  1. Hi Folks, I still use the very first version from the releaseday (never touch a running system! I have no issues at all).I use internal Ivap, which doesn't cause any problems too. Anyway, on my old machine the NGX crashed often - no issues on the new one (specs below...)
  2. just disable it in the FMC options menu and it should be gone...
  3. Just got out the MD-11 again yesterday. She's one fine bird too! Amazing how advanced the concept of the MD-11 was at that time, a shame that only so few were made. The VC is still great, although it's not as good as the NGX's.I really like the MD-11 and will keep on flying it too.
  4. I think he's wondering why the nose isn't pitched up.Well, I THINK that the pitch during approach doesn't matter and really depends on your weight, while the pitch doesn't tell anything about the glideslope at all.You can maintain your glideslope (which is mostly somehthing around 3 degrees) regardless of the pitch.
  5. or you just get yourself the EZdok software, which makes it a lot easier...
  6. if you have trouble with a constantly glowing beacon, make sure that you had no other 800-model loaded before. fixed it for me.
  7. i5 here. only random CTD on exit, everything else runs great. (just to mention: new system - so absolutely clean install before running the NGX)
  8. Sooooo,I did it ;-) Just to try it, i used the Automatic Overclocking tool of the board, which took it right up to 4,3Ghz. Had to abort the stability test (I use SETI for that ;-) ) 'cause the temp would go over 80 just after seconds.Promised my wife some icecream in the city, and off we went ;-)Now I have a Corsair H60 Watercooler which keeps it cool and quiet. At maximum load (with OC!) it's 10 degrees (Celsius that is!) cooler that with the boxed cooler and no overclocking. To answer my original question: Yep, it's worth it! FSX seems to run a lot smoother. Funny thing is, it's smoother without external FPS limiting.
  9. Hi Vedran, I have 2x4GB. I'll have a look at your link, thank you!
  10. Hey everybody, in normal conditions, I'm happy with my system's overall performance. With heavy thunderstorms and rain (common these days in europe when you fly with real weather... ), my FPS drop a bit though. When building my system, I (at least think so) chose components, that would make overclocking possible (besides the boxed cooler).Does anybody have a comparison from his system (maybe somebody with an i5 too?) that shows if it's worth the risk (loss of warranty and so on), or at least any tips? Any help is very appreciated, thanks!
  11. I totally agree with that. In the meantime I ONLY use PMDG planes (I also have the Wilco Airbus which I haven't even installed on my new machine). To be honest, I didn't use the 747 much recenty since I really enjoyed the MD11 which has a great VC (the NGX is of course even better).
  12. I always used 2D until i saw those Angle of Attack videos. It took me like 1 day to get used to 3D, and panning with space+mouse (+stepping through all the views with "A"). Just'cause I got a bit lazy and I like the looks of it, I got EZdok.2D panels just don't make sense to me(!) anymore, but I see that there are different opinions and I'm fine with that. I just find that it adds a lot more realism to it (except you have home cockpit). But just having 1 screen I wouldn't know why ever to use 2D again.Just my 2 cents.
  13. Hello Luis, I have the late 2010 Mac Book Pro, with the Core i7 2,8Ghz. The actually the fastest MBP before the Sandy Bridge CPU came out.If you want to fly at a decent level, you have to lower your settings and resolution.(By the way, which Aerosoft Scenery did you use? The newer ones are VERY demanding!) What GPU with how much GPU Ram do you have?(Edit: Missed that in the original post. GPU is a little short of RAM I suppose.) Anyway, I find the overall performance of the MBP very poor, at least in Bootcamp. A friend of mine has the newest top-notch MAc Book Pro and can't get decent framerates with ANY add-on plane. (By the way: Performance will NOT get better with 64bit OS, I think it's Bootcamp related....) Jens End of the story was, that I got myself a nice i5 Desktop machine, see specs below.
  14. did you follow the nvidia inspector tutorial in the forum here? my settings are nearly similar, my hardware slightly slower... i am very happy with the performance!
  15. I now have an i5 2500K, 8Gb RAM, a not so fresh GTS250 GPU and Win7 64 bit since saturday. Clean install, installed all the addons and just ran it through venetubo. Great performance. So, dear OP, you should consider that YOU messed it up.
