  1. Vogel69, I had a quick look and spotted the mistake. Must of had a late night when I coded that section of code. Somehow I swapped the lat/lon strings when importing it back into the program. I have uploaded a new version. The same download link is valid. Make sure you backup your ini file first, then replace it again once you have extracted and over written your existing files. If you don't you will lose your service settings. I have only done one or two quick tests due to time constraints. Report back if it works or not. Some users on the Italian forums have mentioned an error "You have excluded the whole area!" when using a KML file. This is the correct behavior if you do not create a polygon called area. This polygon is used to select all the tiles that you want to download. Any tiles outside this region are not downloaded. Obviously if you don't create the polygon, the program will not find any tiles to download. This is a better way of using the program as opposed to drawing a block and drawing a bunch of exclude zones. Yahoo is now using the nokia tile server. Have a look at a program called fiddler2. I use this to decode the url's used for the various map services.
  2. With the new version (1.03) when you import a KML file that has a polygon defined called area and it will only download tiles that fall within it. Any tiles outside this area will replaced with a fake tile of uniform color, this speeds up processing along coastlines. I have overlapped bgl files before and not had any issues that I have noticed. I do this as I tend to color correct my scenery and the overlapped bitmaps make this easier in photoshop. There are a couple of other tricks you can do to exclude areas, been a while since I looked at the source code so you'll have to read the notes.
  3. Well it's not working to my liking at the moment. My biggest gripes are: 1) Not able to import flight plans. For the routes I fly I get sent all over the place from one silly way point to the next, flying away from my intended track then after a 100nm I get a waypoint going back to where I should be. This is an ATC program and not a flight planner. 2) Poor AI interaction. In fact I checked the ai craft on the moving map. Planes that had already taken off were shown to be still parked at the gate, if I check with another third party package the ai craft were displayed and updated correctly. This weekend I was number 3 in line for take off. ProAtc did not show the two planes in front and cleared me to line up. I have the same problem with planes just about to touch down, I also get take off clearance when I shouldn't. 3) Out of date NAV data. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. 4) Very late descents. Probably a few more problems which evade me for the moment. Anyway, I paid (too much) for it but am not using it at the moment.
  4. The linked file is magdec.bgl. He is looking for magvar.dat If I'm not mistaken it is installed by one of the Aerosoft packages, e.g AirbusX I saw a post on the Aerosoft forum a while back about this. No need to re-install FSX.
  5. Jim, I can answer the second question. The two routes I did the SID/STAR's did not match up. Cheers
  6. Tried the new patch. Got all the way to finals (at last), but I also noticed the late descent instructions. I was so high (about 5000ft too high) that I was never going to be able to land safely so I opted to quit the flight. I could see quite far out that I was going to be too high but I decided to see what the ATC would do.
  7. Try altering the script or add a new one to change it to ZYX. I think the X and Y are probably swapped. Url will be ....\Z\Y\X But without the full URL I cannot help any further. I found one of their services that worked with the above change, but it was for a vector map. They probably use the same tile encoding on the satellite server as well. Mark
  8. Well you guys are having more luck than I am. I cannot even hit the first waypoint following the vectors I am handed out. The headings are constantly out by 24 degrees. Looking at it's moving map and another third party moving map ( Courseplanner) I can see that the headings of my plane differ between the two, with Pro-ATC consistently wrong. If I let the program control the plane it leads me out into no mans land. Even the list of ai traffic of the two programs differ. Pro-ATC was consistently only showing about half of them (not using any 3rd party AI programs). Even worse was that it was showing the wrong data for them. I was waiting behind two other planes waiting for take off clearance, which I got before the other two had left. In this case Pro-ATC showed them still sitting at the various ramps. I waited then took off and flew around aimlessly chasing the vectors. Looking back at the moving map I saw that the two ai planes that had taken off were still being shown as sitting on the ramp. The other moving map program was displaying them correctly. I have wasted enough time on this. I have better things to do than test software I have paid for. Mark
  9. For those interested, there is a new patch out (1026). Mark
  10. PROblematic-ATC. At least they got the name of their program correct.
  11. Has anyone noticed that the heading displayed in the moving map does not correspond to the heading actually flown. It gets worse in areas with greater magnetic variation. Where I fly the variation is -23 degrees so I can never hit my waypoints, as the headings given by the ATC constantly make me miss them. Not only that ATC constantly tells me I am not flying the correct heading.
