  1. Hello, Maxime! So you made FE9G? Your sky textures and these wonderful SweetFX settings are simply superb. I can't get enough of your sunsets. Combined with the - at least for my humble self - still unsurpassed cloud textures from Flight Environment (personally I really admire all those screenshots with REX clouds, but everytime I tried them, they appealed too imitately, almost cartoonish in my eyes) and more quiet water FS9 is newly born. Thanks a lot for sharing your great work with us! Long live FS9! Jens
  2. Hi, John! Do you search buildings as scenery objects or alternative textures for the default autogen buildings? I you' re searching for textures maybe you take a look at this thread at sim-outhouse: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?70289-Replacement-European-Buildings I remember the package, which is described there; it was a bundle of - amongst others - famous freeware koorbygen textures for autogen buildings and freeware Airport Environment Upgrade. Best regards Jens
  3. Graeme, Craig and everybody who cared, my problem is solved. Graeme sent his panel.cfg file to me, but actually it was identically equal to mine. But as requested he kindfully provided his RXPGNS.INI file, too - and that did the trick. I really don't know why it didn't work for me before. I can only suspect that the RXPGNS.INI created after the installation of my RXP GNS430 conflicted with the configurator which Dreamfleet built for the Dakota - and which among others determines what kind of navigation database the GNS is actually using (International or Americas). Without this RXPGNS.INI by Graeme I suffered from CTDs. So, thanks again for your kind help! I appreciate it a lot. Jens This is the RXPGNS.INI that works (maybe it can help others, too): [GNS430] Popup=15431 AutoPilotMode=2 Radios=1 LinkCdiKey=On AutoCdiMode=0 AutoApproach=On LinkVor=1 LcdStyle=Off AutoWidth=500 AutoHeight=210 Trainer= NoKeyClick=Off DisableRxTx=Off AutoPowerOn=Off AutoRadiosOff=On GndSpdFromDeltaLatLon=Off AutoCourse=Off LinkObs=On ShadinFuel=On RadioSyncMode=Full Brightness=-1.000000 CrossFill=Off TCAD=Off Taws=On TawsVolume=60 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_NEG_CLIMB_RATE=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_IMMINENT_OBST_IMPACT_CAUT=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_REDUCED_OBST_CLEARANCE_CAUT=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_IMMINENT_TERR_IMPACT_CAUT=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_REDUCED_TERR_CLEARANCE_CAUT=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_IMMINENT_OBST_IMPACT_WRNG=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_REDUCED_OBST_CLEARANCE_WRNG=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_IMMINENT_TERR_IMPACT_WRNG=0 TAWS_ALRT_TYPE_REDUCED_TERR_CLEARANCE_WRNG=0 CPU=0 HardwareDevice=Off HardwareIdx=0 [sETTINGS] Dimmer=Off SimpleMouse=Off KeyOnFocus=On [GTX327] AutoStandBy=On AutoStandByDelay=24 VFRCode=1200 AltitudeFormat=FL FlightTimerMode=CLEAR AcftType=LESS_15500 FlightTimer=0.000000 CountUpTimer=0.000000 CountDnTimer=0.000000 CountDnTimerRef=0.000000 AutoPowerOn=Alt Brightness=-1.000000 [GMA340] Brightness=-1.000000
  4. Thanks, Graeme! At least I know now that it really can be done. Since a month - whenever I get round to it - I edit the panel.cfg files (1024,1280 and 1680) of the Dakota, removing all references to the old RXP-gauges. I inserted the newest Flightline-T, Flightline-N, GNS 430-gauges from Reality XP - to no avail. As the GNS 430/530 WAAS gauges from RXP seem to be rather critical, I even supposed it could be a licensing problem or a failed installation. Therefore I did a reinstallation of all the RXP stuff and actually the gauges work in other planes of mine. Grame, or anyone else, would you mind to send me your panel.cfg files or post it here? This would be of great help to me. As I understand from blanked out entries in those files DF expressly allows users to share a modified panel.cfg). Thanks in advance! Jens
  5. Craig, thank you very much for your detailed response - especially for your tip regarding the GNS430_nc1 from Carenado. I indeed own every aircraft from Carenado they made for FS9. Perhaps I will try to transfer their GPS into the Dakota's panel. It seems my descriptions while starting this topic were not clear. Sorry for that. I know that the planes from DF came with their own RXP gauges tied to the particular plane. But the Garmin trainer software, which was always needed by the Garmin suits from RXP, was 8-bit-Software. That was why one had to buy all the expensive gauges once more in their current version, which can be used even with Win7/64 bit. So with help from friendly people like you I managed to revive my A36 and the B58 from DF. But substituting every gauge - even in the 2D panels - does not seem to work in case of the Dakota. It's hard to understand for me. I installed the newest version of GNS430 from RXP and it does a good job in a few other aircraft (including Dreamfleet's A36), but the Dakota refuses to work properly. Any further help is very much appreciated. Thanks
