Major gaming site IGN reviews Flight
rs651 replied to OHN's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
And the truth shall set you free. About time someone publish the truth, exactly why this game will fail with it's current path. " it will undoubtedly alienate a wide swath of its potential audience – the hardcore crowd that not only filled its simulation coffers for years but also stuck with Microsoft through a variety of rough patches." -
Post Release - I'm still offended
rs651 replied to rs651's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
While I read and understand the point of the article I must make this point. Notice the last sentence and the word in uppercase letters? Conjecture - "A conjecture is a proposition that is unproven but is thought to be true and has not been disproven". This is no longer a feeling based on conjecture, it is a feeling based on fact. The fact is it's evident the direction Microsoft is taking Flight, and I don't like it. The time for conjecture is over and it's time to evaluate what we have as fact, the product has been released. It's a dumbed down flight simulator with a fatal flaw in my view, which is it was design to target the larger audience in hopes of generating more money while excluding the minority of the audience that actually uses the product faithfully. -
So release is here and gone and yet I find myself still highly mad at Microsoft for turning their backs on us loyal flight sim followers. Yes I tried and it an uninstalled it, just like the beta after an hour of play. I feel no better - post release than I did pre release and I think it's post worthy for me to come here and say that the path Micrososft choose with this is unforgivable and highly disappointing in my view. This was an avoidable situation on behalf of Micrososft who should have come out early with full disclosure to loyal fans that this was not a simulator, instead they kept silent while rumors and expectations of the next flight "simulator" was on all our minds.I like many others have the view that this will not catch on. Flight does not have the depth needed to keep the simmers interested and the average Joe or Julie who wants to fly a plane simply won't have an attention span long enough to be around when the addon's come out. Either Micrososft marketing knows something us simmers don't or Micrososft marketing made a very bad decision and we were right.Either way I just want Microsoft to know you lost a life-long supporter and customer over this decision. I hope for the sake of all flight simulator fans that enough feel the same way as me that the customers voice is heard.

MS admits loyal FS fan can jump off a bridge

^ This exactly. -
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/technologybrierdudleysblog/2017460350_qa_microsoft_flight_boss_on.html"Q: It seems like the tradeoff you made - building richer, smaller locales to explore in the game - is the loss of the full, open world that could be explored in "Flight Simulator"?A: The bet we've made is that to the non-hardcore simmer, flying the whole world isn't as interesting when there's nothing really interesting to see or do. I do get that for some segment of the audience that was one of the values - I can fly anywhere, into any airport, 25,000-odd airports was crazy. But I think as you try to broaden and you want to bring in not the next million or two but the next 20 million or 30 million people, you say I will err on the side of more interesting area that's dense than the same amount of content spread all over the globe. There's a lot to do in Hawaii, and Hawaii is gorgeous."So basically screw us million loyal flight sim fan cause their are 20 million more with cash. Sorry but this is flawed judgement, the casual gamer is not going to pay for this, they are just not and the hard-core simmers have already run for the exits. My blood is once again boiling over this interview - I really hope MS does a crash and burn on this one for the good of all us prior faithfull customers.

Flight will not succed, people in Beta have already uninstalled it - read the facebook page. It's crap

I'll be at CES next week. What questions do you have for MS?

^ ThisThere is no good spin for Flight and Microsoft knew it and that's why the left out news to the sim community. As a longtime supporter since Flight Sim 1 and 3rd party supporter, I personally feel wronged by Micrososft just as many others here do. Flight is a slap in the face to the consumers who supported them so long and I hope Micrososft gets what's coming to them for this move. So really I don't care what you ask them but please but sure to relay a message for us ... Micrososft is now blacklisted. -
No it's not! It's a slap in the face to loyal customers and the the word "SIM"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0d5e2Y7Y_UAirplane game? OK, I did not post this to make fun of the guy and at least he admits he does not know much about airplane games but this one looks cool. This is exactly the type of people that Micrososft is hoping to attract and they will uninstall it after 10 minutes - there will be no purchase of additional content. Good job Microsoft, way to kill a franchise!

So no one saw the January screenshots? WOW!

^ This, game over -
I have to agree with you both, how could they do this? What a let down

It's this part that bothers me most and is dead wrong."The goal of the game is to coat a stringent simulation with a fun, candy-coated shell. "If I can take anybody and make them feel like a pilot, we've succeeded," said Joshua Howard, the game's executive producer."Mr. Howard, if you can you make anyone feel like a pilot then you have excluded your devoted flight sim followers who made you what you are today. We don't embrace flight sims because everyone can be a pilot, we embrace it because we understand it and take the time to learn it's machanics, take your candy coated shell and eat it cause I don't even want to taste it!
