  1. Greetings, After several tries in years past, I have decided to reopen Virtual NOAA with a twist; the flight training is not really fictitioous and is real world as Vatsim requires real world for VSOA inclusion (there may or may not be a website/forum issue where we have to use a pay-to-play here; personally I think this is counterintuitive but what do I know; I am working on this issue as well as a temporary forums issue). Weather Hunters is sometimes called Hurricane Hunters but this is NOT what we are...we are Virtual NOAA; more information is located at: http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaa/ with the current news and updates located at: http://www.freewebs.com/vncvw9/ Eventually all news and info will be on the VNOAA site as I am standing down Virtual Navy; besides VNOAA will be tons more fun trust me. Hawkeyez CEO/Cmdr
  2. Greetings, I am using Windows 7 64 bit and doing a live Demo of FSX Installation along with FSINN connect to Vatsim. My system has 4 gigs of ram and I am using 'almost' the latest and greatest video drivers, which is not necessary. Most of the tips and tidbits everyone knows by now - I just thought it would be kool to show this in action ! I am installing the first major portion in a few minutes; watch it live at: http://www.twitch.tv/cdr_hawkeyez The rest of the install will happen, hopefully, at 8PM give or take and is expected to run 2 hours. I also use FSX for my own VA/VSOA on Vatsim - feel free to check it out ! Cordially, MrZeta !
  3. Hello,Hmm KNBC - well our flight training program will or may have marine pilots in training once that is in place - I thught I was gonna be busy here with something else now I guess I wont so I can go back to a more enjoyable relaxing hobby called real flightsimming on Vatsim.....There is a virtual marines group though coming back I hope it works out I used to be a member...I am geared a littler more to newer pilots who want to fly virtual military flightsimming without as much rigormaro as VUSN does to their people...but if they want to move on thats ok too I been with VUSN and they are what they are if that is what pilots want I say go for it.Not sure who MAG-31 is but well there is a Mig-31 that has chased me down a few times in Falcon 4 AF...now that is a SIM !Fair Winds !
  4. What is the deal with discontinued aircraft 'models' ??? How does this affect any model entrant as long as it's specifications meet real world and the model cannot physically exceed it without breaking up - well FSX will break it - FS2004 will not.I am for a 70/30 ratio of free to payware and dont feel that just because a model was discontinued pay to go free that disallowing it into RTW is an issue; did I miss something?Blake
  5. This Virtual Navy group is on hold til after RTW...I am inviting Avsim members to apply !! Get in early and get a command staff postion !!Blake
  6. Please Please make sure all Alphasim models are on this WHITELIST - none of them to my knowledge over the previous years of RTW flying have I ever seen any of these models exceed ANY RTW specifications...thanks!!!Blake
  7. Hello,This problem is solved with this method:Start FSX - you are probly in a default flight...'End' the flight back to the opening screen...go to settings and allow the opening screen to appear on startup - DO NOT go into your default flight. Now the lengthy part...:)All your settings are correct right...realism sliders left, download winds aloft, no AI, real WX download every 15 min etc...but still red WX on Duenna...never fear the Zeta dude is here HAHA !Save your flight (full fuel etc ready to go)...DO NOT make it a default flight.Trash your FSX .cfg file ..yeah you know it...redo all the buttons...Now restart FSX...load the flight you saved aboveHit the RESET flight to rest the flight (this is an option doesnt take long)......save the flight again<<<<<<<in a different file...DO NOT make it default but remember this flight as it will be your RTW default startup flight. I always use a default model as well like the Bch350<<<End flight...Exit<<<<<EXIT<<<<<EXIT FSX.Here I would even reboot but not necessary....Restart FSX, you are in the loading screen now..load the flight you saved above...start Duenna and lo and behold...Green Duenna! The trick is not to save a default flight and use it, and you have to save a flight that works for Duenna, and not make it default to automatically enter on starting the sim...:)Blake
