James, I hope you have found answer but if you don't have yet;look at on root directory of FS find PSS folder. open Airbus A3XXX folder you will see two load manager. if you use loadeditAbPro(metric).exe and save configuration, plane turn on METRIC system. If you use other one, it does for US system.try once, I hope I remember correct.
  2. FSpassagner X'i uninstall edin. FSX için SP2 varsa accelaration pack'i yükleyin. Daha sonra FSpax-X'i bir daha yükleyin. Legal ürün kullanmıyorsanız muhtelemen hata vermeye devam edebilir.
  3. I strongly advise, everytime use "windowed" screen. The most of time, full screen is causing of menu loosing problems and connected any other problems. Depends on, it can be show differents problems by computer hardware or software or actual graphic card drivers.
  4. hello Smoky, there are three possibility about how they see you (how your livery looks like)1- generally other online users see your plane like as their own planes, there is no matter which plane that you use. they always your plane with they own plane and models. 2- if other online users are using any VIP texture sets (which are basic models and texture sets for online flights as lite version and standart servison); firstly, they are see you on correct airplane model. If your texture matches any VIP textures, they can see you on correct livery, if your livery doesn't matches VIP texture library, they can see you on standart(default) VIP plane texture. The important point, you will be there in correct airplane model on the other user(s) screens.how can you show a livery that is on VIP library? while you can login, when you select aircraft there is a list on aircraft livery. the list comes at the top as default "generic livery" which is VIP standart livery. You can select any other livery on pull down list. Even you select it is not guranteed to show you livery on other user computers. It depends on VIP texture use.3- if other online users are using VIP standart texture set (large texture count set) and also have large number of AI planes on his computers; the same rule, this is issue of texture matches. The most of users usig VIP standarts and AI planes by thier computer capability, thatswhy they can see the other users in correct plane and livery in most times.I hope would be help your question.
  5. I'm not sure but as far as I know, AI traffics are not dissappear when you start FSINN in FSX. You have to switch off by manuelly to AI traffics. This is a bug of FSX, I think some codes are not suitable. As I said that, I'm not sure. You may look in Fsinn forums.
  6. additional item on my wish list before;-a simple load/payload program for getting correct CG point of aircraft.(do I wishing too much unable thing? :) ) thanks
  7. We have celebrated our one of National day at 23rd of April, which is 89th. year of founded Turkish Parliament as known as in Turkish People "The Grand National Assembly of Turkey". It was a critical mile stone in our Independence War between 1919 to 1923. When Parliament founded 23rd.april of 1920, our Independence war has began officially and all Turkish people came together for fighting, It was mean of a new country is born. After declared of Turkey Republic (29thOct.1923), 23rd of april has been accepted Natiaonal Sovereignty Day and also has been dedicated to Turkish Childrens. It was a gift from our great leader, first President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.Because he believed to childrens to be future of young Turkish Republic's beyond and childrens always remembers to us "young" of our Republic even past of years. As far, 23rd April is the first official Childrens Days by celebrating goverment level.Celebratings has been performing "international" since 1979 and TRT-Turkish Radio and Television Assc. has been organised a festive in celebrating week for hunderets childrens who they are comes from whole of the world. In this year, we lived a different spirit in our Flightsim hobby by dedicated of National day and Children's day. Our great flightsim community partner IVAO's Turkey division invited their childrens and shared the cockpits with young (future) first officers while performing 23rd April National Day Celebration events. I'd like to congratulate IVAO Turkey staff for their wonderful organisation and expressive behaviour about sharing his hobbies in a special day with their kids. Young boy and girls were succesfull provide to his/her fathers as "first officers".Not a joke, they were flew, they have communicate with air traffic contollers (sometimes they were more serious than big boys!), they have fun, they were enjoyed flew with his/her fathers. Participants boys and girls may would be pilot in future and probably they remembered this day "everything has began in a 23.April day, we flew with my father on -aged- computer with FlightSimulator...ahh yes once upon times they called Flightsimulator which was very basic simulator not like thats 2030s!" :)Once again, thank you IVAO Turkey staff for sharing their hobbies with the precious kids.Parents and childrens were shared amateur spirit of aviaiton together.here you are a few pictures of the most enjoyed night with kids;Ece is doughter of Hakan Sivrikaya. She looks like a pilot in future, isn't?Gizem is doughter of Goktug Kayis. She is ready to takeoff already! :)Meric is on the way his father Gurol Ustaomeroglu.I'm sure he captured by flying spirit.Derin is on duty with his father Bogac Erkan. His proud seen on the face.
