  1. I kinda have a feeling that the wider beta team already has it. Remember, they told us when it would enter beta. They didn't say how long after the fact, and it ended up being about a month. I'm expecting to get an update with release dates, prices, and packages sometime soon. (Maybe Friday, or Sunday night)
  2. Changing the DU's isn't that bad. I believe they use a floppy disc, run some checks, and it is ready to go. It only takes an overnight to do this. It is correct that it is not a simple as pushing a few buttons, but it also doesn't require an rewiring or any "hardware" changes. That is one of the primary advances of glass cockpits.
  3. There is an airline-selectable option, that enables the flight crew to observe the flight controls on the lower DU. Not all airlines have that, some I'm pretty sure the crews just do a "free & clear" check of the flight controls.
  4. People who know about my obsession with flight sim ask me this all the time. My answer:"I probably could, but better yet, I can definately tell the autopilot how to"
  5. That's what it is like in real life. In cockpit-visit experiences I have had (on the ground) in real life, The HGS isn't the easiest thing to read/see. Alot of the information can easily get blocked off by many things, even if your head is out of centerpoint (by even inches)...this is what collimination is all about, and PMDG did a great job modeling it!

  7. Since it is the weekend, I was wondering if we can get a small update on the NGX, just something small, like what you guys worked on this past week? Or maybe what you will be working on this upcoming week? Just a little something (only needs to be a short sentence) to keep us all sane. Pretty Please? :)
  8. BETA won't be announced, until the NGX is actually in BETA For all we know, the NGX could be in BETA as we speak. I'm guessing the reason for this is if a big problem were to arise (with the installer, etc..) the can quietly fix it. That way, we would never know about it, and we wouldn't be as disappointed when BETA (as we know) takes a couple months..
  9. I agree 100%Like he stated, she could've had another job, where she was making more money. We all know that aviation is a costly adventure, and if you want to succeed in it, you have to WORK your way to the top...a stressful job with many sleepless nights and low wages are just ways to get there...or you can join the military, who pays for it, but is even more stressful then civilian flying. Either way, to get to be a major airline pilot, it is gonna take hard work and dedication. Period.I hate when people blame the Colgan Accident on low wages...because it isn't. It was the pilots' inablitiy to keep SA and know what is going on around them...and also the Capt. who "pulled up" in a stall, which is a huge mistake that nobody (with proper training) should make.Sure, I will admit they didn't make much, and didn't get much sleep, and were pressured at their jobs. But really, thats not the cause of the accident. The cause was pilot error.
  10. Those Jepps are exactly what I use for simming now...the expired ones from MyPilotStore! I would highly recommend them, as they are as realistic as possible (the same exact charts airline pilots use), and you never have to worry about printing out approach plates for most flights! I've got almost the entire United States worth of Jeppesen Charts just from buying these expired packs.
  11. As Ryan just stated, I'm sure they will be. The amount of detail being put into the NGX is just phenomenal!
  12. The 727 had a Flight Engineer, and I believe that is what you are referring to here.
  13. I believe that Continental (now United) still does.
  14. Yes, SWA uses PFD/ND format now. It was changed (I think March-April of 2010), to accomodate for RNP Procedures. They also use VNAV and have A/T, which weren't operational before.