  8. Please ensure that Alphasim aircraft are on this whitelist they were used in the past and are good freeware aircraft; they are stable but abit slow.My Tigercat maxed a little over 400knots GS yesterday with an avg GS of 325.]I need a copy of this list could someone PM it to me; mediafire is a dangerous place to download files; if you want to lose your computer to a virus for 2 weeks go for it; you have been warned.Blake
  9. Howdi,There is a reason for replying to the original poster not the last poster - forgot what it was....There is a specific format to follow when making the actual post - IE like...I have the baton at knyy in the Alphasim Tigecat headed to kzuu.etc...I think that is abit lengthy - I got this from flightsim well I aint at flightsim anymore so I would prefer a different format:I have the BATON KNYY to KZUU in the Alphasim Tigercat.Having the to/from ICAO's so far apart is unreadable...ALSO put the to/from in the TITLE of the post.Maybe that has to be edited but I dont know if you can edit the title.Dont forget to post first and add the data right after... ! I remember these things !Blake
  10. Howdi Fellas,Well here I am...I flew with Flightsim the last 2 years and thought I was an accepted friend - it seems as though a select few dont want me around for whatever reason and I am tired of them making this more than a hobby anf fun thing to do: flightsimming. They have pushed me to a limit and I have broken down and not shedding a tear they will probly ban me I dont care.Lets make this the winning team this year and kick the tires and let a few pounds of pressure out of them so when we land after our flight we can relax and have a brewski with the crew.I am already a member and should have the private forum info somewhere...someone just send me the TS3 info I will look for it.I flew here 3 years ago with you all - I know Hamachi if you are using it.All I ever do is fly my simulator in my VA and have put 500 hours into the sim on Vatsim and was a real pilot in a Piper Cherokee 140 for 40 hours - I miss it; that is what health will do to ya.But I am happy and am glad to be here to support you all.I will be using FSX this year I have the kinks worked out and Duenna working and wil hit the practice threads asap.My Aircraft:Tigercat Alphasim and Shupe If I need to but prefer AlphasimF86P38Bch350 - defaultCaravan - defaultThe New Piper CubFlightsim had this thing going about a whitelist and I cannot access SOH - if you are all in line with this goings on could you please PM me with this list.Again I also need the TS3 info and I will be on tonite EST...I cant wait to be back here with you guys - I only left because I wanted to fly with other groups and meet new people - wow what a mistake I made over there - you all are so much more laid back it is not funny...and not only that you all got the 'RIGHT STUFF' .Let's just not do the Epic Lite thingy I am sure we are on target with that one LOL...that was too bad too the race was so close last year.Good luck to you all I am rootin for ya and glad to be back with ole friends...Blake - AKA MrZeta
  11. Hello Virtual Navy Aviators! The VNCVW9 - Virtual Navy Carrier Wing 9 is only one Navy carrier wing of several; I chose the 9th for a few reasons, and I think it is a good choice.Carrier Wing 9's fixed base of operations is Lemoore, Calif. and is one of 4 Wings there ! Lots of potential for virtual navy activity here!! (We are only one wing). The VNCVW9 will be the parent organization of VNATC (it's flight training program); it's members will organize and run VNATC - the Virtual Naval Aviator Training Corps - a somewhat fictitous logistical organization which models real world flight training missions and bases.VNATC is created mostly for logistics and liason to the various virtual naval, NOAA, coast guard, and marines flight training bases. The VNATC concept is suggestive of possible online Vatsim pilot flight training standardization, as both VA and VSOA flight standards are flown against. The websites have been updated allowing access to the member forum; read down thru the main page to get to the training site; on the training site you will find the link on the main page to the training forum where pilots may sign up: http://vncvw9.webs.com/We will run VA-type flight operations until we get 10 active members flying for 3 months; this is the Vatsim requirement to sign up as a VSOA. Once this membership is active we will move the websites to a 'pay' site just prior to signing up as a VSOA.As you can see, having a VSOA on Vatsim requires some amount of dedication...now the ground work is almost in place we can start flying! If you go thru training you can also qualify for VUSCG Dist 7 or VNOAA as well! ADM "Hawkeyez" Gray - XO VNCVW9/VNATC
