  1. can anyone direct me to which of the manuals this data is in as I am struggling to fing anything other that abnormal condition tables like engine inop and gear down cruise etc. I really just want to work out fuel amounts. take off performans ei v speeds vs weight and derated take off including derated temperature figures. and also trim setting tables and take off pitch. cant find any such tables in any of the manuals? thanks kav

    no tail logo light

generic pilot controls aircraft lights enabled yes but been through every page of fmc options and can only find ref to floods and splashes flood colours and light key assignments that's it kav
  5. ok Thanks all for your help here. following Kyles advice about the name not needing to match other than the icao code for dep and arr. I changed the name of the file from KEDWEGLL04.wx which is the exact name of the flight loaded in the co route to KEDWEGLL.wx and its was accepted I did nothing else differently saving both as all files . was something about the 04 that prevented the fmc reading the icao codes correctly its appears kav

ive only flown emirates livery but noticed no logo light illuminating the tail despite the switch being on at night. all other lights ok kav
  9. ive tried all the tips to get this working saving as all files in notepad .wx and matching same flight number but keep getting " invalid entry" no idea what to try next kav
  10. hi what exactly do you hate about it and what exactly do you like about simming ie what is it that draws you to simming . for example for me its the submersion factor that sort of carries me away. although I love the complexity of systems and turning knobs and using the fmc I need more than just that now daysthats simp[ly not emersive enough for me I need extremely complex systems as well as great 3d eye candy to get the same kick out of simming I used to be able to get from soley 2d panel flying that's why using the vc is essential to me. anything else is unrealistic visually plus a real flight deck is a 3d environment so the vc is the only way for me, I too have been flying in fs for a long time before vc's ever existed so made the transition. the trickiest part of only using a vc is trying to click and turn knobs and buttons sometimes if there is turbulence etc like heading select for example but I just have a hot key to turn off ezdoc or what ever im using momentarily if necessary.also using ezdoc preset close up views for thing like the fmc is very handy . makes things much easier than manually zooming and panning in to the key pad when ever u have to punch in to it etc. I could never go back now kav
  11. thanks Ryan. im assuming when you say photos of the vc you mean a UVW template was made of all the panels and then the graphic artist either manipulated real photos or drew the panels on to the template in photoshop then re applied to the vc again etc etc vic
  12. what comes first the 2d panel grapics or the VC? what i mean is is the VC geometery buillt around the 2d main panel bitmaps or is the VC made first and then the 2d bitmaps drawn to fit the geometaryso there is no streatching?. I can see that with the pmdg747 the same 2d panel bitmap is used in the VC. so i am interested to know what came first? and how this is done? i would also like to know how all the fonts are done so accurately as per real world boeing panels. is each letter draw by hand or is there a way of doing this simply by typing. I am curious because boeing panel fonts are not standard in photoshop so where do they come from. same goes for the guages and displays?? thanks vic
  13. yes this is precisely the reasoning logic behind the graphics offset and why its actually a valid observation. This philosophy probably not such an issue for a twin engine jet as it would be for a 4 engine aircraft due to the extra clutter to the eye but none the less it all helps. vic
  14. Clum yes thats true, and usually those that are not qualified to do so really. im actually not the one that bought this up im not bothered or interested questioning them or submitting a tickiet or getting it fixed because i know exactly how things work from the otherside being a beta tester, im just making a point here about the facts of the real aircraft in response to other statements boldly claimed as fact earlier in this thread. EDIT: and also because i dont even own a copy of the NGX And weather fixed or not its a real shame that people might feel too intimidated in this forum by a small handfull of" unqualified self appointed forum police" who think its their role to tear in to anyone that they may happen to disagree with. And particulally in this case where it is actually a valid point/query innoccently made by the origional poster. The alignment of the graphics on upper and lower eicas are actually true to life and a thought out part of the NG MIP's design stratergy by Boeing. designed that way for the pilots deliberately. its no accident because naturally it would be bang in the middle otherwise. vic
  15. like i said before , things do get missed even by top addon developers i know im a beta tester myself. sometimes even known issues are beyond the resources /time limitations to put right. Its all about prioritizing and compromize. vic
  16. Hmmmm............i guess ill just have to look a bit harder for some photos of those centered graphics because i cant for the life of me seem to find any such thing. probably because it does not exist. Im not entirely sure how you might know PMDG had thair reasons for deliberately doing that unless you are part of the dev/b tester team or connected with the company in some way. i seem to recall you previously said that you wernt. vic
  17. oh must have missed where that was said......................where was that said earlier? and when you say centered are you taliking about the whole lwr eicas screen or just the engine graphics? Actually i dont think it matters what real life version of the NG it would be the graphics were always inline deliberately including the actual one the NGX was based on vic
  18. There is a reason that the lower eicas graphics are not centered (to the screen) in the real aircraft and that is because they are deliberately offset and placed precicely inline vertically with the engine graphics on the upper eicas. This is done for scan flow smoothness. So it is infact an important factor on the real aircraft even if it may appear a minor graphics oversight on the NGX.Its also very possible that this was infact picked up by one of the beta team but may not have been actioned for many reasons such as work load and deadline time constraints you just never know its all a balence and compromise particulally close to release not everything can get fixed even if its known about. vic
  19. nice video, can you tell me exactly how you got such smooth camera panning? thanks vic
  20. what problem are you haveing with max2012 exactly and what progs/games are you wanting to export too? vic later versions of max are pretty demanding on resorces, If you have very complex scenes for example. Rendering times are where the biggest hit occurs and for slower machines this this is where you may get problems. If you not rendering then not such a problem. vic
  21. Dithanks, how do you know about all that? I know that texturing is a big part of modelling in as much as uvw unwrapping and mapping has to be done by the modeller, or at least it has to be done from within 3dsmax its self. so i am assuming from what you say that either the texture guys have access to max or they just work on the texture multi bitmaps as arranged by the moddelers. If the latter is the case it must be hard as i find you need to keep looking at your progress within max to see how the textures are looking withing the program. i know many modellers do the texture work and modelling them selves so just interested to know how this works. are you connected in some way with the guys at PMDG then? thanks vic
  22. do Vin and Jason work full time for PMDG ? and do you know what version of 3dsmax they use? Does PMDG have specific texture guys or do the 3d moddelers do the detailed texture work for the vc vic
  23. i was amazed to discover that boeing used the first ever 747 protatype as a flying test bed for the new 777 engine made by pratt and whitney. they borrowed it from the museum it was collecting dust in. This seems like a strange choice as this aircraft must have not been airworth for many many years and would surely have taken a huge amount of work to get it back to flying condition, even the engines alone would have been a huge task i imagine? vic
  24. For those that are looking forward to the 777 you may wish to while away a few hours watching this very detailed multiple part doc on the development story of the 777. Just beware the numbering system may seem a little confusing in the titles at first as the main title numbering differs from the sub heading numbering. this first one is 1-1 meaning part 1 of episode 1. vic
  25. here is an interesting documentary on the making of the 777. boeing actually discuss the reasoning behind the flight deck colour scheme at 3:40. well worth a watch vic
