    Offline Military VAs

Hi, Platinum Airways has a military and vintage military section. We are offline by default. Apart of our military division, we apply the Open Skies principle: you fly the mission of choice with the aircraft of choice at the time of choice. We have active forums (noticed that you like active VAs). Only rules: minimum 18 years of age and at least one PIREP per month. Stijn

    Recommendations for a VA

Have a look at Platinum Airways. We believe VAs exist to serve their pilots, and not the other way around. We have translated this into our Open Skies policy: you can fly the mission of choice with the aircraft of choice at the time of choice. We allow acceleration, but don't allow pilots to file excessive hours within a 24 h period. Besides a Destination of the Week, we offer military, vintage military and cargo missions. Three conditions for joining: minimum 18 years of age, first PIREP within 14 days after joining, thereafter at least one PIREP a month (unless you have requested leave).

    MD80 virtual airlines?

Always welcome at Platinum Airways. We apply the Open Skies principle, which means you fly the mission of choice with the aircraft of choice at the time of choice. We have a solid flight offering, but you're free to follow it.

    Looking for GA VAs

Platinum Airways. We apply the Open Skies principle, which means you fly the aircraft of choice on the route of choice at the time of choice. Our hanger does not include the C182 or Piper 250, but you can fly and file PIREPs with your own version and request a repaint if you want.

VA which allows Off Line Flying

Platinum Airways is by default offline, although several of our members fly via VATSIM or IVAO. We are the Open Skies airline, which means you fly the mission of choice with the aircraft of choice at the time of choice. That being said, we have a wide variety of suggestions, including, (vintage) military, cargo, a Destination of the Week, etc. Flight logging goes via a web form.

    VA with save/restore flight system?

Hi Riccardo, Platinum Airways doesn't have an ACARS system, which means that you are free to resume whenever you want. Flights are filed via a web form. In addition, we apply the Open Skies principle: fly the mission of choice with the aircraft of choice at the time of choice. We do have a Platinum livery for the PMDG MD-11 (GE and P&W engines, pax and cargo), but you're of course free to fly your own livery if you want. Our flight suggestions include five hubs (KEWR, KDFW, CYVR, YPPH and EBBR), a Destination of the Week, (vintage) military missions, cargo missions, humanitarian missions, and much much more.

    virtual airlines

Rick, why don't you pay a visit to Platinum Airways? We apply the Open Skies principle: you fly the mission of choice with aircraft of choice at the time of choice. We are offline by default, although we have a good number of online members as well. No entrance exams with us, flights are filed via a web form. We have five non-mandatory hubs (KEWR, KDFW, CYVR, YPPH and EBBR) that you can switch between as you want. We also have many suggested missions out of our hubs, hundreds of military anv intage military flights, a Destination of the Week, many cargo flights, humanitarian flights, etc. We have a large fleet, but you're free to use your own AC if you want to. Three requirements: minimum 18 years old, first flight within 14 days after noining and enjoy your hobby.

  11. Hi guys, I'm having issues with password recognition since last week's system update. Using Chrome on Win10. Each time I try to login, the server doesn't recognise my PW. This means that I have to go the forgot password routine each time I want to visit Avsim. Am I the only one who is experiencing this issue or are there other cases? Thanks, Stijn
  12. The March Destination of the Week series of Platinum Airways is paying tribute to four turbofan manufacturers. The Open Skies virtual airline will be visiting airports close to the main or single assembly lines of General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney and Snecma. Engines are a major component of each aircraft. And few will argue that turbofans revolutionised the industry. That's why Platinum Airways’ Destination of the Week will visit four major aircraft engine manufacturers: the three market leaders and the co-manufacturer of the most popular turbofan in history. By far the largest manufacturer is General Electric. With its main assembly line in Durham, NC, Powerhouse will kick off at Raleigh – Durham Airport (KRDU). The next name that comes to mind when speaking about jet engines is of course Rolls-Royce. Its key assembly plant is located in Derby, UK, which is a good excuse to visit East Midlands Airport (EGNX). The third Powerhouse destination is inspired by Pratt & Whitney. The nearest major airport to its East Hartford, CT, plant is Bradley International (KBDL). We conclude Powerhouse with one of the joint venture partners of the most popular turbofan ever designed and built: the CFM56 series by General Electric and Snecma. The logical airport is Villaroche (LFPM), France, as Snecma is located on the airfield. As per usual, each DOTW comes with official charts for each airfield and links to add-on scenery when available. It concludes with a video selection with real-world approaches, ground traffic and departures. Meanwhile, Platinum Airways has launched a new initiative for its pilots: Around the World (AW). In keeping with our Open Skies philosophy, Platinum pilots get to choose quite a few things: their predominant direction (East to West or West to East), aircraft (though they are to stick to their original selection once departed), airports, etc. They are recommended to visit islands and airports not usually frequented. Upon completion pilots will receive a special award. Pilots who complete AW with a prop and a jet aircraft will be given two awards. About Platinum Airways: Keen to deliver on its mission to keep the fun in the hobby, Platinum Airways is probably the only virtual airline to combine an Open Skies policy, allowing its pilots to fly any mission of their choice with the aircraft of their choice at the time of their choice, with a strategic hub network. The carefully selected hubs, Newark (KEWR), Dallas-Fort Worth (KDFW), Vancouver (CYVR), Perth (YPPH) and Brussels (EBBR), should be attractive to a global membership. In addition, Platinum Airways offers its pilots an often cheeky Destination of the Week, Military and Cargo. Sticking to the KISS principle (Keep It Straight and Simple), Platinum Airways hosts an active forum and a screenshot of the week competition, with the winner providing the main picture on its home page for the next week. 13. If a by default offline (non-Vatsim or non-Ivao, though several of our members fly online) VA is no problem, did you already have a look at Platinum Airways? We have active forums and encourage pilot suggestions and contributions. We are the Open Skies VA: you fly the mission of choice with your aircraft of choice at your time of choice. After all, this is a hobby that should be fun for you. We believe that our VA serves its members and not the other way around. That said, we have a Destination of the Week and hundreds of other flight suggestions, such as current and vintage military missions, cargo missions, sports missions, etc. We have 5 hubs, KEWR, KDFW, CYVR, YPPH and EBBR, each with a flight roster that you may or may not pick flights from. Our main criteria: min 18 years of age, first flight within 14 days after joining, minimum one flight per month thereafter (or request leave), and most importantly: enjoy.
