  1. Couldn't resist so I purchased it last night. Definitely not disappointed.
  2. Looks great Bernd, wasn't planning on getting this one just yet. Those screens make it hard to resist.
  3. Thanks Tim. Hey, where in the heck is Sky Force 3D? I can't stand the wait!!! Haha, just kidding, looking forward to it when it comes out.
  4. Well maybe a little bit of fun...and amazement of the talented developers for our community. Thank you all! P3D v3.3.5 / ORBX OLC NA/ AS16+ASCA / REX / VRS / Team SDB / PTA
  5. Ryan, I used Spotlights from Flight Sim Labs...here's the link: http://www.flightsimlabs.com/index.php/spotlights-2/
  6. Here's the top down view of Utah MSE 2.0 and Orbx LC NA (Colorado) I mentioned, I circled a few areas where I thought the sceneries mesh very well at their borders: Heading out of Montrose CO for Telluride.....How in the world did that Hawk get all the way to Colorado??? Orbx LC NA with Orbx Telluride Utah MSE on the left, Orbx LC NA (Colorado border) on the right.
  7. Here's a few more from Colorado....
  8. I'll be glad to take the hit! Over the years I've become very proficient at securing finance department approval to spend $$$ on this crazy hobby. The only other option is to buy a real plane! Not gonna happen...haha. Spend first, answer questions later...that's what I do. And hide the credit card too...ha!
  9. Thanks all, I should mention...Manfred's C-47 is an amazing freeware add-on!
  10. David, I'll share my initial thoughts....I spent about two hours last night flying around Nebraska, South Dakota and Colorado. First impressions are that it's pretty accurate. I'm at work right now so I can post any comparison shots but when I was flying around western Colorado, I did a pan down view to compare the LC of Colorado with Utah MSE 2.0 and I was really surprised at how close it blended with the MSE scenery in Utah. I'll have to get a screenshot later to illustrate my point. Flying around the area where I live is very accurate. I wanted to compare NA LC with satellite maps so I used the Foreflight satellite moving map app on my iPad as I was flying around. I must say that I am impressed by how closely the land class matches satellite imagery. There are redundant tiles every now and then, however I felt very immersed overall. For my first test flight, I went from Omaha, Nebraska north to Sioux City, Iowa then west to Rapid City, South Dakota. Once again, I was happy to see the LC change on my screen just as it did on the moving map. The only slightly disappointing area I found on my way to Rapid City was the Badlands in South Dakota, it wasn't very close to the real scene at all. The only minor issue for me is the textures of the farmlands during this time of season. Most fields are still green right now (at least I assume so since I drive through a bunch of them every day), but the scenery is depicting more brownish/tan faded textures that you find near the end of summer/early fall. I can't really say it's an issue, just an observation. I'll have to back up the date to see what spring/early summer looks like. I did find one anomaly in the mountains of Colorado, it was a small strip of land that looked like a town that was sitting on the side of a mountain somewhere northwest of Aspen. I also posted some quick shots of the Orbx street lighting around Omaha and Offutt AFB in the screenshot forum. Hope that helps! Brian
  11. Not using vector yet even though it is recommended, can't decide whether to install it or not. The street lighting you see is from OpenLC.
  12. Here's a few initial shots around Omaha NE/Offutt AFB with some of the new night lighting. Also using ASN16/ASCA, Spotlight for cockpit lighting, and Manfred Jahn's C-47 beta.