  6. Hello everybody! Thanks god (and AVSIM) for this forum! I'm very happy to see so many people still loving good old FS9. And I know people here (and on a very few other great sites) are very knowledgeable about this sim. Personally I enjoy FS9 even more than 10 years ago. Underway my scenery.cfg grew up to more than 1.500 entries. Hundreds of aircrafts were tested. Wonderful freeware and expensive payware came up. Sometimes ( or should I say often?) it was rather fiddly to make it all fit together...You know the highs and lows of our hobby. In the end it mostly was going well. But now I'm rather frustrated. You know, my everytime GA favorites (besides the outstanding works from RealAir and the later Carenado) were the planes from Dreamfleet. Especially the A36 and the B58 - again and again I come back to them. They're marvellous. After porting over to Win7/64bit I spent much time to make them work again (and I gave even more money away as thereto one has to buy nearly all current products from RealityXP, who - with due to respect - should be praised for their stuff, but blamed for their exorbitant prices). Bert Pieke - he's a fine chap - helped me in particular. So recently I decided even to buy the Dreamfleet Dakota, for all that I knew that DF is as still as a grave. I ignored the warning that the Dakota was developed for Windows XP/32bit, I simply trusted in a chance to change the old gauges, the Dakota originally comes with, against the already bought new gauges from RXP. Because with some effort even the A36 and B58 worked fine. Unfortunately this confident mood didn't last very long. My sim was nearly loved to death by this install. For first time I had scenery.cfg file errors (!), when starting an aircraft ( curiously enough only DF B58). I checked the scenery.cfg multiple times. All fine. Even Scenery Config Editor (great tool btw!) stated: "no errors". Every attempt to start the Dakota ended with CTD. After reinstalling the RXP-Gauges, deleting all scenery.dat files and most of all uninstalling the Dakota my sim recovered. Afterwards I installed the Dakota again without installing the old RXP-gauges. FS9 hung up during start. Replacing every gauge didn't solve the problem. But now I also suffered OOMs, which I luckily never had before. The Dakota is stubborn. Only if I delete all the 2d panels and views in the panel.cfg I even can load the Dakota and go flying with her. But then every attempt to enter the menu or change to another aircraft leads to a CTD. By no means stable. I assume that the Aircraft needs the internal config tool provided by DF. I read dozens of threads about the Dakota and other DF products on Win7/64 bit; in the end I'm really confused. With regard to the Dakota it's obviously not enough to substitute the RXP-Gauges and delete every reference made to the old gauges in the panel.cfg. Now my question for you, as I believe many of you like the Dakota and surely have more technical knowledge than me: Is there anybody who can use the Dakota on Win7/64 bit without CTDs? What is your secret? And does anybody fixed the problem that there are nearly no visible vc window reflections? In the A36 and B58 from Dreamfleet the reflections contributed much to immersion, but honestly the Dakota seems unlifelike compared to the other products. Thanks for reading this. Any help is much appreciated. Jens
  7. @Sascha As far as i know, FSHotSFX and FSHotSeat are separate products, whereby FSHotSeat includes all the functions of FSHotSFX and gives you more like a copilot. Please search for fshotseat - they still have a homepage which provides further details even about specs. To bad the program just runs on XP. It surely won't do on a 64bit system. I heard their aisounds once (they call it AiBlast technology) - and for sure it's a blast! Jens
  8. Hi Mel, PM sent. What a great forum! I enjoy it a lot. Nowadays - after more than a decade of tweaking and despair - I love my FS9 more than ever. Nice to see you all share this addiction. Again: Thanks a lot for your kind help! Best wishes! Jens
