  1. Thank you, glad you liked it and thanks for taking the time to comment Doogie
  2. Had the same issues with here and the REX forums with IE11 since I upgraded to it. I checked the settings in internet options and copy/paste box is checked. Must be a bug between the browser and the forum software. I was trying to post a video on here the other day and had to use my big machine with firefox to get the job done. Doogie
  3. Thanks Ryan, hence the reason why I said wait until someone that knows what there talking about comes along. I just seem to remember a discussion on here some time ago and the VAS/VRAM stuff was mentioned, probably around the time the GTX590`s came out. Thanks for clearing that up Doogie edit, I take it that's the reason when folks stick a big VRAM card in and think they can crank the settings way up they still OOM? Pretty sure I hit the sweet spot with my 580, wondering how the 770 will do when I install it.
  4. Great news Howard, keep us posted how it goes. I`m looking forward to installing my 770 tomorrow. Even bought a new can of air to give the case a good blow out Doogie
  5. Yeah Howard that is exactly what I mean my friend. Best to wait until someone more qualified than myself pops in this thread though before doing anything drastic like returning it. Geoff has a good point as well tough, making sure highmemfix is in there. I wish you best of luck mate, I really do think that the issue is the huge amount of Vram killing your VAS in DX9. :( Doogie
  6. Hey Howard are you running it in prepar3d V2.0 or FSX. My EVGAGTX 770 2gb is coming tomorrow. The reason I never went for the 4gb model was that I still run FSX in DX9 very happily on my 580 1.5gb. No OOM`s or other issues like that. I do keep LOD at 4.5 and knocked the scenry complexity and autogen down a notch or two when I started flying the PMDG 777. The way I understand it, 32gb apps like FSX in DX9 shadow the VRAM into VAS so a 4gb card will OOM pretty easily. I could be way of the mark if you are running prepar3d V2 or FSX in DX10 I`m don't think this rule applies. Someone will have to clarify that though as I`m not totally clued up on how DX10/11 works. If prepr3d goes native 64bit in the future and supports SLI then I was going to stick another 7702gb in and run them SLi. Just throwing that out there for you mate. Doogie
  7. Congratulations Jim, well deserved. In the few times I have needed help around here you have always been first to step in. Doogie
  8. Sticking an EVGA GTX 770 in mine on Monday upgrading from GTX580 which is on its last legs. Not into Prepar3d yet but thanks for the tips on the shaders folder, I suppose same applies for FSX. As for installing the card, I would have thought it would be common sense to uninstall all GFX drivers then remove the card after that a reboot, before sticking a new card in and re installing a new card and drivers There is no way in hell I`m re installing an OS and FSX plus all the add ons just for a card upgrade. Its ALWAYS best to remove any graphics drivers before an upgrade with re boots in between and will save a lot of headaches even if you are running the same driver. Cheers Doogie
  9. Name: 777 Crosswinds KIAD (FSX) Category: MS FSX Videos Date Added: 29 November 2013 - 05:54 PM Submitter: doog79 Short Description: A little crosswind practice at KIAD in the PMDG 777. Winds 18kts gusting 22 Just a little video of me getting some crosswind practice in the PMDG 777-200LR. No fancy editing this time. Winds were 18kts gusting 22kts. Autopilot off at 1600ft. This is the last video from my failing GTX580. EVGA 770 on the way and a lot more videos in the future. 10. Seems to be back to normal fingers crossed. Flew EDDF-KJFK in the PMDG 777F without a hitch. Not had to change any settings. Must just have been slight changes to the way the BIOS was with my usual overclock settings. Whats the saying, if it aint broke don't fix it lol Doogie
  11. Jim many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Seems to be all sorted now. Had to add a tiny amount of voltage and everything is running great. Just completed a flight I couldn't make this morning. Cheers Doogie
  12. Thanks a lot Jim. I installed FSInn/Copilot after the BIOS upgrade but they were not running at the time so I`m suspecting a GFX driver issue which I`ve just upgraded to the latest cleanly. Aso I`ll have a look at that voltage thread you pointed me to. I was expecting some sort of issue upgrading the BIOS and re doing my overclock. Got to love computers lol Doogie
  13. So FSX has ran great for months, can fly 14 hrs without OOM`s or other issues. I did upgrade my BIOS the other day on the ASUS P8P67Pro Rev 3.1 as I`m going to stick a 7 series card in it before I get a gen 3 motherboard and CPU. My overclock is stable and temps are very good, better than with the older bios I was running. Maybe someone has an idea. I did install FSInn & FS Copilot the other day but they all seem to be working without issue. 14. I fired up FSRecorder this morning while flying Hay River to Yellowknife (CYHY-CHZF) as I knew I was expecting some wild crosswinds on arrival. Some of you may know this route as the sched on Ice Pilots NWT. Was 15kts gusting 22kts which makes the DC3/C47 a real handful. I ended up going around for a second attempt as the gusts were blowing me way of track. Hope you enjoy this fun little video that I made in a few hours of boredom today. Cheers Doogie Addons MAAM Sim DC3/C47, REX essentials Overdrive

Yup that is the PMDG 777-200LR
  16. He got mucked around a lot by the hosts of the forum big time. Caused lots of issues, he also worked himself some crazy hours to the point of burnout doing all those tutorial videos. Think he just needed to take a step back from it all. Trust me Dan was one of the hardest working guys in the community, he used to sit up for days on end without sleep doing those repaint videos and others. We all have to take a break now and then, especially when something fun starts taking over your life. Been close to it myself the last few months, between beta testing and VA commitments. Doogie
  17. . He is having an extended break from FSX just now. I am in touch with him now and again via email. You could try pming him via his youtube account. Think he fell out of love with the hobby after all the forum hastle and spending way to many hours doing the paint tutorials. Shame as he was a great contributor to the hobby. Doogie
  18. Dan had to shut the forum due to lots of issues with his host. Its still all backed up and may re appear at some point in the future. Doogie
  19. That would be great Tom. I used the old system a few times with linking to youtube but your idea sounds brilliant. Thanks Doogie
