  1. Sometimes the simple way works. I went to control panel-program and features clicked on p3d scenery and repair. Voila ! 20 min later the missing airports are there. Go figure. Jerry
  2. Thanks for the reply Bob, in my list of cities I have no District of Columbia and in Maryland no Baltimore. So I can't fly out of KBWI, KDCA or KIAD. Any ideas ? I have no scenery add-ons. Jerry
  3. I did the River Visual approach into KDCA and when I turned final no runways just grass with a windsock. Any ideas. Jerry
  4. I'm using 353.06 with the GTX 650 and it works great with Nvidainspector.
  5. Duh!!! I found it, it was a corrupted Nvidia driver. I erased the old driver and did a clean install on the new one. Problem fixed, I'm not sure computers are ready for the general public.
  6. Thanks for the quick replies guys. I don't think it is ASNext as I turned it off and still got the freezes, I'll check the auto save.
  7. I have a problem that just started. When using a complex aircraft, PMDG, Majestic dash 8 or Aerosoft A320 the game momentarily freezes about once a minute for 3-4 seconds. Using FSX stock aircraft it doesn't happen. I don't get a spike in CPU usage or memory usage when it occurs. Any ideas? Jerry
  8. I have the Saitek yoke, rudders and throttle quadrants. I have elevators, ailerons and speed brake controlled through FSUIPC using "send direct to fsuipc" I suppose the rudders would work too but I just never bothered to try them.
  9. Thanks for the replies guys. At this time I don't feel the need for the tutorials. Through trial & error and extensive reading of the manuals I'm doing ok. The only flying I do is for virtual airlines here in the US and that takes up all my flying time. As for the Airbus, I read on their forums that they have no intention of adding the lbs option to the aircraft. Thought their fuel planner does it in both so that takes care of the conversion.
  10. I have flown the NGX since it came out and have probably 1500 hrs in it. But I have not flown the tutorials because I am not familiar with flying in Europe nor do I have any of the European charts. I have gotten by with some of the YouTube tutorials and Mike Ray's book. What I was wondering, are most of PMDG's customers in Europe and that is why the tutorials are flown there? As an aside I recently bought Aerosoft's A320-321 and to my chagrin their tutorials are also in Europe, but understandable as they are a German company, also you can only use Kgs and not Lbs, you have to do the conversions yourself. Just wondering. Jerry
  11. Congrats Kyle, you will make a great addition. But now catch up on your blog "life as a pilot"
  12. Thanks for the reply Michael, yes it is indicated. This is a problem that just started, I have changed nothing in FSX in a long time. I suspect something in the NGX got corrupted somehow. I guess I will uninstall the NGX and reinstall.
  13. After my NGX working perfectly since I got it, now I have a big problem. On both the 700 and 800 I do as I have always done, program the FMC with SIDS and STARS, and start the flight with VNAV and LNAV after I get to about 2000 ft. The plane climbs very vast (about 5000 fpm) but hits the restrictions ok. Then when climbing to cruise altitude it climbs at 8000-9000 fpm, usually overshoots the cruise altitude and the A/T throttles the engines back to idle. I can turn the A/T off and run the throttles manually and continue the flight but it takes about 60% power to stay at 340 IAS and not overspeed. But though it shows 340 IAS at FL350 the Mach # is only .450 or so, and the groundspeed agrees. I have used the search function but can find no answer. That is for you Kyle . For right now I think my only option is to uninstall the NGX and reinstall. One question I have, if I install the original 800-900 and then the 600-700 do I have to install anything except the SP1c for each of them? Any advice would be welcome. Jerry
  14. I had a weird one last night, climbed out of KABQ on the way to KDEN. Was on RNAV & VNAV fairly heavily loaded in the -800. Had a climb rate of +7000 fpm and when I reached cruising altitude of FL350 it overshot the altitude. Then after leveling off the throttles went to idle, I turned off AT but that didn't help as when I manually throttled up it would go to 95% and then go back to idle. Any ideas, Kyle ? It only happened that one time but is puzzling. I turned off Vatsim so they wouldn't freak out at the climb rate.
  15. Health first Rob, the update will come when it is ready. Good news on the moderators, welcome change
  16. I use the Saitek throttles calibrated in fsuipc and reverse thrust works great. Here are the instructions I used to set them up. "To set up the reverse thrust you will need to select the button+switch tab. Then select aircraft specific tick box, as you want to make this specific to the aircraft you are setting up. It will ask you to select the button you wish to program, to set reverse thrust for engine #1 pull the lever you set before as engine #1 throttle control into the red zone on the throttle quadrant, this selects the button in this zone. It will then show the button number that has been selected. On the right hand side of the window under the control to be sent when selected dialog, select "throttle 1 decrease" from the drop box. Under that you will see a control to be repeated while held tick box, select that box. Then under that in the control sent when button released drop down select "throttle 1 cut". That is it, repeat for engine #2 " I got that from a guy on the New Zealand flightsim forums.
  17. If I am flying on Vatsim I do leave the DISCO in, if not on Vatsim or if no controllers on I just "self vector". I selected the 35L ILS approach and the Larks7 STAR with the ALS transition in that order. Could that be the problem, choosing the approach first ? I was just joking about the CATII approach, KTUS doesn't even have a CAT approach,or ever need one.
  18. Here is the FMS setup for the 35L ILS into KDEN. Also, I live in Tucson and if we have more than 1/4 cloud cover we shoot CATII approaches. Actually even if I'm going to land visually I usually put a ILS approach in for backup.
  19. Kyle, it happens with every ILS approach I try. The most recent example was ILS 35L at KDEN and before that the ILS 25L at KPHX. I have the latest navdata from Navigraph. It didn't just start, but has been that way for the last year.
  20. Whenever I put a ILS approach into the FMC it always shows the last two waypoints on the approach at the same altitude. On the approach plate the altitudes would be(for instance) 9000-7000, but in the FMS it always shows the lower altitude for both. Any ideas?
  21. Nice pics. Oh by the way, did you notice the wreckage of a previous ASA69 flight that had a not quite successful outcome a few hrs earlier. :(
  22. The way I do it with the Saitek yoke is : use the left rocker switch for the trim assigned in FSX, use the right lower rocker for engaging-disengaging the A/P assigned using the PMDG key commands with the registered FSUIPC.
  23. I've had the same thing, went to a different airport and was still there. I rebooted FSX and it went away.
  24. I had a similar problem with the NGX using my Saitek yoke. I found that I had the elevator and aileron axis set in both FSX and FSUIPC. Hope that helps.
