  1. I posted this topic a couple of hours ago but it disappeared? So again, I tested this scenario out 3 times with the same conclusion. A specific SID contained in the database is causing CTD's. Specifically, the SID is named "KAREN4" from "YMHB". I tried loading the SID at different points whilst on the ground at YMHB (ie, Gate 10, Apron & RWY12) all with the same result. On the 4th ocassion I elected to not choose any SID at all, and no CTD. I tested the LD767 using the same SID on it's FMC/CDU and no CTD. I'm not a programming expert by any stretch of the imagination but logic points me in one direction here. In fact, I've experienced other CTD's whilst in-flight where it appears that a specific point (ie waypoint) causes a CTD. (YBCG to YSSY). In order to rectify this particular problem (ie YBCG to YSSY) I just remapped/resaved the plan again in the CDU/FMC and no more CTD's at that waypoint. Rgds,
  2. I posted this topic a couple of hours ago and it disappeared? (coupled with another issue to do with a certain SID in the PMDG database causing CTD's). So again, just to point out to any fellow NGX simmers out there, that if you are experiencing any VC panel freezes check and see if the cuplritis the above app sitting in Task Manager. In my experience with my rig, I've found that this little beaut has inadvertently caused a freeze when it runs an authorization check on the NGX. At least twice nowit has caused a freeze and I've been able to get to task manager and shut the "FNP Licensing Services exe" process down, and immediately the panel un-freezesand I can continue with the flight. I'm not stating categorically that YOU are experiencing this, but just in case check it out. Rgds,
  3. Hi Ryan, I can confirm that (in my case) that there are instances when the SID/STAR database (PMDG) causes a CTD. I have replicated this on 3 ocassions just this morning and there is no mistake about it. I have an airport add-on for Hobart Australia (YMHB). Whilst on the ground prepping for a DEP, if I choose the KAREN4 SID in the database this causes a CTD. I can be anywhere on the airport grounds (I tried 3 different locations whilst on the ground at YMHB) and experienced the same problem. When electing NOT to choose that SIDthere is no CTD. On the 1st ocassion the CTD occurred after the flight plan was entered and SID chosen. Once I got to the TAKE-OFF PERF page of the CDU and was entering the v2 speed"WOOSHKA!" .....CTD. On the 2nd & 3rd ocassion (a different location at YMHB - RWY12 & APRON) I entered in ALL the data and activated, then input the SID just prior to T/O and "VOILA!"...CTD. Coincidence? PS: No such CTD at YMHB with other a/c (ie non PMDG a/c) In addition to this, I have noticed that an app "FNP" appears in Task Manager at times. When it appears I have noticed that it coincides with a panel freeze in VC 3D. I have been able to clear the freeze bygoing into Task Mngr and STOP PROCESS of the FNP exe app. I can then re-enter FSX and all is well. Coincidence? It appears to me that the FNP exe app is related to the NGX. In my case it is interfering during flights and causing a panel freeze (whilst the FNP is carrying out some licensing-authorization checks). Rgds,
  4. Roger That! The NGX has re-invigorated my enthusiasm for FSX. I was bored with years of the Level D 767 (but still an amazing product for it's time) and a few other a/c including 747 Queen of the Skies.........but I can't go back to any of them anymore since the NGX. I wasn't even a 737 enthusiast either.... until now. And if you haven't flown 3D yet with the NGX, see how that changes you! I hope PMDG revamps or works all the Boeing line of a/c in the same detail as the NGX.PS: Airbus too if they can..........all of them will sell like hotcakes. Rgds,
  5. Hi Burt, could you please elaborate on precisely what you did and how? Rgds
  6. YEEHA! The best a/c for FSX is just going to get better!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell yeah, I'll wait a little longer!