  12. Hello Pilots !After not much deliberation, seeing that my VNOAA VA is on somewhat of a hold status (!) mostly due to training missions in tact, I decided to beef up the training missions for VNOAA's future (possible) VSOA status, and in doing so decided to create a Virtual Navy Wing.Since both units require Virtual Naval Aviator Flight Training, it seemed as an option to create this Virtual Navy Wing as the parent owner of the Naval Aviator Training (Corps) as I call it. The reason it is a 'Corps' is that is made up of pilots across possible VSOA platform members, as well as the flight training locations not being limited to one Naval Air Station, and I need commanders across the board; thus the VNATC or Virtual Naval Aviator Training Corps was borne.Being that VNOAA may not be realized for awhile, CVW9 as the parent owner of VNATC will then be created as a potential VSOA on Vatsim, and provide the 'corps' instructor pilots for VNATC.CVW9, or Carrier Wing 9 has several squadrons.I am looking for liason between all virtual VSOAs on Vatsim to work as teams for training and competition. All of our flights will be on Vatsim; we do not use private servers. Our website is totally new and has the pilot/staff member entry point. Please visit:http://vncvw9.webs.com/To sign up !Space will be limited and command staff is on a get there first basis; HOWEVER (!) please note that I will be inviting Vatsim pilots for command staff positions first; after the invitations are out and any staff positions filled, I will open up the staff positions left over to the Vatsim public.New pilots may still join and vye for top (and 'TOPGUN' (!)) positions; command positions are based on prior training on Vatsim; see the website. The forum will have a location to enter pilot info if needed; I need Vatsim IDs in there to verify hours. I also need to verify VSOA training if anyone has it.TOPGUN pilots are selected from the CVW9 F18 pool to fill command slots in the F18 'TOPGUN' squad, then from there one other particular squad not mentioned here (!); it will be awesome! The only thing is, this isnt happening overnight ! The VNATC Virtual Naval Aviator flight training may last at least a month or more; everyone goes through it - even me and I am doing most fo the grunt work! For me personally I dont do the dogfighting portion much (!); I doubt I will ever be a TOPGUN; that is not my goal. One of my goals is to get a pool of Virtual Naval Aviator pilots qualified on Vatsim that I can fill the VNOAA slots with. Also it is possible that the training will fulfill Vatsim Pilot Standard qualification rules; most of that training can be found on the Vatsim PRC site; probly the best place to start for people entering CVW9 or any VSOA for that matter. So Good Luck Future CVW9 Pilots !ADM "Hawkeyez" Gray (Oh ya I took a little promotion too haha!)
  13. Hello Flightsimmers:Virtual NOAA models for the most part the real world NOAA.This VA is, and always will be, a work in progress. This VA is READY to accept pilots , mission designers, and an aircraft painter, amongst other types of personnel not mentioned here. The VNOAA public website is located at:http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaa/The forum location is listed on the main page, and is where new members are required to sign up. It seems that some people may have missed or cant see the link which is beyond my understanding. Each of the menu items on the left are clickable, not just the submenus. But for clarity sake I will add the forum link here:http://virtual-noaa.proboards.com/There is a public as well as a private website for for VNOAA, as well as a TS3 server whenever I am available. You will note that there is also another 'VA' on the website - it is called vUSCG7 for District 7, and is not affiliated with any other vUSCG; also, and more important, it will not be activated unless there are the required number of members to fill the slots for VSOA status. It may be possible to activate vUSCG7 before vNOAA becomes active, but the management has to be there for that to happen. And this is why I am here - to let people know vNOAA is looking for a few good quality pilots looking to improve their skills, and the piloting skills of others to make vNOAA a VSOA on Vatsim; until then, vNOAA flies as a VA, with a little less than half of it's operations restricted.I am managing the website; report any missing links directly to me; I am looking into the matter as the website server had a hiccup a week or so ago.VADM Gray - CEO/XO vNOAA