  8. you have two ways;you can monitor weather information via SERVINFO or VROUTE etc for online flight. if you are using activesky, you can use it both of offline and online (I advise this program for providing realistic weather conditions).Active sky ha a great feature about "chatcing the weather". You can fill the necessary box what you looking for how much bad weather ! :) and program would be find places the match with your requested.similiar feature also in Servinfo, you may use filter or you can request the all list and check remarks of weather conditions.FSMETAR is a freeware program but I can't use it for a long time becouse it was giving ICAO code errors continously.
  9. Ken, excellent explanation about that feeling after simulation ride :)
  10. congratulations Doug, also I'm glad to that you have enjoyed on your flight. I hope we can fly together someday. -follow and monitor with servinfo or vroute for peak times for the most connection over USA.After that you can make plans. As we advised follow "events" , it means guranteed service and crowded traffics :)-yes if there is no following ATC service, controller will be handoff to you on unicom frequency 122.80. this is standart procedure in VATSIM. for IFR and VFR flights, doesn't matter. If there are not any active controller until your landing, all descend and approach operation in pilot discretion. You have to do, make basic report about your position such as leaving level, next waypoint, approach phase and runway etc. the best pilot skill you can give ETA for crossing points but so many peoples shouldn't be understand it :)While you are flying, if a new ATC facilities open which is invlolved with you (FIR, TMA, Airport etc), controller will be call you via private message "contact with me on*****"good luck, don't hesitate for asking question about VATSIM.take care
  11. Doug hello, before answered your question, I'd like to give some information about that you have must base programs;I said that www.vatsim.net-->pilot resosurces-->pilot software before.let we check what you need "MEL-minimum equipment list of programs" :)basicly VATSIM requires purchase only Flight simulator, the rest of programs basicly free of charge but beyond, for advanced user, you may buy or purchase payware versions. FSX-->you have got alreadySquawkbox4.0 for FSX--->freewareFSUIPC--->you will see pilot software page at the below. FSUIPC is include freeuser and payware users. Squawkbox is working with FREE LICENCE but you can't reach some of settings with free use. is this very important? not much, it is enough for begining but for future, when you start to use additional programs such as PMDG,some of navigational guides etc, they would be need "registered FSIUPC". Good side, when you purchased once, you can upgrade newest versions.#Answer of your second question; as far as I know FSinn FSx version didn't release officially (http://www.mcdu.com/en/index.php) but acording VATSIm pilot software page links (http://usa-w.vatsim.net/prc/VPTPublic/pdfs/103h.pdf) it seems talks about FSINN installation into FSX. I didn't heard FSINN users with FSX yet, generally all FSX users flies with SB4 (squawkbox4)#answer of your first question; As you wish, you can start your flight whenever you want :) For your first flight, I advise to start in your homebase airport, so you can knowledge about software capabilities, squawkbox features with mauels etc. After that you can find a place to fly.How you decide to fly in where?we are using a few programs for monitoring where are the prople at that time as pilot or as ATC (be givinf atc services)Servinfo is the most known program for a long time; http://www.avsim.com/hangar/utils/servinfo/home.htmit is very userfriendly program, when you press VATSIM button, all traffics will be appear whole over the world map. After that you can choose wherever you want to make flight :)another program ise Vroute (you may make search on google). It has two version, freeware and payware. I don't use too much this program (I've free use)VATspy and Dolomynum are also another monitoring programs.Don't forget, all virtual air traffic controllers are volunteers and they are giving the service in their freetime. There shouldn't be all ATC facilities at the same time from Ground to Center.Eventually, all regions has own peak time in day or nigh time. USA is really active area especially, LosAngeles , Phoenix, Saltlake City, Florida,Illinois and Kansas are the most active areas. I advise follow event announces in VATUSA or vatsim forum pages--FLYIN section.I hope answers helps you.
  12. hi again Doug,You don't need purchase anything except a microphone :) if you have speakers on desktop just you need a microphone. Headset(with microphone) is more comfortable for seperating communicate and Flightsimulator's sounds if you have two soundcard. In VATSIM, voice communication devices (program) is comes with Squawkbox or FSinn program, there is no additional voice communication program such as Teamspeak(TS) for VATSIM. Go to www.vatsim.net --->look at left column PILOT RESOURCES--->Pilot SoftwareDownload Squawkbox or FSinn. FSinn's FSX version didn't release yet (once again check on webpage) thatswhy you have to download SquawkBox4. In normally, the rest of programs works directly in Flightsimulator as interface but in FSX, Squawkbox4 will work on desktop (seperate from FSX). Be carefull to use it.Squawkbox4 has own user manual how to connect to VATSIM. Do not online on the runway :) Just only you have to do make microphone settings in Squawkbox. While you makes setting don't forget assign a PTT button. I advise "left+ctrl" button which is less using button in FS also some of people using "scroll lock" or "spacebar" for PTT button.