  12. This program is definitely just running against a scripted route. It does not adapt itself if you bypass a waypoint. Just tried a short 1 hour hop. I deliberately flew around a waypoint and carried on to the next one on the route. After overflying a couple of points it was still trying to vector me back to the one I missed. Anyway I relented and turned around following the vectors handed out to me. Now it is leading me off into the middle of nowhere. It keeps gives me a heading of 60 for two minutes then tells me to fly heading 240 for another two minutes. These alternating headings have been going on for 20 minutes, taking me further away from any of the routes waypoints. Pity, I actually liked the way it was able to calculate the SID/STARS on the fly. Mark
  13. Bob I had the same issue with it not contacting approach. It appears that the co-pilot does not tune the radio to the approach controller. I tuned it manually, I seem to think it was on one of the PATC popup menus, and the controller started issuing orders again. Obviously by the time I had figured that out my approach was all messed up. I think I read the author said that the co-pilot only tunes the radio after completing certain steps in the relevant check lists. I wasn't using them at the time so this could be the cause of it. Mark
  14. I would need to see the service url, or the calling sites url to see whats possible. Mark
  15. Dave I just redid the area in your last image. My final bitmap is identical to your FSET screenshot. Have a look at the individual jpg's in your cache folder, maybe clear it out and do a small area again. Compare these to what your bmp looks like. As a last resort do a very small area and post the original file here so I can compare on my side. It's hard to see from screen shots. I tend to shy away from Google images, they stick that irritating watermark on eveything now.
  16. Dave, Mine comes out the same as in FSET. Two things. First FSET draws a bounding box of your selected area with a shaded transparent fill, this will lighten any image displayed on the screen. Zoom out a bit and you will see what I mean. Second. In the Fsearthtiles.ini file there are two parameters "Brightness" and "Contrast". Values less than 0 will darken the image, greater than 0 will lighten them. Values of zero will leave the image unchanged. You could play with these to alter the image to your liking. I think the original programmer set these to darken the image quite a bit. Mine are both left at zero.
  17. Dave The final output is a two stage process. Either it is failing when the initial bitmap is created in the working folder, or it is failing when it is converted with the FSX SDK. Clear out your working folder, run it again, have a look at the created bitmap file and verify if it is correct. If it is correct then see if resample.exe is actually running and creating the bgl file. It should show a console window running for a few seconds or more, depending on the size of the image. How do the tiles look when you zoom in with FSET to the same zoom level as you are downloading. Some tile servers use different age imagery at the various zoom levels, so it might look good when zoomed out but revert to the old dark image when zooming in.
  18. The exe needs to be in the same directory as the rest of the programs files and not in the working folder, i.e in the same directory as fsearthtiles.exe
  19. Edit the Fsearthtiles.ini file and enter the correct url for each service. The correct web address for each one is floating around on the net, you just need to search for them. I cannot supply the file with the correct address as you really need permission to use the services. You can get more info about this from the original developers page on fspassengers. Whatever you do, do not replace this file with an older version you may find. The new file has a few new entries. Be careful with the google service, unless you don't mind the google watermark on your landscape when flying around. Cheers
  20. I seem to have ironed out any bugs that I could find. http://dewey.x10.mx/...ad/fset-103.rar I have changed the main ini file quite a bit for the added features. You will have to use the new one from the archive and modify the services section as per usual. The user agent section has to be uncommented to work correctly, especially if you are using google imagery. Read the pdf in the docs folder describing the changes.
  21. You still need to create the two polylines for the coastline and deepwater as per the original versions instructions with either Google Earth or Inkscape. All I am doing is using a pre-existing bitmap image instead of downloading the actual one from the server. Even if it were possible to somehow create a mask with the excluded areas you would end up with an ugly transition from your new texture to the pre-existing ones in FSX.The same goes for any areas you exclude on the land. I think they were called blendon and blendmax, blendon1 blendonmax1 for each area to mask out etc.Cheers,
  22. Give this new version a try.http://dewey.x10.mx/files/Download/FSET- Version%20102.zipYou'll notice that there is now a tabbed control where the area selection details used to be. To create an exclusion zone click on draw in the "Exclude Area" tab as if you are selecting an area to download. You can add as many as you like. To delete a zone you don't need just select it in the list box and click delete. A selected zone should appear in another colour when you click on it in the list.I just need to add code to save the excluded areas to the ini file. See if it works and let me know.Cheers
  23. This link explains the scenery and installation sequence.http://www.avcom.co....hp?f=11&t=74571
  24. You mean something like this. The output file ends up looking like this.Any tiles that are partially covered by the exclusion boxes do not get downloaded. I just need to cleanup the text displayed about each area as well as saving the regions to a text file.Mark
  25. I thought about your idea of excluding tiles.I might implement a quick hack that lets you create fake tiles of an area you select. These then get stored in the cache directory. You then recreate your area you want as normal, any 'fake tiles' will then not be downloaded as they will already have been created on your HDD for you.Need to think some more about it.