  14. Hello Flightsimmers, Tired of those long flights in a big jet ! Want to do some tree-top flying or fly around major storms to gather important data to aide in weather forecasting; that is part of our missions. Other missions include relief, transportation, and marine wildlife observation and transportation. There may be some SAR as well. We will be FS9/FSX (Mostly FSX) compatible, and some coordination will be invloved with other VSOAs and ARTCCs; some S1 ATC possible. Aircraft will be small to large turboprops, small jets, and now Helos (in time) and will be based mostly in North America. Please follow the site's progress at: (Please Copy And Paste URL): {C}http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaa{C} For now vNOAA is operating as a VA, and intends to structure training around eventual Vatsim VSOA status. Flight possibilities are on the public website and forum. Along with vNOAA we have introduced the Virtual US Coast Guard District 7 as vUSCG7 (As Of Aug 2011 Currently Remaining Inactive), as a support group for vNOAA; both will work side by side in some missions only, and there will be some secondary vUSCG7 missions only for those interested. We need some staff to startup vUSCG7, and we are not affiliated in any way with any vUSCG vsoa's on Vatsim. The vNOAA website, forums, and training packages are a work in progress, and are looking for some great staff to support the vNOAA/vUSCG7 joint operations on Vatsim. Those applying to vUSCG7 must have previous VSOA experience. Training programs are in progress for new pilots joining vNOAA/vUSCG7. Aircraft and missions are in work; look for more continuous updates on the VNOAA public website and forum. Please note that vUSCG7 incorporation is NOT ACTIVE at this time, and may never be active; it is only an option for us further down the line. There are also VUSAF options as well with the Hurricane Hunters. This takes some coordination, and again, is part of our future outlook. We will eventually become a joint VSOA when the requirements are met which will take at least 3 months of VA exposure time on Vatsim. Our group meeting times are basically any evening at 8PM EST (0000z) +/- 15 minutes or thereabouts. We NOW HAVE A Teamspeak 3 Server for comms (!), and 5-10 hours of area familiarization and basic training flights are now available. Pilots MUST join VNOAA to use TS3 and find the TS3 info on the membership forum. The formal group meetings are Monday and/or Friday nights as people are available. We still need more active pilot interest, as well as possible aircraft painters and mission designers (for both FS9 and FSX). We will primarily use FSINN and FSX. I have hopes for Virtual NOAA and am excited about the many possible missions! Anyone may email me directly; my email is on the bottom of the main page VNOAA website. Both the public and private VNOAA website portions are slowly being updated, the link of which can only be accessed through our forums. Prospective members may join as a Cadet by simply joining the VNOAA forum off the public VNOAA website, tell us a little about your flightsimming experience on the forum, and do the necessary training to become a VNOAA member; we use a military rank structure. We have aircraft and scenery; I am currently working on the training missions for both VA and VSOA qualifications. Each pilot is REQUIRED to fly 4 hours on Vatsim per month minimum for 3 consecutive months along with completing training to earn the coveted Naval Aviator Wings! VNOAA uses virtual military training, but employs a VA attachment to draw from for its members. The VA attachment has it's own training requirements but members must still fly 4 hours min/month to remain active. Good Luck!! VADM Gray - VNOAA Commander
