  1. Yep, they're indeed working through the issues. I received a response to my ticket and he confirmed there was an issue with processing the order, but all is well now and I'm downloading as we speak (and flying the A2A 172 over to Key West in the meantime B) ) This gives me confidence that everyone with issues will have resolution soon, so stay positive!
  2. Oh well... looks like the folks panicking about not having a download link are in a different boat than I am... they've got confirmed orders whereas mine is just pending. But my account is 90 bucks lighter so I'm definitely in some sort of weird limbo status where my order will have to be processed manually. Logged a ticket... moving on with life... hopefully I'll be with you lucky folks flying this bird by the weekend!
  3. Get in line buddy... I submitted mine first! Actually if things keep going the way they are tonight the first ones to submit a ticket will be the last ones to get their tickets resolved... so you're probably good
  4. Try worse. How about seeing this at the bottom of your receipt, along with no download link (or email): Payment Status: Paid This order is pending. I have a sinking feeling that I'm in "manual order processing" mode... one of the first ones in, one of the last ones to actually get a download... yay! The best part: I actually had it essentially purchased before their servers got hammered except AmEx decided THIS was going to be the first transaction in almost 10 years that it flagged as "potentially fraudulent"... so my card got declined and the order didn't go through. When I eventually got back in to the site to order it again, I used PayPal, and I have a feeling that's why I'm in limbo right now.
  5. I actually payed via PayPal and have the receipt from PayPal in my inbox, and the order status on PMDG's site says Payment Status: Paid, but then below that it says that the order is pending. Fantastic.
  6. Not to put words in Jeroen's mouth but I think by "feel" he was referring to the way the airplane physically handles in the air during normal operation. In that respect I agree, to me it doesn't feel significantly different than most FSX light aircraft. That "rock steady," "flies like it's on rails" feel is still there, to an extent. I agree with you though on the "soul" part. The way the engine stumbles to life (and death ), the squeaks of plastic as the engine vibrates... it's the closest I've come to the real life visual and audible "feel" of flying one of these aircraft on a desktop sim. But the FDE has a ways to go. On a related note I think the 172 in the Aerofly FS "sim" actually "feels" closer to a real 172 than anything I've flown in MSFS so far. I don't know if it flies book numbers, and the sim is extremely basic (you can't even tune a VOR), but the control harmony feels dead on.
  7. Yeah, this made me grimace. I actually looked down at my yoke on my first left crosswind turn and I actually had a bit of right aileron in. Yikes. I guess this is just one aspect of FSX flight modeling that is hard to get right.
  8. This. I haven't been able to afford to fly in a few years so I'm looking forward to this big time. When the engine started in their part 2 video I got goosebumps
  9. Speaking specifically about the NGX, I usually start with flaps 1 somewhere between 10 and 13 NM if I'm flying an ILS with a level-off segment. Constant descent approaches (usually RNAV) I'll start things sooner since it's sometimes hard to go down and slow down (so maybe 15-16 NM out). Since the SOP at many carriers is to be fully stable at 1000' (or 500' on a visual) I aim to be configured at 1500' to give myself a bit of padding. Since most ILS approaches intercept the G/S somewhere around 2000' you can imagine I usually get gear down / flaps 15 right at G/S capture, then flaps 30 shortly thereafter. This usually works pretty well for me, I don't feel like I'm dragging it down the approach with a high power setting for too long nor am I scrambling at the last minute to get configured.