  13. Hello Doug, there are a lot of free source on the internet about flying technics such as IFR and VFR flight procedures. Before you checked them do not purchase any tutorial materials, especially for your hobby Flightsimulation.I strongly advise www.vateud.org --->training department-->pilot TD which is include the most important informaitons about how to fly in VATSIM like as pilot.additional; http://www.fsstation.com/tutorials/http://www.topskills.com/flitsim.htm --------->you can purchase some of materials from here but as I said that you can find on the internet almost the same informations.have a nice flight
  14. I went to there 2hrsX2 session. We paid 360Euros/hrs with my friend. At the other 2 hours, I was invited by a TV program record which is interested with aviation (www.airporttv.tv). If you wish and if you interested I can give you rapidshare links but all conversation in Turkish (We were talking about virtual aviation in Turkey and flight situation -emergencies etc- at that time).we simulated hydrolics problem and left main gear malfunction with heavy cross wind while snowing without aiport approach lights! :)anyway, generally simulation cost almost the same whole of the world.Malaysia Airlines 777 simulation hour slighty less than avarege price so it is great chance (If I visit to Malaysia again I'm thinking to try it)
  15. Well as far as I know, Malaysia Airlines is giving chance to use B777 simulator for amateurs, so a bit far away from California :)I remember there was a simulation center in Sandiego. You may contact with Boeing,CAE or flightsafety training center for fnding commercial T7 simulator in your location. also I found this article, it may be help you as start; http://www.pilotmag.com/PublisherBlogbesides, if you have chance to visit Uk someday, you have more chance to try other airliners except t7 in www.virtualaviation.co.uk .also if you have chance to visit Turkey someday, you have granteed chance (able limited times in free slots) to visit B737NG and A320 simulators in IFTC (www.iftc.aero). I've been in there for 4 hrs fligts with 737NG last few months.if you have to chance to fly with B777, please share your experience with us.
  16. Yes, ofcourse, thatswhy vatsim does it for :) VATSIM's main goal is simulated real life aviation in virtual skies.Additional information; in such as theese long haul flights, you have to be in cockpit during your flight. Becouse you shouldn't know when you enter controlled airspace and you have to response ATC calls in 30minutes. It means you can't leave cockpit more than 30minutes. I can answer if you have more question about that yes, VATSIM provide IFR and VFR flights, but all route informaiton in pilot responsible. You can find IFR routes from VROUTE or the most populer web site;http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ Controller will be handover to next ATC facilites if available. So if TWR is online, yes controller will give instruction about contact tower. (actually controller does not ask to "contact tower", just gives instruction about what you have to do)Vectoring is prefreable options, controller can give vectors or requests flight following by your IFR plan route. In depends on your ability (or possibility) or traffic flow.before you flight I strongly advise, visit your departure and destination airport's countries VACC and get charts. always prefer, all pilots must be fill a valid flightplan except VFR flghts in USA (but if you fill a flightplan for VFR flight it would be good also it shows of your pilot skill and helps for controllers that we know where you fly from /to)if there is no active controller, you can takeoff without flightplan but usually a supervisor would be awarn you about fill a flightplan in air (while you are flying). If there is acative controller, you can't takeoff without a fligtplan already :)you can change your flight plan while flying, there is no problem.if you are out of controlled space, you have to set your comm frequency on 122.80 unicom. (controller will be say to you when you out of his airspace. Reverse, when you start your flight there shouldn't be active controller, so you have to on UNICOM channel and chekc active controller list sometimes, when controller is online you have to switch on his channel. also controller when to be online, he will be call you with" contact with me "private message, at that time you can switch his channel. if your destination airport is out of controlled airspace, you don't need to get clereance from anyone, after your left controlled airspace, all navigation in pilot discretion (on unicom channel and you have to be announce your position when necessary)VATSIM is a simple mirror of real life aviation.Ofcourse there are some little differents by "electronic-computer-virtual" reasons. But basicly, all procedures almost the same as in real life, espacially navigation principles. VATSIM is a good chance to learn about flying, aviation regulations, aviation pharesologie at your home as basic level.Do not compare with real life and always remember we are playing this game in home computers not in 50millon$ commercial airliner :))search internet web pages about how to fly in vatsim guides. you will find a lot of documents in various VACC and simulation web pages.good luck
