  1. Look, Brian, I said in my opinion. Yes, I purchased the product and yes, I'm disappointed because it doesn't quite deliver what was promised. Yes, it adds nice textures, but those different textures don't improve the look of the landclass at all. I have all three FTX products (Global, Vector and now LC-EU) and I'm disappointed. My comment was aimed at those on the fence about spending the money to buy LC-EU. In my opinion, it's not worth the investment. If you're happy with it, then great, I'm happy for you.
  2. No, rather than spend the money on LC-EU, I suggest you save the money and spend it instead on the PMDG. Again, IMHO. The difference between FTX Global and FTX Global + LC-EU is minimal and likely to disappoint those expecting more dramatic improvements. As for bicycles and fish, well, I'll leave that one alone.
  3. IMHO, this is a waste of money. For those of you looking for added realism in areas where FTX Global or the default scenery does a poor job (i.e. Lisbon but pretty much all of Southern Europe), you won't see any improvement. Give your money instead to PMDG. Gil Ferreira IMHO, this is a waste of money. At the risk of being attacked by those of you with too much time on your hands, I have a suggestion I'd like to put forward for the upcoming T7 patch: increase the size of the click zones around the speed, heading and altitude knobs. Admittedly, I've adjusted my view settings to 78, -0.55, 7.5, but that's just so that I can get a better inflight view of all the instruments. Unfortunately, this also makes it very difficult to use the autopilot knobs when in flight. Respectfully, PMDG, I'm asking that you increase the click zones for all three autopilot knobs as part of your T7 patch. Other than that, this bird is perfect. Congratulations PMDG on developing what is now the best aircraft available for FSX simulation. I can't wait for the expansion pack! Gil Ferreira
  5. Thanks all for the wonderful suggestions. I'll try them in order, though I do have the UAC already disabled as I find it annoying. As for FSX remnants left behind, I cleared those that I'm aware of, but I didn't go through the registry. Everything was working just find and then suddenly, this error started coming up. I'll double check again and see if your suggestions fix the problem. Thanks all! Gil Ferreira
  6. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should this have been posted to Tip and Tweaks instead? Gil
  7. After recently reinstalling FSX, I now get an error when trying to use FPS Limiter. The error is: (0xc0000005) "app was unable to start correctly click ok to close. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there a way to fix it? I used FPS Limiter for the past year without ever encountering this problem. I made sure to save my old bat file to use with my reinstalled FSX. It now doesn't work nor does the new bat file I created to replace it. All I get now is the (0xc0000005) error message. Any help or suggestions from the forum would be much appreciated. Gil Ferreira

Dear PMDG: I know your products currently only support Windows 7, but for those of us looking to upgrade to Windows 8 later this month, will we need to request reactivation of our NGX products? Windows 8 installs over the old operating system and reformats the windows HD, therefore, any embedded aircraft-use permissions on our computers will be lost. Any guidance you can provide us on this issue would be most welcome. Cheers, Gil PS In asking the above question, I'm well aware that reactivation to run on a Windows 8 system is not the same as expecting support from PMDG for products running on Windows 8. Clearly, support for the products will come but not until PMDG has had time following the release of W8 to investigate possible code conflicts.
  10. While I'm an FSX fan, I do see potential with XP. The autogen has the look of Cities XL, which might be a good way to clad a city, but it will never replace detailed satellite images. As for many of the points raised by Mike, I couldn't agree more. The user interface remains terrible, especially for those of us looking to migrate from FSX over to XP. It still very much has the look and feel of Mac, not windows, which may be part of the problem. Please don't attack me for the comment, as I really don't want to get into a debate about MS vs Apple. That said, the interface needs some serious work, as it is anything by intuitive for those of us used to something far more user friendly. The aircraft models remain terrible, by comparison to what is currently available in FSX - both payware and freeware. I suspect that as payware developers become more familiar with XP 10, we'll begin to see significant improvements both in quality and variety. That said, you certainly get quite the range of aircraft in XP, which is very impressive. The scenery, I believe, looks much better than traditional FSX. The colour wheel is right and we don't have all those deserts textures like we do in the default FSX. Personally, I think XP nailed the ground textures, though I agree with Mike, overall, the sim may be a little dark. Night lighting looks fantastic. As for performance, this remains an issue, which is why I never fully took to XP-9. Simply put, it does not have the same flight feel as FSX. I certainly hope much of this can be worked out, but for now, I think I'll remain an FSX user.Bill
