12SEP14 - General Update on Many Topics
Personally I would like to see PMDG work towards a completely new version of 737-X or 787, following the lead of Boeing. The latest record of sales at the Farnborough Air Show by the Boeing company indicate real airlines are now looking at the next version of super fuel-efficient 737s which hopefully will have similar cockpit and navigation systems more akin to the latest 777. Anyway, based on Mr R's priorities it would not be possible until 2017. The teething work would have been completed by Boeing and a large demand will occur by this time from flightsimmers as the appetite is wetted by activity in the skies at their nearest international airport.

737 NGX weather radar
I am not familiar with the latest generation of 737 cockpits but what else does the latest real versions have that is missing from the current cockpit layout of the PMDG 737 NGX apart from the obvious one of weather radar? If the 737NGX is the best selling product for PMDG then I think an update could be encouraged from the masses? (has it been that?) If the I am in the minority then I will do a disappearing act like Major Major Major of Catch 22 fame?

Boeing 777 Heavy Jet preparation procedures
Is there a standard time for prepartion for the flight crew before the pushback of the heavy jets. I presume this time would be prescribed by the company concerned but a generalised idea would be good. Secondly, I would love to see some bright spark come up with a better way to start up the long winded process of organising a long haul flight. Imagine it starts with an animated sequence like seen in a first person shooter where you arrive at the dispatch office and you are greeted by the dispatch officer and by the other crew members. You sign up for a flight and PFPX generates a flight plan report for you which automatically transfers to the EFB. The briefing uses ASN to generate a weather forecast report which as usual is included in the PFPX Flightplan. Next you and the other flight crew members are time warped to the cockpit. The animated co-pilot starts her procedures (FS2Crew) and the dispatch team also visit the cockpit to update your fuel and payload data. At the end of the flight you report back to the dispatch office at the arrival airport to sign off for the flight and get your butt kicked by the operations officer for any number of reasons: tardiness, using too much fuel, near misses or bad landings in a analysis of your flying abilities. I dont care if the crew look like they move like they are Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men. I think it woudl be really cool.

Anyone got a fix for the airbridge and 777?
I think this is an issue to do with FTX Global. It looks like the generic gates they use. Best to visit their forum and post your request there, if my assumption is correct. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/index.php?action=search

07AUG14 - PMDG 777 SP1b release timetable
I am interested to know if the latest update addresses the issue of FS2Crew not releasing its product with the Boeing 777 because the SDK does not fulfil their requirements in its present form. Having just flown from Singapore to Dubai it was pretty hectic on the approach and I forgot to set the landing lights so I was not happy. I have been psychologically scared by the experience. I need my computer NFP buddy to keep me sane. Going for a little lie down now until the afternoon, Andrew Barnett

777 Status
Well Mr York, do you feel the need for speed? If fs simmers went crazy while waiting for the update of PMDG 777 SP1 and the all important SDK, there will be lots of interest in the progress of FS2Crew for 777. The latest add-ons create extra workload for the pilot and having a co-pilot would make life easier. Therefore, I will ask about the elephant in the room. When will it be ready? What pressure? I hope you have a great weekend No pressure, Andrew Barnett Flight Simming since MS FS4

Let's have another world tour/plans for -300ER thread
What about a competition to see who is the first to fly around the world in which you have to visit at least one airport from every continent excluding Anatarctica (unless you want to include a flight around Mount Erebus). For example, YBBN-WSSS-OMDB-EGLL-SVFM-KLAX-YBBN. (Australia-Asia-Africa-Europe-South America-North America-Australia) Andrew Barnett MSFS4 onwards

09JUL14 - Release Planning for PMDG 777-200LR/F SP1 & 300ER
Imagine how silent the Forums would be if PMDG placed a giant countdown clock on their main page. Flightsim addicts would mesmerised by that clock. I will wait until the dust settles from the race to download........"on your marks.......waaaaaait foooooor it! " Andrew Barnett

