  1. Using all my scenery previously mentioned, I just did the flight from SBSP to SBGL again, using the FeelThere B733, and after turning off RW10, and contacting ground, the sound died, then a CTD w/restart. The module at fault was FE.dll. I have flown this plane all over the USA without this happening....not sure what's going on...anyone know what FE.dll does? Thanks,Jim
  2. Hi Hans,1. Of the top of your head, do you know if the FeelThere/Wilco B737 series (-300/400/500) and the PMDG 737NG series (-600 thru 900) are subject to those memory leaks? If so, that would suck, as those are my two favorite aircraft series, along with the Tinmouse II for the -200 series.2. My system only has a 350w power supply, so that could be a factor. It was custom built, and is totally open, so a new power supply shouldn't be a problem, outside of the cost.3. I use a soundblaster card, and I have disabled the on-board audio.Did you use Feelthere/Wilco's Citation X? If so, what do you think of it?Thanks for your help/suggestions,Jim
  3. Hi Fernando, Over the weekend I did some more testing with various aircraft, and some problems occurred - 1. Flight from Rio Santos Dumont to SBSP w/PMDG -700 (GOL Livery) - flight went perfectly, all the way through to shutdown at the gate, but FS9 crashed on exit and did a restart.2. Flight from SBSP to Rio (Jobim) w/FeelThere -733 (Varig Livery) - flight went perfectly until after I had turned off RW10 @ Jobim. While taxiing to the terminal and switching views to external and back to cockpit, the sound stopped, then FS9 crashed, and did a restart. (I encountered this problem once before on the same flight/same plane, but during climb out from SBSP - switching from cockpit to external view - sound stopped, FS9 crashed and restarted).3. Flight from SBSP to Jobim w/PMDG -700 (Varig Livery) - System ran out of memory during climb out of SBSP (I had been delayed on departure for about 20 mins, so that may have caused the problem, having everything loaded with such dense scenery for a long time). My system has 4GB RAM, and 200GB free space on my 2nd HDD, which is dedicated to FS9.FS9 also crashed on loading the PMDG @ SBSP one time, and did a restart. As I mentioned, I'm also using the Sao Paulo area scenery, as well as customized scenery for the Rio area, including Santos Dumont and Jobim airports. I also have customized sounds for both PMDG and FeelThere 737s. Ok, the rolling bounce really doesn't bother me that much...some runways are like that in the real world....but I hope a fix is in the works, anyway. I have only noticed this on the takeoff roll, and not the landing rollout, which is weird. Would it be possible to delete the helipads from the scenery to eliminate the crash on exit? I will do some more testing later, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep using this scenery, which would be a shame because it looks great. (I have the Varig and GOL Just Planes dvds, and you did a great job representing SBSP, for sure...it's the best I've seen yet!)Safe Flying in the real world (for both of us), Fernando!Jim Hi Hans,I have not done a scenery deactivation for the Sao Paulo area yet, as Fernando indicated the "rolling bounce" problem has been reported to him before my report of it, but I may try deactivating it to see if it has an affect on the crashes/freezes I experienced over the weekend....will keep everyone here posted....Thanks,Jim
  4. I installed this scenery and flew the pattern at SBSP with the Tinmouse II yesterday. I am using this scenery with the 10-part Sao Paulo package (from AVSIM library), and it all looks and works great! I am using FS9.1.I did encounter 2 unusual things - 1. During the takeoff roll, the Tinmouse (in Varig's livery) was bouncing up and down slowly and gently...more of a rolling bounce than a sharp one.2. I did experience an FS9 crash upon closing the program, after a successful ILS approach and landing at SBSP.Has anyone else also experienced the "rolling bounce" on the takeoff roll? I will do some more testing with other planes later to see if it's a constant problem or not.
  5. I'd buy a B717-200 in a heartbeat! I flew a level D simulator of this plane three years ago in Long Beach, and it was a blast! Cool looking plane too, and as previously mentioned, the last of the McDonnell-Douglas line....I practically cried when the last production line B717 departed KLGB a couple of years ago.
  6. Yes, you can use the airstairs on any 737 you wish. All you have to do is point the "model=" entry in the aircraft.cfg file to the airstairs model you want. For instance, I use them for all of my Southwest Airlines livery variations, both with winglets and without - For the winglets models - 2d cockpit only - model=WLAS VC cockpit - model=WLASVC VC cockpit & cabin - model=WLASVCCABNo winglets models - 2d cockpit only - model=ASVC cockpit - model=ASVCVC cockpit & cabin - model=ASVCCABEnjoy!
