  1. Aerosoft should be releasing one in the somewhat near future, though it has been in development for a long time. You might take a look at their preview forum for some screen shots etc.
  2. It sounds to me like there's a thermal on your approach. I've had this happen sometimes and it always makes for a go around or a really rough landing. Try going into weather settings and checking the box "Disable turbulence and thermal effects on your aircraft" and see if that helps.
  3. I've had this happen numerous times. It's worse when you're just about to touch down and a plane is taking off on the same runway in the opposite direction. I use Super Traffic Board to help eliminate these types of conflicts. http://www.supertrafficboard.com/index_STB.html
  4. I have the same issue. I can install one livery, but if I try to install others, they all disappear in the livery manager. However, all of the texture folders still exist, only the fltsim.xx entries for the aircraft.cfg file are missing.
  5. According to this DailyMail story (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1382859/Osama-bin-Laden-dead-Photo-Obama-watching-Al-Qaeda-leader-die-live-TV.html) it looks like four helos went in, and due to the destruction of the one left behind, the other three were used to pull the team out. It's my understanding that the intention may have been to remove additional OBL's family members and/or guards, but they weren't able to and had to leave them behind because of the disabled helicopter.
  6. Very interesting stuff indeed. I remember when the whole F-19 story was going on; F-19 Stealth Fighter was actually my first flight simulator. Of course it didn't bear much resemblance to the F-117 but the speculation was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this one.
  7. I used to do crazy long flights like from Chicago to Shanghai. At the time I used simfly so I could take off before going to work, then monitor the flight at work, then come home and land. The only downside was a few times I was at work I'd see my 747 flying crazy, losing altitude, then crashing and all I could do was watch and feel bad for my virtual passengers. Now I don't normally do a flight over 3 hours and use time compression if its longer. I'll still leave the computer to watch tv, eat dinner and such though, but at least I can take over if the plane starts acting up.
  8. Great read Benjamin. Sometimes it's too easy to get pessimistic with FSX; I've also run into that dreaded black screen problem but everything sounds like its running correctly, which on my computer usually ends with FSX crashing. So annoying. That being said, I'm still amazed, that every so often, I end up in a situation while flying where everything just comes together in the most remarkable and realistic ways, and I get a sense of truly flying. Those instances make it all worth it to me and I usually walk away from the computer thinking, Wow! Totally worth it! :( Seth
  9. I'm 37 and a graphic designer in Oklahoma City. I've been into flight simming since FS4 (and F-19 for those that flew MicroProse's sims) but somehow missed the universe of addons until FSX.Seth
  10. I have cockpit chatter and find it to be useful. There are a few things to keep in mind though. It can have a difficult time understanding you if you have your speakers too loud, especially if ATC is talking. It also seems like it reduces frame rates a little, but not much. It works great with the default planes, but it isn't fully functional with some payware planes. It sometimes will crash on my computer while running through checklists as well. All of that said, I think its still handy. It's nice being able to tell your "co-pilot" to set headings, speed, flaps, gear, lights and such when you're busy doing other things, like landing :( Seth