  9. Hi all! I know, I really come late to this party, but I set my hope on you. Please be lenient with me! I urgently need a patch file to make Holger Samdmann's scenery "Columbia River Gorge compatible" with UT USA (FS9). The file from Holger is called "utusacrg.zip". I tried my best to find it in the web, but all the links I found are no longer valid. Do you still have it in your personal archives and give it to me? Thanks in advance! Your help is very much aprecciated! Jens
  10. Dear Aimé! This is the right time to say THANK YOU for your generous efforts. You already made the best grass textures (= your outstanding "PICNIC"), at least in my book it`s a must have for simmers. And now your TEP looks fine, too. Very well done! (It'd be very nice, indeed, if you could refurbish the water textures in FS9 someday, like ja99 suggested. We surely all would be grateful...) @Ron: Water in FS2004 always has been a downer. I guess you know the numerous attempts of fellow-simmers here in the library to enhance the water textures. With regard to your problem, I suggest you play a bit with the "env_".series. They can give the textures a whole new look (more blue or more green and so on). I can recommend ed Truthan's "OceanFX2" to everyone. The documentation of Mr. Truthan gave me a lot insight in flightsim's water. Payware which offers useful water textures and/or effects is legendary "Flight Environment" and even Sandon Lyon's "Real H2O". I hope these programs can meet your needs. Kind regards Jens
  11. Hi, Phil! thanks a lot for your reply! I nearly resigned, thinking that no fellow in misery will ever respond. But in fact there are quite a few people who reported those problems with the "shifted" windshields in Carenados Archer II and with the "invisible" prop and tail in Carenados C152. From time to time there are threads in the usual online forums regarding with these problems - until now to no avail. BUT NOW we have the chance to narrow these problems down. Firstly: Regarding the "gap" in the windshield I still have no clue. I can refer to my thread (with screenshots) in the flightsim.forums: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?239636-Gap-in-Carenado-Archer-II-Windshield&highlight=gap+carenado Secondly: In respect of the C152 I worked out, that the clue lies in the the "Alabeo152prop".bmp (or something like that - I can't tell the exact name of the file, as I'm not in front of my sim PC at the moment). This texture file includes an alpha channel (responsible for reflections I understood). If you view the Bitmap with the most useful freeware porgramm "DXTBMP" from MWGraphics you can see the alpha in the upper right corner of the program window. The area which correlates with the windshield reflections on the bitmap file will show as dark grey against the black background. If you paint this area black (as the background of the alpha is), then import this modified alpha channel to the bitmap and save it altogether as the new "Alabeo152prop".bmp (backup the old file first!!!) , and fly from within the VC you will see the prop and even the Tail of the plane - but from inside you won't see any reflections on the windows any more. :-( Until now I didn't find a way to "tune" the window reflections so that one can see them as well as tail and prop of the C152. Remarkably other parts of the plane (like the antenna on the rear fuselage) are visible. It's strange. We share the same problem and I presume that all of your other addons (especially from Carenado) work fine, too - so there MUST be a coherence. Probably some addon or other software we both have installed is the culprit. I run FS9.1 on a PC with specifications as follows: Win7/64bit, i5-2500k, MB: Asus P8P67, 2 x Samsung F1 1 TB, 8GB RAM1600, Palit GTX 570 with the newest Nvidia driver and nvidiainspector. 22'' Panel from LG with 1680 x 1050 resolution. I use the F1view module. Saitek pedals, yoke. My FS2004 is a - legal and official! - german version from a single DVD without the need of inserting the CD4 in the drive. (But I also own a 4CD set - tried it even there, of course - unfortunately to no avail). I tried the Carenado C152 and Archer II even on totally clean installations of both versions of FS2004 (DVD and 4CD), even on a PC with fresh WindowsXP, 32bit. Same problems there. Consequently I don't believe that Win7 64bit is the cause of our trouble. What do you think? Can anybody else help us? All the FS9-Experts out there, please help! Thanks in advance! Jens
