[03MAR15] PMDG's First Product for XPlane...
Vr-pilot, I 101% agree with you. I'm surprised that some developers still continue with FSX/P3D. There's a 737 on the horizon that is certainly going to move a few sheep. its quite apparent among us whom actually fly which sim is more preferable. I am very much looking forward to PMDG entering the XP market. I really feel their products will shine... imagine a world whereby you could actually complete a LH flight in the 777. Franky Slipper

Tired of CTD's and OOM's
I would recommend binning FSX and buying X-plane... no more OOMS or CTDs!

I guarantee the X-plane version will blow the other two out of the water. Watch those flocks by night.

XPlane Development Status Thread [Updated 12SEP14]
I see the 777 has been released for P3D and the endless problems crop up yet again! When we people learn to let go of the ancient relic and switch to the future!

XPlane Development Status Thread [Updated 12SEP14]
Yes for now, but as soon as PMDG release for X-plane you'll see a massive switch. No more CTD's!! The HD freeware scenery is incredible currently so god only knows what these guys can do! Franky Slipcoe

I don't understand why people are still developing for FSX. Franky Slipcoe

Angle of Attack 777 Training
We spend most of our spare time going through the QRH, learning the PROCEDURES, not in-depth systems knowledge (God help anyone on the bus) - thats what the Engineers are there for! Yes, the FSX gods have many brothers/sisters/dad's/dad's-in-law/best-friends-grannies that apparently informed them that they know everything... sadly, it is not the case. I asked my Dad about ETOPS the other day, recently retired 777 capt. I got a blank stare...

Angle of Attack 777 Training
Just want to echo what Kyle has already said: just because they're a pilot, doesn't necessarily mean they know much from a systems point of view. I'm a RW A320 FO and have flown with many Captains who don't even know their own aircraft! Please don't ask me any atpl questions... refer to the question bank!

FSX is absolutely awful

FSX is absolutely awful
Why do people even bother with this platform? It's absolutely, disgustingly bad! If it's not crashing to the desktop its lagging like a gypsy with a mortgage, if it's not doing that its having itself an epileptic stuttering fit! This is 2014 people! Why do we continue to demand so much from such a frankly dilapidated platform. It was never designed for HD textures, high fidelity a/c, or even to run on today's hardware. I see people spending £££ on new systems in the vain hope that these issues will simply disappear! They won't! FSX has to be one of the most corrupt programs i have ever dealt with, not including windows (won't go there). You spend £££ on software and FSX can't even run it without having a panic attack! I'm soo fed up!

747 X
Just wondered what with the NGX and 777 being highly realistic representations of the real aircraft, on what level does the old 747 stand?
-
Add on scenery and the 777
I completely agree. I've been saying that for a long time!
-
747 V2.0
Have you built upon the existing 747, or have you started from scratch? Are we to expect it to be equally, if not more so detailed and spectacular than your 777? I still fly the 747X and absolutely love it!

Time to develop for a new sim me thinks?
Why don't people see the point? This isn't an FSX v X-plane argument; rather more of a question as to when developers will move away from a dated platform and develop for a next gen platform. It could be X-plane, it could be P3D, or it could be MR X, who knows!? It's more of a question of when rather than who.

Time to develop for a new sim me thinks?
Fair play.

Time to develop for a new sim me thinks?
This thread is of value to pmdg as it allows them to gather peoples opinions. Hook, your response is a joke i take it. Are you honestly praising the default FSX!!??

Time to develop for a new sim me thinks?
I Think this thread is done now. In summary: People have invested lots of £ in FSX, they enjoy the diversity of add-on material and are content with it's performance. X-plane has potential for future development, but lacks any real muscle right now. Perhaps a newer generation of simmers, who don't have their £ tied up in FSX, will come along and invest. Who knows... Good debate team.

Time to develop for a new sim me thinks?
X-plane is a far more superior platform on which to build is all i am saying. I am not dismissing FSX as I use it myself. And... Tom, you've got the scenery but currently don't have it installed due to a VAS issue!? This is exactly what i am getting at! This is 2014, not 2005! As soon as IXEG, PMDG, Aerosoft ORBX etc start developing for x-plane, FSX will be only a distant memory. Visualise that world and perhaps you can see where I am coming from.
