  1. Well all my previous issues have been resolved, but now I have a new demon with this aircraft. I have read time and again the advice on how to land the NGX, which is a slippery plane indeed. However, I follow all the advice given (gently raise the nose, no sudden flare, cut the thrust at about 50'' depending on conditions etc.) Yet today at Inverness airport she WOULD NOT LAND. Only after floating about 100/150 feet did she touch down gently, which by then was almost too late to stop effectively. I thought it might be my speed, so I tried V-ref minus five, same thing happens. Almost desperate I tried minus ten, still occurred. It's almost as though the NGX hits about five feet and suddenly stops descending towards the runway. Is it and extreme ground effect by any chance? Can somebody please help me? It annoyed me greatly that I couldn't land her and I don't consider myself to be a half bad pilot (even in the non virtual world). What am I doing wrong? Or has PMDG maybe exaggerated the floating characteristics the NGX is famous for? I don't know, but I'd love to find out what I'm doing wrong. Raffaele
  2. Ah I thought so, just wanted it confirmed. Managed to get the 737 into Guernsey of all places, albeit with a very light fuel load. As regards thrust I don't think so, you can select the N1 limits through the FMC, there's an option for "TO-B" mode which increases take off thrust to 27,000 pounds.
  3. Another post, but for someone who is used to steam workings of the J41 the 737 is a big step forward, getting used to it quite quickly though. I have a question regarding the Short Field Package. Namely, how does one use it? This may be an inane and silly question, but I would hugely appreciate some guidance. Also, are there any visual indicators (inside or out) as to whether it is "installed" on the aircraft? Thanks again Raffaele
  4. Wow. Thanks for all your contributions, just for your information I'm now using either Vataware and RouteFinder if one of them fails in finding a route. It has not let me down yet. This has solved a huge headache for me, so thank you everyone.
  5. Hi, I recently got the 737 NGX and it is a superlative piece of design, quite how PMDG managed to make it so FPS friendly whilst at the same time being so complicated is beyond me, amazing work :)However I need some help as regards flight planning, as you can imagine going into the FSX map and manually planning the route is very tedious, so could you recommend several IFR flight planners that work with the NGX FMC? Or even ones that simply give the route/SIDS/STARS that need to be flown, so that I can manually input the data into the computer. Thanks Raffaele
  6. I have had the Jetstream since it was released, and fly it very regularly, which makes my recent double issue a strange problem of which I have been unable to diagnose. Recently I have had two DUAL engine flameouts. No warnings, engine's were normal, plenty of fuel and no smoke or flames that signal a catastrophic failure. One was at 4000ft, and I had been there for a few minutes doing a high power cruise. The second was on takeoff, at about 60kts both engines quit. Both incidents took place in the Scottish Highlands, and I was able to normally restart the engines after the second incident without a problem (fuel pumps on, start master to right, feather the props and the ignition was perfect). I even flew the plane for about ten minutes, putting the engines through every conceivable strain and nothing went wrong. Can anybody think of a reason for this? I am stumped, the only thing I can possibly think of is both times I very rapidly opened the throttles, because I was taking off from a short runway and wanted to get the plane airborne. Thanks Raffaele
  7. Alright, you've been a big help so thanks to the both of you. Very impressed at the prompt replies, to be honest thought I'd be waiting yonks to hear a reply. Raffaele
  8. Hello to AllHave brought the J41 and can think of nothing but praise, did the tutorial flight last night, however I have a couple of questions. Firstly is the TOCWS, even though I managed to plane fully configured for take off I think (honestly) it was by accident. The only things I can think of are 1) Condition Levers to flight mode, 2) Flaps to 9 degrees, 3) Parking Brake off (obviously), 4) Spoilers armed, 5) APR off (depends on circumstances), 6) Take Off/Go Around switch on power levers. The second question I have is about the VS Mode with the autopilot. I can engage it but have no idea how to change the VS value that appears in cyan in the bottom right hand corner of the PFD. On a similar note how does the IAS mode work on the autopilot? Everything else works fine, truly one of the best aircraft for FSX that I have bought.Thank You Raffaele