  7. Hi Andrea, just to let you know that I have experienced this from time to time also. Despite the fact that I carried out all the necessary checks, everything was in place but still occassionally the Auto Fail message appeared. I can tell you that what I discovered was that "Winds Aloft" particularly at cruise level affected it. There is no doubt about it. I'm not certain that what you are experiencing is precisely the same, but if you have carried out all the appropriate checks and everything is in order for certain.......then look at your winds aloft....are they gusting? See what you come up with. Rgds, XCL
  8. Is anyone experiencing that when arriving at an airport, (or indeed whilst parked at gate prior to Dep) whilst parked gateside that when opening the Front Cargo door that the FSX cargo loaders don't respond.....they just sit there as though they don't recognize the fact that the cargo door is opened? PS: 1: Yes, a/c is parked correctly at gate. 2. Yes, tried both Front Door and Rear Cargo Door (seperately and together) 3. Yes, physically checked that the actual Cargo Door/s are open (external a/c view) 4. Yes, tried with both Engines OFF and ON 5. Yes, the FSX Cargo loaders are working with other add-on & stock FSX a/c It's by no means a Deal Breaker but would be good to see work. Appreciate any assistance. Rgds, XCL
  9. That's perfect Leffe! Thanks. Rgds, XCL
  10. Thank you for the reply Gents. The info in the FCOM's does not address what I require. There are no labels in the FCOM's clearly identfying each item in each area. eg: the checklist may refer to a specific item to check, however some of us may not be familiar with that item or know what or where to look to find it. Hence my question on a diagram with labels. Rgds, XCL
  11. Hi all, I'm attempting to utilize the 737 Checklists compiled by Michael Swannick, and wanted to know if thereare any diagrams of the flightdeck that will mirror or clearly identify each of the items in the checklistand the corresponding specific section of the flightdeck where that item can be located. I have the manuals that were provided with the NGX but haven't seen diagrams of each section ofthe flightdeck (ie MC Panel, Throttle Quadrant, Overhead Forward etc) and a label identifier on eachinstrument within that panel/area. Rgds, XCL
  12. Anyone know which sound file is responsible for the Seat Belt Chime sound? I've looked through the folder within NGX but can't determine which one it is as I want to engineer it with a louder volume. PS: Had to engineer the Wind sound files previously as I thought they were too dominating when flying at cruise...now happy with the result. Rgds, XCL
  13. Hey Thruster, nice shots and happy to see you're achieving some good FPS. Can I ask what the FPS is like when you're on APP or Parked at the larger airports with AI? Thx & Rgds, XCL
  14. Hi Edward, I mainly fly using the ORBX-FTX scenery for Australia. (Haven't invested in the scenery they've completed thus far for the Pacific Northwest US and Central Mountain Rockies - but I will soon). There is an immersive quality with the scenery when flying in 3D as compared to the default or photoscenery. The same crowd (ie ORBX-FTX) created several of the larger (and smaller) airports/airfields in Australia (and elsewhere) also and the immersiveness is mindblowing. Rgds, XCL
  15. Hi Zsolt, I would recommend saving/spending the money on an updated Monitor capable of providing you with a higher resolution. Alternatively, make sure your nVidia driver (ie 3D) is the latest - - from memory its at version 270 now. You may be able to get higher res on your current monitor with some tweaking and an updated driver. Just do some research on the web for your monitor in 3D (if you haven't done so yet). Good Luck! Rgds, XCL
  16. Hi James, as Michal pointed out there are a few things that you need to do: 1. Ensure you have a 3D capable monitor with the appropriate refresh rate (usually 120Hz)2. Make sure your Graphics card is 3D capable3. Make sure you download the nVidia latest 3D driver4. Make sure you have the 3D glasses That's pretty much your checklist to go 3D. You will never look back at 2D again. PS: I didn't point out that the only real "irk" I have about FSX in 3D is the fact that night lighting in scenery SUCKS......ie when the developers were building it they didn't code the lights correctly for 3D and hence when taxiing around an airport or coming in for landing the lights do not match up to there actual positions. At first, this can be annoying, but after a few flights and trials you learn to deal with it. But pretty much everything else is SPECATCULAR! Rgds, XCL
