  1. I started a thread a little while ago on whether it was worth the re-purchase. For the record, I lasted 3 weeks without the 777, The 737 I'm holding off for a little while longer.
  2. Thanks Damien. That's one culprit off my list
  3. Am working through some ctd issues on P3D v3 I run ASN networked Under my p3d process tree is something called as_audio.exe. Under that tree is a greedy little thing called conhost.exe that is using 2.3 gb. What is this and is there anything I can do to reduce the system overhead? Regards David

  5. I've recently moved to P3D and would like to use SimConnect in a networked enviroment to take the atc and weather load off my flying PC. I'm struggling to get SimConnect working, and wonder whether there is a dedicated P3D guide anywhere? Regards David
  6. I realise that this might not be a popular post with PMDG, but I hope it will be interesting enough to remain unlocked, and hope that others might also contribute in a positive way. As a fan of PMDG for many years I have bought many of the offerings, and noted the rising trend of the cost. With that rising trend has been an associated trend in the quality of the produce,, so while the cost is high, a bit of man maths makes it no problem. The time has now come for me to make a move to P3D. I was aware of a short upgrade period when PMDG first launched the P3D versions, however at the time this was far too speculative for what was still a speculative purchase, not knowing when or even if I would make the switch. I now look at the p3d 777 and 737, and see little change from the fsx versions. Clearly some extra time and effort will have been spent on testing and installers, but it must have been minimal compared to the development of the projects, simply as they were released so quickly I know find myself contemplating paying a substantial amount to repurchase aeroplanes that I have already paid for, and it sticks in my throat, and I am finding it difficult to justify using man maths or any other type.... So my question is, is there any real significant difference that I've missed or is this simply a second chance to dip into my wallet? If it's the latter then I would urge PMDG to contemplate an upgrade path. I suspect that I am not the only person who is reluctant to dig so deep a second time.... Regards David Powell

  8. Thanks gents I'll look into accelerating my Wide FS plans. I just need to work out how to get reliable connectivity between the two pc's which are located together, but towards the edge of the wifi signal, which drops on occasion. 9. I recently reinstalled w7 and consequently my software. PC is fairly up to date and not struggled before, Since then RC4 is constantly lagging. I can have a queue of instructions to respond to, particularly on approach, without even thinking about changing to a rnav. Grateful for any hints or tips... Regards David
  10. Reading the manual helped. Can now see the plane, and flies nicely, even with a nicely striked tail.... oops Now for the tutorial and the manuals...

  12. look closely you can just see the engine fans. I'm a bit disappointed with my external view! Regards David
  13. The post was slightly tongue in cheek. It's more that the bird makes it worthwhile spending the £800 to update on my previous PC that has dated at a depressingly fast pace.
  14. Dear PMDGA serious complaint. After purchasing the 737 NGX my elderly PC has struggled to keep it's frame rates up at airports. This has caused me much frustration. As a last resort it has now cost me £800 on a new PC, all so that I can fly. Please in future can you make your products less well in order that this never occurs again.PSIn all seriousness I can't wait to fly the bird once again...RegardsDavid Powell
  15. Yes with HF4.I finally got to do a whole test flight, or not. PC froze again. This happens even when paused at 250 nm (by rc4). I will retry a flight tommorow with just the plane and no extra's. Could this be a problem caused by what seems already to be a dated system...
  16. I'll just land my test flight 4 as it's looking good so far... (I say just, it's paused at 250 miles and that's where it will stay until the daughter is in bed and my parents sent on their way... I'm leaning to a fault in the routing that I loaded. Why it happened in different places is perplexing. The routing was created using routefinder, to make the route, which was then pasted into FS Build, which then saved it into PMDG format.
  17. sounds like fun. Presumably this is a built-in failure.
  18. Yes I work from home and have a SBS server. I use two PC's for flying - 'flightserver' and 'flightclient' Flightsever runs FSX and at the moment Radar Contact. ASE runs on the client, to try and reduce the load. I really need to upgrade Flightserver, but not happening for now.
  19. My last 737 NGX ended in diaster. All crew and passengers lost. 737NGX not at fault... This was due I think to having reached 250 miles out and RC putting it on pause. Windows Update then seems to have crashed in and decided to restart the PC. Nice. Positive step is that presumably the PC had not frozen at that point. Test flight 4 under way.
  20. The only difference is I had to load the CDU manually on the queen, rather than using a saved route as on the 737. I doubt that this is connected as it crashed in different places. I suppost I could manually load the route again and try the 737 on this basis. Otherwise I will uninstall and try again.
  21. Test flight with the Queen successfully completed. This is definitely a 737NGX issue. Any more suggestions anyone?
  22. Queen is currently stuttering along as we speak. She has a grace and presence, but compared to the NGX she feels a little dated. I wonder how true that would be in the real cockpits? Having said that my pC has not yet frozen, something which happen reguarly in the NGX. This is the test flight to rule out other bits of my system.
  23. I am also getting this since HF4. Note the fix (or is it fudge?), but it did not do this before.
  24. No Red Cross and no FSX error in Event Log.
