    land 3 issue

    Loc is clearly green on the PFD yes AP is engagedapp becomes active and 3 autopilot lights are clearly visable as the aircraft decends on the slope. Hdg select is then pressed during land 3 no master warning ap disconect is heard and you can clearly see as hdg select button is pressed left and right autopilots lights go out V/S and speed engage. The center ap light never goes out there is no ap disconnect at any pointthis is one issue but the seccond one is that even when i do diconect the ap sometimes i am unable to get hdg select and speed mode to activate at all, there seems to be no pattern. When it does work it works fine but other times when i disconect then re connect ap those lights do not illuminate and the aircraft continues to follow the loc and glide slope as if in land 3 mode yet whilst app button light is on the left and right ap lights are not lit. and nothing i press on the mcp will alter this state . the aircraft will still track the glide slope and auto land as if in land 3 as long as i re connect the auto pilot. basically the aircraft will not leave land three mode at all as long as the ap is enguaged. even after it has been disconnected and re connected. The only way out is to either press toga or to manually fly it awaykav

    well it starts at 6000 ft and you clearly see LOC capture AP engaged . ATC then instruct " Oasis700 reduce speed to 220 and decend 4000 , continue inbound with the localizer your number 2, there is heavy traffic ahead of you i may just have to give you a slight alteration of track to give you the required spacing all let you know on course" the aircraft is on loc heading 260 decending to 4000 in v/s an spd select. ATC then say "oasis reduce speed to 180 kts" At this point glide slope has become active the autopilot is engaged and you can clearly see all three autopilots are lit and in land three. ATC then instruct "OASIS700 turn right to 320 degrees". Co pilot acknowlages and the captain reaches across and presses the heading select button and dails it to 320 imediatly after pressing it. You can clearly see that the left and right autopilots extinguish no autopilot disconnect master warning is heard as the center AP never goes off. V/S immediatly illuminates at the present decent rate heading select instantly becomes active and the aircraft turns to 320. The captain maintains the decentrate of the glide slope using vs. At no point is the aircraft flown manually. Captain increases speed back to flap 10 speed again to compenstae for the banking. The next few secconds are missed out where atc intruct return vectors to the localizer . next you see app mode selected and the aircraft lining up again on the loc and fully etablished on loc and glide and back in land 3 .................to landno AP disconect at all and its very clear in the dvd it was not possible that it was edited out as the relevant section is completekav

    i did try this yes it seemed to make no difference, but getting back to land 3 was not the problem it was leaving land 3 for hdg select that was the problem. Also in the dvd there was not AP disconect to enable hdg select from land 3 mode the captain simply pressed the hdg selector and it activated kav

    I have been testing this scenario again and once established in land 3 with three autopilots sometimes i was able to discon the AP , then re connect just one of 3 and v/s and hdg select were available and i was able to reconnect land three by pressing app othertimes absolutely nothing but land 3 even with just one a/p lit the aircraft continued to follow the loc and glide slope as if in land 3 nothing else on the mcp worked (v/s, hdg, etc)kav
  5. after watching my Oasis hongkong dvd where on finals to Gatwick atc instruct the captain to turn right from the localizer ( hdg 260 approx) to hdg 320 for spacing after the aircraft is fully establised on the glide slope and in land 3 config AP on. The captain simply presses heading select to go to the required heading and uses Vnav to maintain the decent on the glide slope as land 3 mode automaticaly cancells when heading select is introduced.i thought i would try this myself with the 747x but found that when i tried to press heading select after land 3 had activated nothing happened i was not able to turn off land three unless i disconected the AP . Even when i did this app mode switch was still illuminated and i could not extinguish it, i even turned off the FD and AT but still no luck. I could not change the heading with the autopilotKav

I am flying the pmdg 747 x .the problems is not wind shifts that is a seperate issue i have had that too which is why i disable turbulance in asx and fsuipc.asx says that virtual atations and enhanced route coverage on may result in innacurate wind data if i recall and as this problem is all about that i do not check those optionsthe problems is that the wind in the sim does not represent the wind in the briefing for exampleif i am flying at say fl340 just passing a particular waypoint i note the wind speed and direction and then look across to my network pc running asx and process the briefing flight plan at the same flight level and check the data for that same waypoint and rarely? (never in fact) are the winds the same speed or direction as they are in the sim. usaully way out sometimes similar but this is rare often up to 30 50 knots out in speed and 120 degrees out in directioni can post a couple screen shots showing the PND with wind speed and direction at a particular waypoint and the asx briefing for that same waypoint and what you will see is completely different data in each so there is little point i can simply tell you this . I have never been able to cure this problemrunning asx on 2nd xp machine no network problems and fsx sees asx connected yet the winds aloft in fsx almost never represent those detailed in the briefing and i have tried all different settingsother weather settings like pressure and clouds tend to be ok, yet tyhe winds are no where near what the briefing says they should be?please dont ask me if i have the same problem if i run asx on the fsx machine because i dont run it on the fsx machine and dont intend tosome how the data from asx regarding wind direction and speed just does not filter through to the simkav
  9. hii have found out from the team that it was not possible to have the full dome lighting in the 747 x without an engine running because"The dome light effect had to programmed as a Smoke attempt. Since the dome light is a smoke effect, and will not work because FSX requires that the engines are running for smoke (don't ask me why). We have found a work around for the MD11 project but at this time, its not possible to implement for the 747-400X."so i was just curious as to what you meant when you said"No problems here. Once ground power or APU is established it comes on fine"how have you overcome this?thankskav