Anybody have a update on Robert ?
I apologise for not signing my name on my reply. Andrew Barnett is my name. I have been a member of AVSIM since 1996 under the non dom de plume of Oscar de Wyldde. I have been an keen observer of the trials and tribulations of Microsoft Flight Simulator since MSFS4. The aircraft simulation from PMDG is second to none, they have been the leaders in producing excellent quality aircraft. PMDG is one of the best companies because they provide the immersion serious flight simmers like. The product sells itself because it is the best quality. I ask the following question, because I find the practise annoying and I have seen it repeated over and over again by everyone in the fs industry for the last 18 years. Why make announcements about immenient release of a new product which drags out into a serious of revisions which can last a whole year in a few cases? Is it too much to ask that vendors only make announcements about immenient release when they is ready to release the new product to the general public within the week with a reasonable 80 per cent plus assurance of doing so? Anybody have a update on Robert ?
Why make an announcement which will send the waiting trolls crazy when you are about to go into hospital to have an operation? It defies any logic. Maybe why resting up a short on-line course on business management practises would be advantage here. Of course, if it comes out tomorrow or in a year's time it does not matter, there is no competition out there to push the envelope. Flight simmers will purchase it eventually. You could always purchase a Majestic Dash 8?

"Microsoft Sells License to FS Franchise"
I suspect the Kardashians will purchase it for Bruce. It will come packaged in a gigantic butt-shaped box and will jiggle vigorously. It fits their air head persona and it would keep Bruce occupied working out what to do with it. If they can defy gravity, imagine what they could bring to "Flight Simulator" and inflate it with their jet setting ways. Tagline will be "Flight Simulator XXX: As real as the Kardashians." Of course this is all heresay/rumour but much stranger things have happened before..................65 million years ago a meteorite did hit the Earth (Science Fact not opinion).

What fresh hell is this? Water world, I expected fire and brimstone!
Thanks MDF86 for your assistance. I did what you suggested and downloaded the latest libraries. I think that the problem is a bit more complicated than just problems with incorrect textures. Everything changed when I added YSSY by CLS and YPAD (downloaded off PCAviator Aus website) and added ASN at the same time. I know I should have tested them individually. This is when the scenery went awry. A big black texture patch formed around the ground of any aircraft I flew. I could see that in the far distance the textures were ok. But I didnt have the ocean world. As I was going to purchase FTX Global and REX4 I could solve the problem later. After inserting FTX Global and REX4 I now have the black texture around my plane while flying in ORBX scenery (YSCB) and the water world surrounding the taxiways and runways of non-ORBX airports and an ocean world in the rest of the world. The ORBX scenery which worked just fine before the trouble started, now is corrupted and is nonsensical. Ultimate Airport environment scenery for the non-ORBX does not work anymore and I cannot get GEX to work even after reloading it. GEX worked just fine up to the insertion of FTX and REX4. Any suggestions?

What fresh hell is this? Water world, I expected fire and brimstone!
Recently I have purchased and loaded up Active Sky Next, FTX Global and REX4. The scenery is a continuous water world with mountainous seas and waterlogged airports. Where do I go from here? Scrub FSX off my hard drive? Start again and check each program? Cannot get GSX or UAE to work with REX4. Not a happy pilot Oscar de Wyldde

06MAY14 - PMDG 777 SP1/300ER Updates
Now children you will get your just desserts when you have eaten all your veggies. Time to close this thread as it serve no purpose but to create mass ill will and nothing happening just encourages silliness. It becomes counter productive to selling an add-on and reflects past practises to try to get the flight sim community to generate press for a new product.

FS2Crew Voice+Button with FSDT GSX
Meanwhile while we wait for the new version of FS2Crew there is a a work around solution to use both. In setting up your startup for the FS2Crew panel tick off that you do not require pushback by FS2Crew. Then just use the GST pushback when it comes the time to move away from the airbridge. I always use FS2Crew and GST together. It is a matter of working out the sequence of events. Looking forward to FS2Crew for PMDG777. Watch your six Oscar
