems we are awaiting the software to catch up to the hardware with the SP1 and DX10 patch and all. Oh and thank you very much for your hard effort - it's a great mission and you have great tallent. keep it coming!
  15. Great great mission! Thats what i dreamed missions would be like when i first heard they were going to include them in FSX. This makes me want to create a mission of my own but to make a good one just takes way to much time. Perhaps over summer when i have a lot more time on my hands :-)
  16. I have no idea about your "twice the rendering" idea but I think FSX autrogen should completely disappear after a certain altitude - it should dissapear much closer then it does right now. ACES should try experimenting with the LOD for autrogen a bit more. It would probably help performance considerably (less things to render) and it would look more realistic. I'm not to educated about how this stuff works but it's just a thought.
  17. I know - Service pack 1 is what i meant by the "early patch." - Sorry for the confusion.I sure hope there is some true performance boost with SP1 because im getting a little frustrated with frame rates right now.NOTE to ACES: I still have great faith in you - just feel free to take your time and get these patches right! I can't wait till the SP1 patch and the DX10 patch come - then we will be able to play FSX the way it's suppose to be played!
  18. It sound like you know what you are talking about and I think you are right - direct x 10 GPU's should be able to take some load of the cpu. Hopefully the earlier patch will help as well - at least people on the fs team do - "As far as FSX is concerned, work on Service Pack 1 continues apace, and the early performance benchmarks have me feeling cautiously optimistic". http://halbryan.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!C...2CCEF!243.entry
  19. Hello everyone- I am in the prosses of creating a car in gmax and i want to combine 4 seperate tires to my car_LOD_50 model. I'm fairly new to gmax and this seems like a simple task but i cannot figure out how to combine objects. Perhaps somone can quickly explane. Thankyou :-)
  20. Hello, I have the exact same computer you do and fs2004 did the exact same thing. Textures and every thing went wierd. The good news is i fixed the problem but the bad news is I don't remember exactly how. If you turn off "transform and lighting" in the hardware section of the display properties that seems to temperarly fix it. I seem to have fixed it on my computer now because now i have that setting on and the sim runs as smooth as butter and it never did that wierd thing agian. I messed aroud alot with the NVIDIA display properties alot. Oh, one other thing is i totaly got rid of the mcafee security center and replaced it with the AOL one, mcafee seemed to slow things down a bit. I also did some window xp tweeking found here http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...esg_id=25&page= . If none of that works for you I don't know what to tell you, i just got lucky somewhere trying to fix it. Reinstalling the video drivers didn't do anything for me. Once I got it fixed you will be pleased to know that fs2004 ran very smothly, as well as the fsx demo.
  21. I believe missions are essential to the successes of Microsoft Flight Simulator and are only going to make the game better. Like someone said earlier missions are going to draw many more people to the game. Thanks to missions along with the new SDK there is going to be a ton of freeware and payware add-ons to look forward to. And now that the development of missions is almost over with in FSX just wait until flight simulator 11 where hopefully more time will be spent on things like lighting, ATC, Weather, failures Exc... along with the many new people who will be waiting to create amazing add-ons for it. :)
  22. Wow, awsome, now those are some new screen shots! The new article there also got me really excited. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/microsoftfl...atorx/news.html"Flight Simulator has made it for nearly 25 years without any kind of mission-based gameplay. That will change, and an example of that was shown in a video where an offshore oil rig is on fire, and you must pilot a helicopter quickly to the scene and evacuate the crew off the burning platform, with things exploding all around you." Hmm, interesting!
  23. Hello, I am very new to the AVSIM forums. I
