Please do not get too deep guys, the main reason for the post was to see what I was doing anything wrong in the FMC by entering waypoints and airways, I picked the route manually, strait off a current chart, it was a made up route, not meant to be correct, just an exercise to see if I understood how to enter info. The fact that it would not enter without a disco, I was unsure why, the fact my AIRAC was too far out of date is the most probable cause, if I had picked another route, the problem may not have occurred and I would have felt pleased that I had learnt a little more about the FMC. If I try to enter CROFT after UP16 I just get INVALID ENTRY if I continue with route I get a discontinuity I can't close, it will accept BEGAM, but not CROFT, and assuming g_precentralisis is using a newer AIRAC, that must be my problem as I am still on the original AIRAC 1108 not a big deal just wondering what I was doing wrong, thanks for all your help everyone. Yes I did use DCT which as you say works fine, just wondered why I couldn't enter the airway, first time I have tried entering airways and assumed user error :( still learning the black art of FMC Many thanks Steve

Thanks for the screen shot, just how I thought it should look, I have not updated my AIRAC as Chris Mentioned, so perhaps that is the problem. I am at work so may not get chance to try again until tomorrow. as I said it was just a fictional route using a chart, the chart is probably current, my AIRAC is original. many thanks Steve

Hi, Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong, on the FMC route page, already put in departure runway from EGNT on departure page, trying to put in a fictional route to EGKK DCT RAPUM, UP16 to CROFT, UN615 to HON etc. if I put RAPUM on the right side, next line on left side UP16 (which should be the airway) it will not let me put Croft on the right hand side just throws up a Discontinuity which I can’t erase I thought (probably wrongly) the left side was VIA and the right side was TO, unless I have the airway name wrong :( Many thanks Steve

Pleased you know what you are looking at, when I got the 580 I nearly got the one with more memory but after reading a lot of people said it could cause more OOM Crashes, now you have said that I am pleased I didn’t bother. I7 930 overclocked to 3.9 4096 Textures 6.5 LOD ******* tweaks on CFG Word Not Allowed’s Nvidia inspector settings Most settings full apart from water Set Low and traffic set Low On 1900 x 1200 I can get a comfortable 30FPS obviously dropping at complicated airports but still smooth. Thank you all for your reply’s, I downloaded afterburner and ran as PieEater suggested, and to my untrained eye:- 2 cores of the cpu are at 100% 1 at 75% 1 at zero Graphics didn’t get above 54% So looks like the CPU Many thanks Steve

Just a quick question, I have an I7 930 running at 3.9 and a GTX 580 Graphics card. Running at a resolution 1900 x 1200 I can get good smooth flight with the NGX, and Rex with fairly high settings, I know I am pushing it but if I run at 2560 x 1600 on my Dell 30” detail looks so much better but I struggle with FPS when I get to an add on airport, (not surprisingly) which is causing the problem the CPU or Graphics? I will upgrade to Haswell if it looks like a good overclocker, I understand I am getting good results with my current setup, and realise I am trying to push it a bit too far but always striving to go a bit further. It took me a while to find it, in google settings, Web History, Disable customisations based on search activity. Seems To have done the trick, many thanks Steve

Hi Ben I had a similar problem, and searching the forum I found that the course window on the autopilot panel has to be within 90 degrees of the heading, from you screen shot that may be the problem. Steve