  15. Howdi Flightsimmers...More work has been done over the past month on the site and VA/VSOA.Aircraft are being finalized for testing on and offline; painters are needed; staff is needed; pilots with varied flight simming experiences are needed etc to fulfill the missions in store for you all.We are a virtual weather, marine wildlife, and SAR combined group with Virtual NOAA and Virtual US Coast Guard District 7 only. The VUSCG7 will have it's own staff and can run completely independant of VNOAA, however combined SAR, weather, and interdiction OPS are in the works (Well north of Cuba that is !), and VUSCG7 is the secondary unit here, VNOAA being the primary unit; I command both units as the joint liason person. Also, VUSCG7 is not part of the other VUSCG on Vatsim, which is also where we will fly.Again the site is at:http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaa/Missions and training have also been in work; all is going well and we will be flying starting this week. There are basic VA and more advanced Vatsim/VSOA training phases; some of which will be discussed on the forums there.Good Luck Pilots !VADM "Hawkeyez" VNOAA-Vatsim
  16. Howdi Brian,I saw your post on Vatsim awhile back about warbirds - guess that VA never got started.Well I have started a VA/VSOA you are welcome in. We will have TS2/3 soon and small growth is expected. It is a weather, mapping, emergency preparedness, and marine wildlife VSOA inclduing Virtual NOAA and Virtual US Coast Guard District 7 only. The 2 units will compliment each other during emergency and weather operations, but VUSCG7 is the secondary unit.I am advertising elsewhere here on the forum and am updating it tonight!http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaaGood Luck
  17. This is an update of the Virtual NOAA progress:The New Link Is At:http://www.freewebs.com/vnoaa/Pilots are now being recruited; the aircraft are being worked on and missions should be ready very soon. The website and SOP's will take longer to finish.VADM "Hawkeyez" Gray
  18. Hello Flightsimmers!Virtual NOAA will model the real NOAA on Vatsim. Most of all content is ready to be placed; training and SOPs are in progress as well as the testing of new aircraft this week.Get on board early - This is a new startup and membership may be limited to about 25 people more or less depending on activity, interest, and other things !You can join temporarily at:http://www.freewebs.com/virtualaviator/You will see the signup on the vNOAA forums listed on the site.Good Luck !Vice-Admiral "Hawkeyez" Gray
  19. Howdi - Well I wasnt a race member here this year - I bugged out and went over to Flightsim for a change of pace. Funny thing I was a member of the last 2 winning teams !I just wanted to wish you all good luck in the race though and am commending everyone who took part - you all flew awesomely. RTW are the best pilots in the air (!); we have backbone !This is my own personal note to honor the pilots here...I kinda missed you guys. I may come back next year I dont know, or since Flightsim won I may jump to all the teams to fly to meet them all who knows !! I am gonna be looking for multiplayer group flights here !Blake
  20. Greetings Fellow flight simmers...The 162nd VANG or "Virtual Air National Guard" is ...unfortunately...disbanding...due to lack of interest.I will be flying with other virtual military groups and looking for Free Falcon since Open Falcon is no longer supported. The link is still available if anyone needs help with flight sim issues.I am current with FS9/FSX, Windows XP/Vista/7, FSINN local and remote operations, and navigation software, both local and remote ops.FS9 (FS2004) is a GREAT place to start your flight simming adventures, and FSX is really kool too!! They are the best flight sims out there when it comes to 'GOOD' realistic flight realism, ATC controllers on VATSIM, basic navigation, weather flight techniques and more.I will post BFM on the site for simmers to checkout, including some of my past virtual military videos! The site is located at:http://www.freewebs.com/virtualaviator/I wish all flight simmers the best for a good year 2009. Keep The Shiny Side Up And The Greasy Side Down !
  21. The proposed Special Ops VAlocated at:http://www.freewebs.com/virtualaviator/ is diabanding...see second post for details. All info in the news items on the site. If you dont see any refresh the pages !Good Luck !
