  1. After few runds on forum I think I have landed on the following. Does it look ok for MSFS? - GPU - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super Windforce OC 3X HDMI 3xDP 8GB - CPU - Intel Core i9 9900K 3.6GHz - Memory - Team T-FORCE Vulcan Z 32GB 3200MHz RAM - Storage - Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB SSD and two old drives - Samsung SSD 840 PROSeries 256GB and WD Desktop Black 2TB - Case - NZXT H1 - Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-I GAMING mini ITX - Monitor 2560 x 1440 (Dell) Any weak points or mistakes made? 🙂
  2. Got nothing - an 7 year old 4770k. But with two small kids, prebuilt is attractive 😊
  3. Any thoughts on i9-10900kf vs. recommnded ideal i7-9800x? Any downside with i9 vs i7-9800x? Graphic card would be anyway 2080TI w 11GB and RAM 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz. i am about to order a prebuilt Alienware.
  4. Here are some of sunset scenes from my flights. Nice moments.
  5. I am mightly impressed with how much this new version has improved over FSX. I have been away for more than 7 years, and this is groundbreaking. Perhaps most of you do not care, but I just want to share my reflection on various requests for wing flex, detailed ground lightning, trees, etc. This is from an PPL-ASEL holder perspective with long experience from flying DA40-180 and DA40-TDI. When you fly, frankly, you do not focus on how much the wing of your plane is flexing, nor do you care if an tree is 2m or 20m high, unless it is on the approach/departure path of the runway, and you definately do not care about reflections on the engine cowling. What you, as a pilot-in-command, care about is how to safely execute an flight from A to B while enjoying the privileges of flying. For me the following aspects of a new sim are the most important, I have most likely forgot some as well: How the aircraft handles on ground and in the air, throughout its flight envelope including stalls, steep turns, slow flight, impact of flap config changes, etc. How well the aircraft systems reflect the real systems - e.g. startup procedure, fuel management, engine management, autopilot, failures, etc. How the weather environment is simulated - visual and physical depiction and its impact on flight, i.e. wind and wind aloft, gusts, rain, icing, thunderstorms, various cloud types and their effect, inversions, thermals, etc. How the landscape impacts the flight - eddies, mechanical turbulence, waves, etc. How the lightning impacts the visual picture - mid-day "washed out" effect on the colour, morning/afternoon with more saturated colours, night flying, moonlight reflecting on terrain, etc. Look & "feel" of the aircraft - noise, vibration, wear & tear, snags, etc. Airport depiction - runways, taxiways, buildings, and major relevant obstacles (e.g. the radio mast at Ganderkesee is a must!) How the environment is visualized, with focus on atmospheric conditions (light and looks) Attaching couple of pictures from recent flights in DA40.
  6. I was away from simming for 7 years. My old system consists of: Intel® Core i7-3770K ProcessorCorsair Dominator DDR3 1866MHz 16GBASUS Maximus V Formula, Socket-1155ASUS GeForce GTX 680 2GB PhysX CUDA I am "old school" and run single montior at 1920x1080. Perhaps I could add one more monitor. I was getting average performance with FSX. Flying primarily to aerosoft airports and using PMDG 737. Would I get noticeable performance boost (smoothness and FPS, not into autogen/AI planes) with upgrade to latest tech? What would you suggest in such case? Thank you all in advance, and sorry if I ask obious questions, but I have been away for 7 years :)
  7. Perhaps I am not up to speed, but is it known if tehy will integrate depiction of SIGMETs in the weather engine? For example it could read from https://www.aviationweather.gov/sigmet/intl?hazard=all&loc=eur
  8. Hi, I have been almost 4 years away from FS and see that there were numerous new releases and developments since then. I intend to fly either on FSX or P3D v4 with aircrafts like PMDG 737 and Aerosoft CRJ (not purchased yet). Sceneries would be such as Flytampa LOWW (not sure if it is being used anymore) and aerosoft offerings. Weather would be by ASX (also not sure if it is outdated). I am not interested in AI nor other ground traffic enhancing addons. My question is - what is needed to run the above smoothly without any stuttering? Do I need to change the whole old system, and if not, what should I upgrade? My current system is: i7-3770K Processor Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Kit w/4x4GB XMS3 DHX, CL9-10-9-27, Platinum ASUS Maximus V Formula, Socket-1155 ASUS GeForce GTX 680 2GB PhysX CUDA Samsung SSD 840 PROSeries 256GB 2.5" OEM WD Desktop Black 2TB I have Dell U2713HM and run the resolution at 2560x1440. Thanks in advance! Aleks