  11. ever since the fsx version i have never been able to get full dome lighting during pre flight without an engine running. The majority of the flightdeck is very dark excluding the overhead, ped and main panel/mcp. As soon as an engine is started the rest of the flight deck illuminates. This never used to happen in the fs9 version and is no good for the pre flight at night. I dont see why normal lighting should be dependent on the engines generator supplied power, its clear to see from pictures and videos that the flight deck can be very bright before engine start on the real aircraftground power or apu power does not make any differenceanyone noticed this issuekav
  12. i have been flying the pmdg 747 since it first came out and am pretty experienced with it, i can say that i have seen a situation where the aircraft reaches its mcp set altitude in vnav but overshoots slightly then tries to correct but is heavy handed and over compensates and drops below the assigned alt this tends to continue and repest or worsen with speed deterioration slightly unless there is pilot intervention in the form of AP diconnect and manualy achieve level flight then re connect the auto pilot and allis well. This is something that only happens from time to time sometimes wind shiftss are a factor but other times i can find no explainationis this what you are seeing??kav
  13. my network connection works fine for everything elsei am currantly enroute vhhx to egll and yet again on the pmdg 747 ND i see no winds at all when the brief says a constant headwind all the way of between 25 and 40 knottskav
  14. have tried with all on some on and all off including fsuipc and still the samealso asx seems to go to sleep, as in after a while wind seems to disapear from fsx and clouds , so i refresh , nothing happens usaully , so i restart sax and suddenly weather appears again but not the weather in the breifingkav

This program never seems to work correctlysince i have had it from initial release although it shows its connected over the network the weather in asx is rarely represented correctly in fsx particulaly winds aloft which are ofthe almost from the opposite direction and different speed to the asx map and briefingyes ive re started ive refreshed ive tried it all still the same what is the point in trying to calculate fuel if the date im using is comletely wrongwhy why whykav
  16. do you know how to set up tiller only no rudder movement with the joystick twist grip with fsuipc while taxing by perhaps the use of a key press to switch between that and the normal setup for takeoff and landing , flight etc? i just want a way of eliminating the rudder controll surfaces moving when steering on the ground with the tillerKav
  17. well its the way the camera sweeps smoothly past the aircraft in extarnal shots throughout the video as if the camera is on tracks like in a movie rather than the usaul fs spot view where the center of the aircraft is always center shot as you pan around the plane and the movements are jerky because you are using the hat switch on the joystickkav
  18. does anyone know what software they used to capture the video here, what i mean is how they panned the camera around in this artistic way i just dont know anyway of achieveing these smooth pannes and camera movements, it is definately not done with trakir or the mouse or key presses from what i can tell . anyone?kav
  19. so i am assuming from all these detailed replies that when i have seen the pilots performing the rudder controll surface checks during the taxi to the active they do indeed have to hold the tiller straight with their hand in order to prevent the nose wheel turning when depressing the rudders, i have seen this in certain flight deck vidoes and guessed that this was the reasonkav
  20. and you can see the animated tillers moving in the PMDG QOTS as in the real world what is unrealistic in the sim is the movement of the rudder surface during tiller opperated taxi turns although i thgink there is still some sort of connection. Perhaps someone else can answer what the connection is between the tiller and the rudder peddals as you see the pilots holding the tiller straight when they perform the rudder controll surface checks . I know that the rudder pedals do provide limited nose weel steering for roll out and the TO roll so may be this is the reason, and the tiller overides the rudder steeringanyone??Kav
  21. they each gave a tiller for steering which is located under the front side window of each pilot respectivly and they do indeed just manually adjust the throttles for the required thrust to acheive taxi speed. I often hear them increase the thrust for sharp turns to compensate for the increased resistance, as i work at heathrowkav
  22. Yes the auto throttle is definately switched on, i thought it may be to do with the pmdg overide options for throttle but it happens with this selected or notkavkav
  23. when i press toga after manually increasing the throttles to 70% the n1 and epr jumps up and down and will not reach the correct thrust setting. Only when i press toga from engine idle does it perform correctly and smoothly no fluktuationshas anyone else seen thisi have the latest patch kav
  24. well at the start of this thread i said that the weather was dissapearing in fsx shortly after it was sent from asx but would then appear again as soon as i shut down asxi tried this again and again the weatherr would appear for a very short time then disappear and only re appear when i finally shut down asx in fact the instant i shut it down the weather would re appearthat is what i meantkav