  12. Thanks, ronzie, for your kind response! I knew about the patches from scenerysolutions. Some patches helped me a lot concernig european seneries which brought potential conflicts with UTE. Also I already patched UTUSA to 1.30. Seems that I have to find a way to exclude or reposition the objects, which are interferingly misplaced. Does anybody else has some interesting solutions for this problems? Thanks in advance. Jens
  13. Hello all, I know I come late to this party, but I just dare to ask you, the true FS2004 fanatics, about your experiences and solutions concerning misplaced objects in Ultimate Terrain USA. As I'm a true believer in FS2004 since the beginning I already had quite some knowledge about Ultimate Terrain Europe/ Canada/Alaska and badly misplaced objects (notably buildings and bridges), which were a consequence of the lacking accuracy in the default world of FS2004 and some payware/freeware sceneries. I also knew about the fabulous Quantumleep Repositioning Project for Ultimate Terrain (QLRP4UT) and some methods how to exclude objects (but I never found a very covenient way to exclude disturbing objects by the way...). But yesterday I focused my attention on the US for first time and installed UTUSA. Shortly after takeoff in KSEA I noticed all the ships grounded on land, by contrast the dock cranes in the water. QLRP4UT helped me much to reposition the city bulidings, but there are still huge factories misplaced on railways, ferries lying deep in the woods, cranes in the water. And I asked myself why people didn't run out of the steam when watching all those misplaced objects. How was it possible that UT USA became a "must have" payware? Please, don't get me wrong: UT is a wonderful programm with undoubtable merits - but it seems, every simmer flying in the US had to turn a blind eye to the ships on land, for example. In view of Europe, Microsoft didn't spend much efforts in beautifying the landscape with extra objects. Therefore the European simmer had more diffculties with some bridges (or double shorelines when using other payware/freeware), but you US guys obviously have a bunch of misplaced cranes, ships, piers in presumably uncountable places. I was bummed out. So, how did you do it? In the mostly wonderful screenshots here I never saw misplaced objects. I can't believe you made do with Seattle for example like I see it now on my PC. Any comment or help is appreciated. Best regards from Germany Jens
  14. Hello David! Sorry, I didn't see your topic before, because I hadn't time for simming in the recent months. I have the same problem which was described by you. In my case even the tail of the C152 isn't visible when I pan around in vc. I use the well-known freeware F1- view module for going beyond the limitations of sight in FS2004. Whenever I scroll forwards or backwards and leave cockpit (in other words: whenever I move go behind the cockpit windows) the prop and the tail of the plane are clearly visible. They are there! Remarkable notice: the antenna on the tail of the C152 can even be seen out of vc. It "hangs" in the air, the rest of tzhe plane is not visible. Very strange. Can anybody help here? Maybe this issue is caused by the colulor of the windshield (alpha channel?). I don't know. I already posted my problem over there on Flightsim, just to no avail. Perhaps, David, you read this and we can compare our hardware/software in order to narrow down this problem. Best regards Jens
  15. Dear friends, Incidentally I saw this forum for Carenado products. Perhaps your expert knowledge can solve two problems, which frustrated me in awhile. First problemconcerns the beautiful Carenado Archer II for FS2004: In VC view there is an immense gap between the left edge of the "glass" and the right edge of the center windshield strut. It actually looks like the "glass" of the windscreen is shifted off to the right. The gap is only visible fom inside in VC view. I have contacted Carenado and they indeed have been very cooperative in trying to resolve this issue but in the end they could not figure out what would cause this trouble nor how to fix it. I already did a second try downloading the file from Carenado - without success. Actually I've made six - fruitless - attempts to reinstall. The gaps are always visible. Really frustrating. I have attached a screenshot, just in case that I didn't describe this problem in a suitable manner. Second problem concerns the Carenado C152 II for FS2004: When looking back in VC, the tail of the plane is not visible. Behind the rear window there's just the antenna visible (without any link to the fuselage). But there's no tail. Looking strange behind such a wonderful cabin. Externally the model is