    elevator droop

yes that's the topic I couldn't quite remember what it said but ok so will now test by leaving centre hyd powered and see if the right droops \edit; no droop in right elevator but left flaperon droops right one stays neutral cheers kav

    elevator droop

no elevators don't drop . just rudder swings free and flaperons drop as usual kav

    elevator droop

What sparked my interest in this off was yesterday after landing after a long haul flight and returning to the aircraft many hours after landing where it had been left as it was after shut down I discovered the both elevators were in a droop position . I had never seen this before so after pressuring the hyd system I tried to replicate it but nothing I could do could cause them to droop again . so I did some research online and found a pic of a 777 with the right side elevator drooped. it was suggested in airliners.net that this was probably caused by hyd press bleed off over some time in one of the hyd systems that power the right side. anyway this still did not explain what I had seen with my pmdg 777 with both drooped. thinking about it after trying everything I could with no success I figured I must have somehow depressurized all hyd systems with the yoke pushed forward and once pressure was gone it remained in that position giving the illusion of double elevator droop. so I tried to recreate this today holding the yoke forward etc etc and it was really tricky to do with the joystick location and set up I have so I really don't see how I managed it yesterday inadvertently anyway the mystery continues......... can any beta testers confirm weather droop is modelled cheers kav

    elevator droop

I have let it sit for many hours today to test this no droop yet but will try the failure method and report back cheers EDIT; ok activated leaks in all hyd systems and no droop kav

    elevator droop

can anyone flying or with working knowledge of the 777 answer why there is no elevator droop with the 777 or is it simply not modelled with the pmdg version? I can only assume its not modelled because surely if there is no pressure then the weight of them will cause them to droop sooner or later when the hyd pressure bleeds off.I mean there cant be some kind of locking mechanism can there ? what would be the purpose of that? for them to remain in position can only mean there is still pressure in the system holding them up but how can there be when the hyd system is depressurised? or is there just enough to maintain them even when its off? anyone have a factual answer to this cheers kav
  7.     Hi its exactly the same principle for the lift type pushback truck as the towbar regarding the pin. the lift type truck does not have any form of articulation mechanism at all it ridgidly holds the nose wheel in a fixed position (centered to the truck) gripping the wheel with rams.and the wheels remains locked in this position relative to the truck as its lifted and turn with the truck as the truck turns hense the need for the pin to disconnect the pressure so there is no conflict. jack up trucks are very common and appear to be increasing in use from what I have seen. cheers kav
  8. hi keithy I also noticed this about matts tutorial he has made a mistake regarding pax capacity I messeged him about it. As mentioned here already 234 is the max pax capacity for all variants/ liveries of the pmdg 777. The max pax weight (234) in the pmdg777 is 45700.0 lbs 20729.2 kgs. weight per pax is 195.299145299 lbs . remaining cargo max total capacity is 116770 lbs .( forward = 39090 lbs aft = 27030 lbs bulk = 4950 lbs) to convert to kgs divide figures by 2.20462 oh and also regarding pfpx the individual passenger weight figure used to calculate the total weight is not accurate to the pmdg 777.so you will need to either reduce the tot pax amount or reduce cargo amount to compensate. the fmc will give you all these figures if you want to spend the time doing the maths. just adjust the loads and watch the zfw change as you do so and you will see the difference between pfpx and fmc figures and its obviously fmc that counts. empty operating weight is 344200 lbs by the way hope this helps kav
  9. every woman I know hates it fs including girlfriends past and present. bores them all to tears and call us all geeks need to get myself a flightsimming woman I think kav
  10.     hey Kimberly so rare to see a woman who likes fs and flying airliners particularly for long haul how did you ever get in to this geeky hobby ( you don't look geeky from your picture) and what exactly is it that you like about it because is a usually such a guy dominated hobby just interested cheers kav

    escape routing

    Ok yes thanks kav

    escape routing

perhaps someone could help me understand how routing works over high ground in commercial aviation. from what I can tell from various dvds an airliner cannot safely fly over terrain higher than 10000 ft incase of a sudden cabin decompression unless it is able to reach and area with max terrain height of 10000 ft within ten mins of the decompression. this must make routing pretty restrictive as ten mins is not a long time and at approx. 495 kts means a dist of approx. 80 nm. therefore you have to be within 80 nm of terrain of 10000 or less at all times during the flight? have I understood this correctly? .so based on this I wonder why there are numerous airways around the world that defy this logic and rout over terrain of plus 10000 to 22000 in some cases such as southern china and are also way beyond 80 nm of safe terrain height of 10000 can anyone help explain how this rule is meant to work in reality tks kav
  13. its all very nice and clearly more realistic than a keyboard and mouse etc but why go to the lengths of creating a replica half mip and ped and not make its accurately. there are so many areas of it I can clearly see in these shots that are not accurate in shape and contours to the real thing surely if you can make it that shape as thay have then they could also make it the right shape and get it right. to spend so much money to have this and it not actually be a true representation of the real thing rather a close attempt but not quite there whould really get to me dont get it ? unless its just so much harder to get the shapes accurate then it beats me but maybe I don't understand how much more that takes in such a replica product I mean even by eye its easily and instantly visable what needs adjusting and how surely that's better than noting if real 777 measurements are not available? kav
  14. hey I did a similar polar route this week which took me within 200 nm of the n pole and at aroud that point the aircraft started to gradually veer off lnav a number of times I had to correct using hdg select each time and as soon as the track started to lead away from the pole this stopped. my routing klaxvtbs GMN4 GMN DCT AMONT V459 FRA J7 FMG J5 SEA DCT BOXEX DCT 60N123W DCT XOVAR DCT BIBOX DCT COTLO DCT 70N126W 75N129W DCT TAVRI DCT PEASY DCT 85N150W DCT NALIM DCT KUBON DCT IRMAK DCT ROMUL DCT SALAK DCT OLEMU G112 LUMIG B155 IRKUP A492 OSKEN A823 LETBI B480 MORIT DCT GOBIN B330 JTG G212 XFA A581 SAGAG B218 LPB B346 BKK nearly 17 hours with mostly head wind also magnetic heading selected automatically after 70 n and on the subject of true heading I noticed that real wourd 777 routes across oceans also switch to true whilst over the ocean ive seen this in 777 flightdeck dvds im not entirely sure why they would do this though........... anyone? kav

  23. Small gap under the glareshield in the external mdl vc where the backside cul in max is allowing daylight to be seen through the underside of glare. see pics Pretty minor but as its a very simple fix probably less than 5 mins to do in max just thought I would suggest it for the up coming update. tks kav