  17. yes you are in wrong place. but if you asked once; You have to need find SECTOR chart where you want to see on map in radar screen.Actually, if you are not insterested about "virtual air traffic controller" , you don't need ASRC. Also, even you want to try to use, if you are not qualified for using any radar program, you can just only connect as OBSERVER via ASRC(or VRC).So, go to www.vatsim.net and check right column divisional/regional links and find your interested country region for getting VACC web sites that you want to see/find sector files. When you find VACC website, go to downloads, sectors file or etc section and download sector file. Start ASRC, open sector file, find that you downloaded SCT file, open it, you will see map on screen. once again, if you are not qualified by your VACC (or any VACC) you can ONLY connect as OBSERVER (OBS).notice about qualified means; you have to apply to become an virtual airtraffic controller, then you have to get -pass- written exam first then you will get some training by VACC training management. When your training finished, you must be pass "practical exam". When you passed CPT-controller practical exam, you would get right to be STUDENT rating. STU-S1 rating is allow only DEL-GND and TWR position. When you get enough controller time as S1 -at least 50hrs- you have to right to get Senior Student written exam, following training again and then practical exam. After that you will be allowed existing facilities + APP. Next step goes to Controller, then Senior Controller with the same process.
  18. Brendan, change your interface to use connect VATSIM first. If you use SB3 , changed to FSinn or reverse. If not fixes your problem, possible problem reasons are;-antivirus program protection; generally nod32 is creating this problem. As far as I know there should be a settings about exception some programs inside of NOD32.(I can't remember section of this settings, it may be AMON or like thats)-firewall settings; check your exceptions in your firewall list, you have to get sb3 or fsinnin exception list-check modem protection; evenbe you set on windows firewall, some of modem's itsown firewall protection system obstructs to connection from outside. You may open ports for to use of SB3/fsinn once again in modem settings.
  19. should be more than 250 traffics. I couldn't count but when I checked servinfo atlantic wasn't seen! :)
  20. the best solution is to use two sound devices as reply in above. The most of mainboards has own sounddevices onboard. You need a additional sound card (you don't need to buy expensive one!). SB3/FSinn gives you chance to select soundcard for speaking(record) and listening(speakers). You can select them seperatly. But don't forget; onboard sound devices may effect on your computer's speed. So many computer guru says "do not use onboard devices for getting best performance of your hardware". I don't know it is true or not or how would be effect on speed, nanoseconds or any value? :) I'm using a sound card with onboard devices. Microphone connected on sound card, all speakers connected on onboard. As your wish, if you want to use advanced soundcard, I advise connect computer sounds to it, and use onbaord devices to speaking/listening ATC. (my sound card comes past century!! onboard chip newest than card:) )I didin't use USB sound devices before, so I don't have any idea.
  21. Hello Gary, your welcome, I'm glad to help you if I could :)ok let wee see your headwind issues.basicly all headwings slower you but as you sad that angle is important point. you are flying heading 100 degrees and winds 040@50 knts. This would not be the same effect winds 100@50, you are right. In real life, pilots are using "crosswind companents calculation charts". It is a diagram for calculation of side (as you says)/cross winds. Crosswings also slower you but not like as headwind, but 90 degree winds (your heading 100, winds 190@50) is effect you different. You can't slower but you can drifted your original flight route. ok,internet world is unlimited and I'm rally appreciated there are som excellent persons who are living with aviaiton spirit.here you are a web site which is excellent in both of aviation lovers, virtual pilots or real life pilots. http://www.luizmonteiro.com/Wind.aspxI strongly advise to add your favorites. I think you will find your question's answer about crosswind and effect on flightplan.take care and have a nice flight Hakan GUVEN