flawless. I use the freeware module F1View from Flight1 (a small module that installs into FS2004 and supplies simple mouse-based movements, panning. You can also move past the default view limits of FS2004 (good for strolling through virtual cabins)). If I scroll back in VC through the rear window, the tail of the plane becomes visible. Therefore even this issue is unique to VC view. I run FS9.1 on a PC with the following main specs: Win7/64bit, i5-2500k, MB: Asus P8P67, Samsung F1 1 TB, 8GB RAM1600, Palit GTX 570.My sim is rather large (roundabout 100 GB) with more than 700 sceneries, and more than 50 aircraft, most of them payware. There are no other issues except for the ones I told you. Around a dozen of other Carenado planes work fine without any problem. I'd be very thankful, if you could help. Thanks in advance for your replies! Jens
  16. Dear friends,I have a problem concerning the beautiful Carenado Archer II for FS2004.In the VC view there is an immense gap between the left edge of the "glass" and the right edge of the center windshield strut. It actually looks like the "glass" of the windscreen is shifted off to the right. I have 10 aircraft from Carenado. They work fine, except for this certain issue. At first glimpse I thought it could be caused by an extraordinary eyepoint. But I don't use TrackIR or something like that. I only use the F1View-module (freeware) in VC. The gap is only visible fom inside in VC view.As far as I'm concerned, the trouble isn't caused by the reflection-texture for the windscreen either. I changed it by creating a larger reflective zone - expectably without success. The gap ist part of the model, I suppose. But there is no evidence. Is there anybody out there, who can help? Your help is very much appreciated!Kind regardsbtw: HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone of you!
  17. Thanks again, John!I'll do my best. Btw, your homepage - i have to admit that I never noticed it before - is a real treasure box.Your knowledge about fault finding in Fs2004 seems to be as distinctive as your penchant concerning exotic airport sceneries. :( Great work. And appreciated help for people like me.Thanks!Best regardsJens
  18. Firstly, thanks to all of you for your kind reply!Yes, I DID install some new sceneries in the last week. Roundabout 20 airports in Sweden.I'll follow your advice and uncheck the new sceneries in the library.@Arnipie: Your hint at ESNS sounds really interesting, for I actually installed Skelleftea (ESNS).Easter Island IIRC and KMSP are unkonwn to me.@John: Nice sculpture made of buildings. But the placement of the statue and the "big upside down arrow" in my case does not seem to be so randomly. Seems that somebody placed those objects accurately. But who knows?I'll let you know about my insights. Thanks again!Jens
  19. Hello there! This is my first post. Indeed it's the first post ever, for I've never been a forum member before. But now there's the need to ask for your help, as you' ll read later on.But at first I want to introduce myself. My name is Jens, I'm from Germany - and consequently I want to apologize for possible mistakes concerning grammar and vocabulary (as AE is not my native language ... and times of school are long ago). Since more than a decade I'm interested in flight simulations. 2005 was my personal start in the beloved FS2004. A big, big love.I'd be very glad, if you could give me an explanation for a strange change in my default airport scenery of KSEA Seattle Tacoma. As I started the default flight (myflt) recently, I noticed two unwelcome objects next to the runway: on the right there's an monstrous "arrow" rammed down in the ground, grey (without any texture) an nearly looking like a great tower. On the left theres the stoical face of a "moai" (one of those monolithic human figures carved from rock on the Easter Island). That's it. I really want to get rid of those objects. But I simply don't know how. :( I should give you more information: In order to get rid of some trees on the apron of an addon-airport in France, I recently searched for a possibility to make an exclude-file. Therefore I tried to install some tools for scenery design (BGLXML 1.8, SBUILDER, ObPlacer 0.40) - without success. I never get things started (every time there si the need for components or files, my system doesn't supply). Maybe those objects were evoked by those unsuccesful installations?! Maybe it's a hack, meant as a joke (well, I'm not laughing at all)?!I don't know. I hope you do.Thanks in advance and greetings to all friends of our FS2004, wherever you are!Jens