  13. You bet. I hope you see improved performance with this version. Good luck!
  14. Pete, I purchased MCI a few weeks ago and use it P3D. I think its fairly good quality, the photoreal textures surrounding the airport doesn't quite match up with ORBX global textures. Overall the airport has good building modeling and texturing, but don't expect it to be FSDT/Flightbeam quality. More importantly I haven't experienced any performance issues with it at all. It does its job in filling a void in the area that I fly. Here's a link to a few shots of the airport I posted in the screenshot forum a few weeks ago: http://www.avsim.com/topic/484338-f-16-p3dv3-4k/ Hope that helps. Brian
  15. Be careful if you are thinking a large 4K display will fix your AA issues. I upgraded to a 50in 4K tv a few weeks ago. I assumed that the higher 4K resolution would somewhat cure the jagged edges from planes/runway taxiway markings, light poles, etc. At least much more than the 37in LCDTV which I ran in DSR 2x. Turns out I was wrong. due to the increase in size of the display, jagged edges are even more pronounced thus requiring SGSAA in order to smooth things out again. I sit about 3-3 1/2 feet away from the tv (which to me is similar to sitting in front of the panel of a real plane) and is also the reason why I see all of the shimmering lines. Per Rob A's advice, I tried MSAA (both 4x and 8x) without SGSAA and jagged edges were too noticeable for my liking, performance was great however. I am now trying 8x MSAA + 2x SGSAA (NI) which to me is not much different than 4x MSAA + 4x SGSAA (no go if you're like me and like dense clouds). it's all personal preference. I get annoyed when I see shimmering and focus on it rather than the simulation which degrades my experience to a slight degree. In the end I have to look at the big picture and be thankful for the P3D platform and the hardware that I have to make it perform.
  16. Pablo, I ran into this same problem last night. After updating content and scenery, I loaded REX4 clouds. Low level clouds were visible with HDR off, when I turned HDR on the clouds completely disappeared. I then deleted shaders, created new .cfg, reinstalled REX clouds again, and same thing, however this time there were no clouds with HDR off or on. Looks like I'll take your suggestion to re-install default clouds. Thanks for posting your findings.
  17. Hi Paul...I've donned a flak jacket knowing that I may receive incoming for posting this....haha... I installed the client update without issue last night and spent approx. 1 hr testing out a few things, I'll share with you what I've observed on my system so far...my specs (6700k @ 4.7Ghz, 980ti, 4K TV, Win 10): 1. Flying through dense clouds/volumetric fog will still make your GPU want to run away and hide (I tested MSAA 4x and SGSAA 4x @4K with 980ti) stutters like crazy and FPS ~21-25. With fog off frames improve slightly, still stuttering ~25-28 FPS with the same settings flying through dense clouds. Flying above or below dense clouds, no stutters, FPS is stable at 30. From what I understand AA and clouds just don't mix with P3D, never had this issue with FSX. 2. Dynamic reflections have been fixed. 3. Ultra water still causes GPU to enter P2 state. 4. Shadow AA seems slightly improved, still notice stair stepping/jagged edges on internal and external aircraft shadows. I still have yet to test heavy hitting airports/planes/cloud shadows. I usually start off with default and if I run into performance troubles there then I can only assume it's not going to improve with third party add-ons. It's always a balance of settings and it remains that way with this update. I'm content that LM keeps improving P3D. For me, clouds/shadows seem to be the remaining issue holding performance down. If/when that gets fixed, it will be hard to pry me away from P3D...ha. So, overall, I haven't noticed any significant FPS performance gains from the previous version, only fixes, the sim looks good and is stable. I know a few others are reporting amazing results, I can only speak for my limited observations. Hope this is of some help to you.
  18. I've been on a kick of re-installing all of my military aircraft in P3D...thought I would share some screens from the latest effort this weekend, the Captain Sim B-52. Thanks for looking.
  19. That would be sweet. I hope they consider it.
  20. That's a bummer. I still have to turn off the terrain map, if I don't, it induces stutters. Other than that FPS was stable at 30 during this flight.
  21. Decided to resurrect the Aerosoft F-16 to see what it could do in P3D, still looks good and performs well. Not sure if the 4K translates over in screens, looks pretty sharp to me however.
  22. What else better to do on a snow day than try and fly in it? Just a slight crosswind....
  23. Marc, I've never had any frame rate issues with the GTN750 and it's no different with it installed in the Lancair. For reference, I have a 6700K @ 4.8GHz and Zotac 980ti Amp Extreme (Oc'd to 1480Mhz core clock/3880Mhz Mem Clock). I've been flying around the LA area with the Orbx Global/Vector, FSDT KLAX, P3D settings high (I can post if you'd like), just to see what kind of FPS issue arise and I can say for me that fluid 30 FPS is the norm (I use 30Hz refresh). I haven't seen this type of performance since FS9. Despite the steep price, the GTN 750 is really worth it if your looking for a high fidelity GPS addon.
  24. Thanks Ryan, it's your fault I purchased this one...the screens you posted pushed me over the edge. This plane is outstanding.