  22. hi Gary,I'll try to do my best for answering of your questions;Q1 - Can anyone tell me how to get VATSims enroute wind and weather prior to filing an FP.A1- You can't get that information from VATSIM. Also you don't need to fille those information on Fligtplan.VATSIM is giving basic weather conditions va SquawkBox or FSINN interfaces. Weather generators (by SB3 and FSINN) are producing layered winds conditions via FSUIPC but we can't see as visible text format. You may montior current winds condition on navigation display while you are at cruise altitude and it may be matches with active sky even you don't use Active sky. The best way is, using Active Sky 6.5. Active sky is getting all weather information with layered, When you enter your route into AS(active sky) it will be give you every 5000ft layered weather conditions. You can get printout and enter that information on your FMC/MCDU if necessary , or you can use your manually flightplan calculations.Q2 - How do you isolate head/tail wind components from crosswind components for use in my per-leg fuel calculationsA2- Actually so many pilots haven't got any information or don't care such as theese professional calculations. But you can check the manuels that you used airplane and you may add fuel calculation how much you need additional fuel. Generally pilots are flying "fully tanks" :) so they don't make "sensitive" fuel burning during flight.but basicly, head wind will be slower you than your planned groundspeed. You have to calculate ETA with flighttime. If you slower than your planned speed your ETA will be extend, so you will be burn much more fuel. Example your airplane is burning 1.5 tons each flight hours, your planned groundspeed 450knt and you have to fly 450nm in per hour.if you get headwind as 45knt, your groundspeed decreases to 415knt, so %10 less than your planned. you have to add %10 more fuel per flight hour. If you get cruise altitude winds conditions from Activeskyi alredy you know that when and where you get headwinds. Do not mistake about Groundspeed, TAS,IAS and MAchspeed.Q3 - Do I need to process the sidewind component at all, as my tutorials all seem to assume perfect head/tail winds which is seldom the case.A3 - As I said , as you wish :) If you don't want to make calculation, I advise add your tanks at least %20 more fuels.Don't forget, wide boddy aircraft can not be climb directly cruise altitude, so you may makes "step climb" for burning fuel (for loosing weight).I'd like to use SID/STAR and I was told about a 'dot notation' which implies to ATC that you expect SID/STAR. I believe the correct flightplan format uses '{airport}.{dep fix} {space delimited enroute fixes} {arr fix}.{airport}' structure ... where the {arr fix} and {dep fix} are taken from SID/STAR sheets. Is this right ?affirmative, that is correct. The correct flight plan includes end of SID fix, flight toute and begin of STAR fix.Q4 - Are my assumptions regarding 'dotted' flightplan format correct ?A4- yes it is.Q5 - When should I expect to know my STAR and how do I explicitly request it in the correct RT and at an appropriate timeA5 - firstly, SID and STAR are not mandatory for an airport operations. Sometimes, Air Traffic Controllers ignores SID and STAR for getting more capability of traffic flows, ofcourse within coordination with sub or over controlling sectors. Although pilot must be fill SID and STAR (if able--in VATSIM) and must be ready to apply if required by ATCO.(air traffic controller)for your question; ATCO will be inform you about STAR which one in use for that airport. all ATCO's knows (by their airport operaiton procedure) when/where you informed about STAR.If not you can required like as;" - ****approach, (this is) ABC123, can we get which arrival in use?"" - ABC123, you are cleared inbound to ***** via DELTA1A arrvial, expect runway36"or, ATCO already be informed you with the same order.ATC release you STAR altitudes for crossing/check points or can be give you just only point for crossing altitude which is include STAR" - ABC123, follow descend path as published charts, report passing CHARLIE point" in this order, you have to follow chart's altitudesor" - ABC123, you are cleared DELTA1A arrival, cross CHARLIE at 4000ft qnh1013" in this order, CHARLIE crossing point may different from published chart so you have to cross at by ATC order.ATCO can be anytime cancel the STAR while you are performing to use STAR route. Possible causes of ; traffic flow, traffic management, near miss, protection from conflict, help for to give you shortway to land etc. Be ready for unexpected orders.example, you are flying on STAR route"- ABC123, after CHARLIE left heading 030, you are cleared ILS app rwy 36, report established"or " -ABC123, after CHARLIE maintain present heading expect radar vectors for ILS 36"or " - ABC123, turn right heading 090, expect radar vectors ILS app 36"Also, if anyone has any link to examples of finding, planning, using Atlantic and Pacific daily/static tracks I'd love to check that out too... I've seen real-world atlantic tracks published online but I'm guessing they'd not apply to VATSims weather. Are there actual VATSim approved ocean tracks you can use and how do you go about getting an entry schedule ?I advise VATUK webpage for actual NAT routes and informaitons how to you fly NAT route. For your informaiton NAT routes can be change daily and two times in a day.good luckHakan GUVEN
  23. Thanks very much, I'm really appreciated. As a 737 fanatic, now I have all 737 series manuals :)
  24. Marcelo, try to open collector account, I think it should be free. Collector account hasn't got allows 10times dowmload as far as I know.
  25. Thanks guys, appreciated.a little question; FSB is calculating only total fuel , is it right? (I'm not FSB builder but if it is calculate each tank, I would be an user)thanks