  7. Hi - while on short final into KLAS RW25L last night, my system crashed. Upon system reboot and restart of FS9, I received the message that PMDGOptions.dll is corrupted. (It also corrupted my LVLD.dll file). I have both the full 737NG series and QoS in FS9. Is there any way to extract/reinstall the PMDGOptions.dll file without doing a complete reinstallation of both the NG and Qos packages?? Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Jim
  8. >Happy new year, everybody!>>I have the 737NG (6/7 series) running in FSX. Installed it>with the normal installer, moved it from the aircraft>directory to the simobjects/airplane directory, moved the>gauges and sounds to their respective directories (see picture>1), started FSX, went through the warnings cycle (choosing>'yes' every time) and here we are: it runs! Hi Dirk - a question about how you did this - did you run the installer and redirect the path into FSX, or did you let it keep the original path into FS9, and then move the folders into FSX?I have both FS9 and FSX installed on the same system, but on different hard drives, so I have all of the folders for the 737-6/7/8/900 already within FS9 on its hard drive....(wondering if I could just copy the appropriate folders into FSX's simobjects/airplanes folder from FS9...I also have the 744 for both FS9 and FSX...wondering if doing above would work without causing the .dll problems)....Has anyone else tried this migration/copy to FSX from FS9, and if so, were there any problems resulting from it?Thanks,JimSWVA #4420
  9. Hi Everyone - I've discovered another problem since installing FSX on my system. (The first problem of dying frame rates for PMDG aircraft was solved by running the path utility from the NOTAM posted here). Now, it seems that when I go to change the airline configuration in the 737NG, from, say, Southwest Airlines to Hapag-Lloyd Express, FS9 disappears/crashes to desktop. Upon restarting it, the cockpit config change is there. A couple of times I've also had to reboot the system because not all functionality was there - i.e., VORs not appearing on the ND, generator switches unable to be turned on to transfer electrical power after engine start.Everything worked perfectly before I installed FSX on a separate drive on this system....Has anyone else experienced this strange behavior after an FSX install? Thanks,Jim
  10. Hmmmmm...I wonder how they check that important information?! Are there any real SWA 737NG pilots on this forum who can answer that?? Or other airline pilots/employees whose NGs use that layout?? (Later this month I'll be on a SWA 737NG flight, so if I get the opportunity, I'll ask the pilot.)Thanks,Jim
  11. Hi Mats - that's what I thought...do you know if that option will be included in the upcmong 737NGX version?Jim
  12. Hi Peter - I've played with the PMDG options, and the MFD switch options for ENG and SYS are both changed to INOP when the side-by-side EICAS is used, and will not display anything in the lower EICAS screen. The MFD switch options for SYS and ENG only seem to be available if the over-under EICAS layout is used. I guess there's no way to display data in the lower screen if side-by-side is used....at least that I can find...bummer....unless anyone has found a work-around....Thanks anyway,Jim
  13. Frame rates and 2D cockpit views' loading times are GREATLY increased by using the DXT3 textures - views loading in about 1.5 seconds, as opposed to the 8 to 9 second delay before!! In heavy scenery, there's still a HUGE improvement!!Thanks!!Jim
  14. I have a quick question about the side-by-side EICAS in the 737 - is it possible to view the SYS data (flight controls, APU, hydraulics, etc.) when using this configuration (a la Southwest Airlines)? I know the over-under EICAS (commonly used with PFD/ND) configuration allows it, but SWA uses side-by-side with their EFIS-MAP layout....can it be done? Thanks,Jim SWVA F.O.
  15. Thanks very much, Norman! I will load and test these textures when I get home today...I hope the 2-D cockpit views will load a lot faster as a result!Jim
  16. I must be blind - never a good thing for a pilot - where on the PSS site is the DXT3VC file??Thanks,Jim
  17. Hi John - Oh, man...I hope your reactivation goes smoothly! Good luck!!Jim
  18. Hi John - the problems you describe are EXACTLY the same problems I was having. I downloaded and ran the fs9path utility from Flight 1, and I've done two flights since - one with the 737NG and one with the 744 - and everything seems back to normal! :) (I was also experiencing the extreme frame drop with the 744 prior to running the fs9path fix, and it corrected that as well.) I also did not have to reinstall anything, much to my relief! So, it certainly seems that installing FSX on the same system as FS9.1 causes a problem with PMDG aircraft, even if it's installed on a separate hard drive. Thanks for posting the solution you found, as it seems to work in my case as well, and perhaps for others who may be experiencing this problem! And thanks to Capt. Randazzo for posting it originally!PMDG is the BEST!! I can't wait to see the MD-11, as well as their upcoming 737NG, Airbus, and of course the updated 744 for FSX!! :) AWESOME STUFF AWAITS!!!! :)Thanks again,Jim
  19. Hi Bill - Yes, FS9 and FSX are in separate directories, since they're on different hard drives.Nothing else has changed on my system, and FS9 is the only process hitting the CPU hard when it's running. This is a weird situation....no other aircraft addons (Level D, FeelThere, PSS) are having this same problem....do you think possibly deleting the FS9.cfg and .txt files might help? Any other ideas??Thanks,Jim
  20. sorry about that....I'm running it in FS9.1, NOT FSX...I have both on that same system.Jim
  21. Hi - this is my first post at the PMDG forum. I have a question concerning frame rates on the 737NG after installation of FSX on a separate, external drive - Before I did this, the frame rates were great - upwards of 25 - 30 FPS in general. (I have my FPS locked at 35). After installing FSX on that external drive, the frame rates drop to less than three...yes, THREE. This extreme drop happens once I start programming the FMC, and only with the main panel displayed. (Overhead, and the side views with the joystick hat are fine - still excellent frame rates for those after programming the FMC).I've tried loading the 2D cockpit only, 3D cockpit, and 3D cockpit & cabin - no change between any of those views.(I have not yet flown the 744 QoS...will test that later. All other addons are still ok w/frame rates).I have all models, all liveries, and all updates installed for this aircraft. My system is a 3.2GHz P4 w/HT, 1.5GB RAM, and a 128MB ATI video card...all hardware is a little over three years old.I LOVE this airplane in real life, and LOVE the PMDG version...but right now, I cannot fly it, which is upsetting, since I'm also a Southwest Virtual Airline F.O.! Has anyone else experienced this drastic FPS reduction problem post-FSX install? If so, any remedies??!Thanks,Jim BlakeSWVA F.O.
  22. Greetings all,I have experienced the problem of a server timeout when attempting to download and install the liveries for the B757. It gets to file 22 of 77, and then times out...this has happened several times... I just did a complete unistall and reinstall of the B757, and it happened again. I am running a 3.2 GHz system with 1.5GB RAM through a DSL/broadband connection. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any recommendations/solutions found would be most appreciated! Thanks,Jim