  17. Hi Artur, I recently purchased the brand new release Acer Monitor HN274H 3D - 27 inch. Full res @ 1920 x 1080. Overall, I'm pleased with it and the graphics display. There is always some issues whether they be minor/majorin relation to things such as "ghosting" and other artifacts, and occassionally depending on the situation and the game, you see such things. In my case, overall I'm more than pleased with the results. I can say that it would be almost unthinkable to go back to 2D within any of the games I have. FSX is no exception to this. Once you're bitten by the 3D bug......it's over. As I pointed out in my original post, the immersion in the NGX flightdeck is unsurpassable. I have the LDS767, AIrbus X A320, PMDG 747-400 and they're all fine in 3D. But there is a huge distinction once you're in the NGX for overallrealism. Couple that with excellent looking scenery, then hills, mountains, rivers, beaches all come to life in a more real feel. If you have EZCA, this just elevates the realism beyond comprehension. I would have no hesitation in recommending any person flying FSX to jump into 3D..........there's no going back to 2D after that. Rgds, XCL Hi Michael, yes the HGS comes through with a "wow" factor attached. But the NGX overall, smashes the competition. I would not want to be a rival developer to PMDG right now.......the true immersion in that flightdeck is incomparable to anything I've seen in FSX to date. You have to truly see it / experience it to believe it. I can't even post screen shots to let the pictures tell the story..............for obvious reasons. Rgds, XCL Hi Word Not Allowed, yeah, I hear the OLED's are a new technology and self light emitting with better color and speed.........how do we keep up with all the new gadgets!? I have the TIR, but don't always use it...particularly since EZCA. Rgds, Steve
  18. Hi all, since joining on the NGX train (ooops...I mean Plane) just over a week ago I noticed that nobody had discussed the NGX in terms of 3D. I'd like to report that the NGX in 3D is completely and utterly immersive. Coupled with EZCA and it kills. I've been simming since 1990, and it would not be inaccurate to say I've been waiting for this immersive Flight Sim (desktop) experience since then. Finally, it has been delivered with this product. If anyone else out there has been going full 3D give us a honk and let us know your thoughts andexperience. I'm running Win7-64bit, 1920x1080 Full HD. GTX 460 1Gb. 8 Gb RAM. 3 x 250 gb Raptor Drives. Quad Core 3.4 Ghz CPU. Frame rates with Gamebooster 3 enabled, nVidia Inspector, GPU OC'd to 815/2000 and my frames are sitting at around avg 15 (I'm mainly flying the FTXAussie airports which are pretty intensive CPU wise). I'll upgrade CPU soon to over 4Ghz and see how things run (or don't run). Anyhow, thought I'd let you all know this product ROCKS in 3D! Well done PMDG! You're the Benchmark! The NGX is the new standard in commercial flight simming! Rgds, XCL
  19. I am having a similar issue and I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit with 8Gb RAM and a GTX 460, 3.4 Ghz Intel Quad Core with Scenery settings up Mid to High. I've been flying the NGX for a week now and I had the 1st OOM problem just today? I'd be interested to know what is going on with that. Also got Gamebooster v3 going and it has killed a lot of the background processes and was actually helping performance (so I thought). I'm also running nVidia Inspector with the settings as recommended. So far though, this problem has only occurred at 1 airport in my database (the 2 OOM crashes happened at the same airport - and it is by no means a frame rate eating airport)? See how things go. Rgds, XCL
  20. Hi Alex thx for your response. I went ahead with your suggestion, and as I understand it my keyboard configuration within FSX takes "Page Up" and "Page Down" to not only be the 2 dedicated keys alongside "Home" and "End", but also the Num Lock keys for "PgUp" and "PgDn"?! How about that!? I've now killed the assignment and all is well. Thx for your assistance! Rgds, XCL
  21. Hi all, just trying to figure out where I can disable the key commands for the Throttle Quadrant. Currently, it seems that Page Up is controlling Thrust Forward and Page Down is controlling Thrust Reverse. I've checked the controls within FSX and Page Up and Page Down are not listed anywhere? (Yes, I've gone through it thoroughly!) I also took the liberty to go through the menu on the CDU within NGX and there are no assignments for Page Up or Page Down in that either? What the hell is going on? I'm currently using EZDOK 1.17 and the Page Up and Page Down buttons are assigned to up and down movements within that. Ergo, each time I attempt a walk around and utilise either button it affects the aircraft. PS: Yes, I could reassign the EZDOK but I would rather uncover this mystery first. Appreciate any assistance. Rgds, XCL
  22. Thanks to all for your invaluable assistance.....it's greatly appreciated! Rgds, XCL
  23. Hi Cristi, thx for the reply. Will conduct some more searches here in the forum and see what I find. PS: Would of been advantageous to do it straight from the CDU/FMC?! Rgds, XCL
  24. At this point I'm looking at airports in Australia. From YSSY, YSCB, YBBN, YMML, YMHB, YPAD, YPPH, YPDN to mention a few. (Some of the info for SIDS/STARS is outdated in the current NGX database). It would have been advantageous to have the ability to create/modify/save the SID/STAR database to reflect the amendments (particularly for use in FSX). Rgds, XCL
