Curtiss C-46 Commando Confirmed
What a shame another basic pane with no cockpit. Im sad flight died but in the long term its the best thing that could have happened for our hobby because now anyone who is thinking of making a flight sim has a long list of errors made by the flight management to avoid at all costs, not least this ridiculous no cockpit planes fiasco. Flight got me back into FSX and forced to to discover the joys of flying GA aircraft and not just sticking to jets, and for that im very grateful

Flight post mortem.
Hang on! Did this guy really say 'But ultimately this was the right decision for Microsoft' taken from http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/pri-news/joshua-howard-regarding-ms-flight-r493 If so its clear this guy is to blame, I hope the rest of the flight team find a job really soon, but this guy making that kind of comment does not deserve to be a part of any team, ever . That actually got my blood boiling. My post mortem:- Flight was miss managed and lacked direction from a person who clearly was not passionate or competent enough to run this project

MVGibbage a great insight there. Lets hope somehow the code finds its way into the right hands and flight can reach its potential, its not realistic but there is no harm in hoping

The End of Flight?
If your having poor fps/stutters with fsx give this a go, it worked a treat for me... http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html Apart from x-plane/DCS...who else is developing flight sim now?
-
The End of Flight?
I agree and I feel ms flight brought me back to basics somewhat, I am now taking this back to fsx, I appreciate the effort and extra work put into fsx so much more now after seeing the direction flight took. Flight was great fun and I was really looking forward to see it develop more, the flgiht sim market is very thin now, lets hope a brave dev come to fill the void

The End of Flight?
The whole project was so miss-managed and lacked direction. Planes without VC as DLC stalled this project. The lessons here are clear, make a hardcore sim for hardcore simmer or a softcore game, dont try and fit in the middle or you will fail. If you look at us all being excited that they are finally releasing a plane with a VC like it was something special and not standard. If they had opened it up to 3rd party then there might have been a future for flight, now its out of fuel and sadly going down Hope the devs find work soon

The End of Flight?
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-07-26-microsoft-shuts-down-microsoft-flight-development Such a shame, had high hopes for this. Lets just hope they open it up to 3rd party on the way out of the door, if so it could be the best thing to happen to flight but I fear its now grounded. I hope you have learn t some lessons from this Microsoft, ahh hell who am I kidding you made a few $$$$ out of it and probably dont care

How do you get support?
Open the "Computer" window Right-click on the drive in question and click properties Select the "Tools" tab In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now> Sounds like it might be a bad HD. I would back up files you care about, it might be on its way out

Maule crosswind take off and landings
Thanks for the help

Maule crosswind take off and landings
Great Ozzie I think im getting my left and rights confused again re crosswind direction... Basically left ailerons with right rudder and vice versa.
-
Maule crosswind take off and landings
Great Ozzie that is what is confusing me. I have found with a right crosswind I use right rudder and left ailerons (stick/wheel left)
-
Maule crosswind take off and landings
Can someone explain why adding aileron on take off or just after landing makes the rudder far more efficient at keeping the center line in crosswind conditions. If the wind is blowing from right to left I use right rudder and mix in left ailerons as and when needed. Is this a practice that would be used in the real world?

Maule crosswind take off and landings
I agree but sometimes those guys are desperate for that ton of dogs or <insert stupid cargo here> :)

Maule crosswind take off and landings
Right pedal down, stick left

Maule crosswind take off and landings
I've just been practicing take off and landing in the Maule with extreme crosswinds. My problem in the past was often that the cross wind would push me off the runway on take off as the plane becomes 'light' on the ground. I've just realized how useful it is to mix in some ailerons in this situation. If lets say, full right rudder is not keeping you on the center line add full left ailerons and it can save you. Its let me get in and out of many airports that I just could not take off from in the past in a crosswind. The same can be used on landing if you cant keep it on the center line. Getting the timing wrong when you release the sticks can make it kick like, ermm a maule though.

What aircraft do you want to see in Flight; Alaska?
We really need more choice, too many traildraggers at the moment

Need some help, thanks
Emile just show you understand, those keys are unique to yourself and prove you have made a purchase and allows you to use the software you have purchased. By publishing them on an open forum you are effectively 'giving away the keys to you car to strangers' ADMIN REMOVE THREAD ASAP I was temped to steal the p-51 off you, But I have morals...I would never steal a plane that does not have a VC!

Need some help, thanks
Yes its normal, just click the box 'don't show me this again' and then...you wont be shown that message again

Exclamation of the day...
I've never flown a real plane but hope to in the not so distant future. I've been using fsx since day 1 and while I would have to argue that its a more complete simulator in terms of features the feel of flight is great and I have found myself in far more scary situations in flight than I ever did in FSX. Scary situations that I have learned from and would be aware of in the real world, so in that respect I think ms flight can help towards being a better pilot. But obviously nothing comes close to the real thing. I would take a pilot with 10 hours real world experience over a sim user with 100000000 hours any day of the week :)

Flight Planning
Nice flyplan and yes the ingame map really does suck. I dont even look at it anymore other than to start my flight. You should check out Manly Springs airstrip (PAML) I've just flown there, I have pointers turned off and flew past it a few times dismissing it as a street. Fun and challenging place to land.
