  1. One thing to add after several days of frustration. Make sure your setting this up in the default FSlabs A320. After I did that the above setting worked like a champ, Thanks for posting them saved more hours of headaches
  2. I purchased the product when it was released. I also own the other 2 caravans form Carenado. I do use Bernt Stolle FDE on my orginal steam guage c208. Its true it would have been nice to get a discount on the C208EX but it is what it s I guess. As far as the the C208EX goes I am very happy with the product. I love the G1000 cockpit. The modeliing to me is good both interior and exterior wise. I use the free POH from Cesnna as documentation, but the Crenado checklist and charts work just fine. As far as flight dynamics go I cant really comment because I have never flown this acft in real life so nothing to compare too. I do think she handles well and I have no complaints about the product. I do a lot of Air Hauler flights through out AK and this acft does it beutifully. One thing I do really love is the G1000 terrain feature, where surrounding terrain turns red when you get below it. This is nice on approach and departures. As for me I'm glad Carenado made the C208EX and I'm very happy with the product.
  3. I would like to see the C208 with a Glass cockpit and more of the ACFT systems actually functional ie electrical system and anti Ice systems. Dont mind buying ACFT again with this upgrade.
  4. Thank You for the help with this, I would not have figured that extraction process out.
  5. "If you are using GCCB.CAB, which is inside FSX GAUGES folder, you must decab this file into a GCCB folder (you've probably done this if you installed the modified DRAG gauge)"OK how do you decab this ? I have never moified DRAG gauges. I can open the cab file by double click and it looks like a folder but I cant insert any files. Also you wrote to "Make a copy of DSD_XML_SOUND3.GAU and rename it as C208B_sound.gau" I assume we put the renamed copy into the gauge folder too correct ?
  6. Will the FDE be available through Carenado ? How can I get a copy of the corrected air file ?Thanks
  7. Couple other spots for manuals for the C208 you can just go the the cessna web sight download free C208 and C206 thet just have glass cockpits but the rest of acft the same. Also try AVSIM.RUS they have some manuals in their download sections. :(
  8. Thank you so much for the information. I'm trying to fly this bird as realistic as possible. I use the c208 a lot on my air hauler flights.
  9. Thanks for response. I have a CH Product yoke and pedals first generation that I'm using to fly the C208. I think there is a way to tweak the levers with the sim but not sure how to adjust. The controllers are basic calibrated that's it. I would like to be able to move throttles into beta on my yoke and on the acft. They kind of are at beta, but indicate flight idle on the plane visually at the gate. If that's just the way it is on this model I can live with that no problem. Also out of curiosity when the prop is feathered does the fuel shut off too. I know on some acft feathering also shuts off the fuel mechanically and electrically at the same time. That is what I was wondering about. It sounds from your response that the feathering moves the blade angle only and the the fuel is shut off from another process.
  10. Make sure all your switches on your c208 electrical panel are set up fro start. Then when you hit the starter at about 12% give her some fuel the fuel lever low idle. I just use the 3d cockpit never have any problems with the start.
  11. Does anyone know if the real caravan shuts down when the prop is placed in the feather position on the ground. Or do you have to use a combination of feather and fuel shut off with the fuel lever. I was looking at the engine shutdown procedure and they say to shutdown engine using the feather position to stop the engine from rotating excessively during shutdown. I was not sure if its really a two step process. First increase blade angle to high using prop lever (Feather) then use the fuel shut off to kill the engine. Then when the engine stops the blade angle being high keeps the prop from excessive rotation during shut down. I have to use the Ctrl F2 key to drive prop to feather even grabbing it in the virtual cockpit does not allow it to get past the stop on the quadrant. I also see no blade movement when moving the prop lever but this could just be the sim limitation for the c208. On another note speaking of blade angles is there a way to align the joy stick throttle so they go into the beta range correctly. Right now it seems the mechanical stop on the quadrant at flight idle is actually the ground beta range but visually the throttle is at flight idle but the power shift (big drop in airspeed in flight) shows the engine and prop are actually in the ground beta range. Is there a way to align this better and have the throttle (visually) actually go over the stop into the beta. Is there a way of tweaking the acft cfg file or will I just screw up all the acft engine performance and best just leave it alone and accept it the way it is. Either way is fine. Just wanted to see if some of these tech savvy guys/gals have figured out some adjustments to make this a bit more realistic. i do have to say though that the Carenado C208 is a great product and I have really enjoyed flying it with its quirks too.
  12. How about the C-23 Sherpa nice versatile acft . Can be used for pax or cargo. This takes Carenado a little from general aviation acft, but it would be a nice acft for short haul.
  13. avionics switch fixed with optional patch
  14. Does any one know how enable the carb heat in the acft cfg file. I know the acft does not have carb heat but I do have carb icing issues at altitude. I just would like to hit the fsx default carb heat button when needed to restore power which I believe Carenado disabled with a patch ( I do have the fuel mixture properly leaned). Also is there a way to get the avionics master switch to actually work. I have no control over the avionics power the radios are always on you cannot turn them off with the on/off button or avionics master power switch.