  22. Hello Flight-Simmers:I would like to re-iterate that this group is not a virtual marines outfit; I did that because I thought we would be training off a carrier as well, however we still may be able to do that, and our squads wont be virtual marines; they will most like be "ARMY" and "Airborne" as the 101st so implies.I would also like to re-iterate that no one has to join here first in order to join a more specialized VSOA afterwards; that choice is up to you and however extensive your computer literacy knowledge is.Most VSOA's require good organizational skills; well mine arent the best either, but I am good at computer connectivity and installation issues; topics that VSOA's dont really want to take the time to help people with.I dont mind doing that here, as well as take the time to iron out issues with peer to peer connections which allow effects to be seen by each others' bombing runs and aia-to-air sorties; it takes an immense amount of time to get all the comms, effects, and models working to have an enhanced flight-simming environment above and beyond what virtual civilian simmers do.VMTC is a group that allows a much slower progression than others, even though we can maintain as high of standards as all the other VSOA's on Vatsim, which is our primary flight-simming environment. We have a possible contract with another VSOA to provide training, so we are in need of a few good IP's, folks that have 50+ hours or m
  23. Greetings Fellow Avsimmers (!):It's great to be back here and thanks to all the hard work that has been done to get the site back up!!Just an update status on the Virtual 101st activities. The website is still functional although I havnt been very functional lately - doing alot of things with the various flight sims and workin on new property for my future wherever that takes me; at least it will be 100 times more peace and quiet for me and I am starting to desperately need it, but this summer is gonna be hectic for me and I sort of dred it.Perspective members can sign up directly at:http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/virtual101st/Now I will hint at one important thing - the actual group activities will not be associated with the current air wing name (!) (flight-sim-wise that is). We will, and I reiterate, be modelling a 'real-world' organization to fly the F-16 in flight sim training missions with both FS9 AND FSX !There will be 1 or 2 slots for mission planners, and the same for scenery designers and painters.Inititially, there will be 'NO' flight time requirements; and if and when the group goes 'VA PArtner' with Vatsim, only those members who wish to fly the required hours need do so. This is to be a 'FUN' group with absolutely no restraints other than what we make of ourselves whenever that time comes, and we will deal with it then.Actual flight training and flight times are not currently scheduled and wont be for a few months unless I get more active, and right now I am in training with a couple of other v-orgs; when that settles down I can focus here.I am actively advertising the group now, and as mentioned before, we are sort of a virtual marines group as we fly and do ground missions in other sims like Armed Assault (-2 when it comes out; CoD 4 which I dont have)...If the moderator would change the name of my thread to:Virtual Military Training CorpsThat would be great !My official email is at [email protected] Stingray
  24. UPDATE !The site, located at:http://www.freewebs.com/virtualaviator/Will have a few updates this month I hope. Membership is still open and will be for awhile. There are no active plans in the works except for plans already in place - IE we have the 'hub' located (!); it will be a joint air and ground forces training corps with possibilities for air-side aggressor/adversary squads to fly online on Vatsim.Basically, VMTC is a 'from the ground up' flight simulation with some tactical warfare involved, as well as in-flight ATC training and use of special use airspaces.I havnt fully decided on using CoD(uty) as the primary ground forces arena; maybe Armed Assault is looking better; the demo is pretty decent actually.LOMAC/FC and Falcon 4/AF (possibly the 2 free ones as well) will be the primary advanced game arenas for air, with MSoft Flight Sim being the primary training platform. PLEASE note that it is okay to start training in one of the advanced platforms as well as training along side in the MSoft sim, which will be used primarily on Vatsim. To clarify (!), the VMTC (the name may change later), will be modelling, somewhat, a real-world entity for Vatsim Special Ops consideration at some later point if we so desire (we get more perks by doing so), and as such we hope to have 12 active members flying 4 hours minimum per month to meet the Special Ops qualifications (in case it's changed but it should be close). The real-world entity we are modelling will not be disclosed until we have the active members. Unfortunately I still need to work on some website issues, training pages, etc, and it is likely gonna be a month or more until it is ready. You can email me personally at [email protected] to sign up, and if you dont hear from me there try [email protected], I havnt fully advertised yet but will be doing so asap !AKA Stingray CEO-VMTC
  25. The basis for my Virtual Org has changed slightly, and membership invitations are now open.I have yet to specify basic entry requirements with the group on the site so here goes...Must have at least 50 hours in Microsoft Flight sim including hours on Vatsim, and must take the PRC basic flight course thru Vatsim to qualify (I cant even remember if it is still there; if it isnt dont worry, just sign up; you will get a test soon enough!Prefer you to have, or obtain, Falcon 4 Allied Force, LOMAC/FC, America's Army, Armed Assault (DEMO, current version, and ArmA2 when it comes out in June), GuildWars, and a few others as listed on the site to be determined. The current entry site is at:The Virtual 101stand the main site is still being developed with some member pages already started.Good Luck !
