Thanks for the clarification on FL180. I saw this very question asked on a flying forum, and a pilot with thousands of hours answered and said FL195, which is why I quoted it. I guess everything you see on the internet isn't true. 😐 As for Canada, this site, which is Canadian flying site, says FL180, so I assumed they were correct.

Hi all - in addition to changing flights from VFR to IFR because of weather, pilots sometimes do it for other reasons. For instance, in the US & CA, VFR flights are limited to FL195. My brother is a retired pilot and would sometimes start off flying low and VFR so we could "tour" an area. Then, when we were ready to fly to our destination, he'd switch to IFR so we could fly up high and be more efficient. I didn't ask him how he made the switch, but I don't think it was a big thing. He may have filed a flight plan beforehand so ATC could just bring it up. As for how to do this in the game, it's not 100% perfect, but I start off as a VFR with no destination set. Once I take off, I contact ATC and request a flight following. I'm able to fly around VFR, maybe having to change frequencies every so often to keep in touch with ATC. Then, when I'm ready to switch to IFR, I go into the MFD/PFD and set my origin & destination airports and add any navaids in between. Then, once I open the ATC menu, the option to choose an IFR flight appears. It sometimes stays forever but sometimes disappears if I switch to another frequency. If I start off the flight by choosing a destination airport from the world map then try to setup an IFR in-flight, it seems to work okay until I switch frequencies. If I have to change frequencies, the option to go IFR never appears. I'd be curious to see what others are doing to get it to work.

I see the same thing... that is clearly a bug in the current Asobo G1000 simulation. I think it's the whole game as I also see it on the G5000 in the Longitude. I believe your theory is right because every runway where I've had problems has an intermediary fix after the FAF. Specifically at KBDL GPS Y RWY 6 and KCXY GPS RWY 8. Approaches without the intermediary fix work perfect.

Earlier I chatted with Xbox Support and was told MS is aware of the problem. As soon as I said what was going on, they knew about it. Apparently someone in their family plays the game and has the problem and asked if they could do anything to fix it. They also said other users have been chatting in and experiencing the same issue.

I agree - something isn't properly triggering the game to let it know people have the "right" access the content. I'm sure it will be fixed soon too. For me, I'm just anxious to play the game. I haven't really played it very much. I got the game on 8/18, but it kept crashing every few minutes. I discovered I had a bad stick of RAM, but now that I can play the game, I'm missing the premium content. 🙂

I formatted my system to clean it up yesterday and that's when the premium content went missing. I'm curious what would have happened if I hadn't formatted. After troubleshooting it, I uninstalled & reinstalled the game a second time. Interestingly, when the game initially launched, the content was visible in the content manager and showing how much space it was taking up. Dreamliner was taking X amount of MB. O'Hare Int'l was taking up X amount of MB. I thought I'd fixed it, but when I went to fly, the planes weren't available. I restarted the game, but this time the content was showing as up to date, but the spot where it show how much space it's taking up was blank.

I know MS fixed the issues with Steam, but there seems to be a bug with the Premium Deluxe version purchased through the MS Store, and I haven't seen any posts about it. I purchased & installed the game fine on 8/18 and had all the planes & airports included in it. Yesterday I decided to refresh my computer and formatted and reinstalled the Premium Deluxe version I purchased, but now I don't have access the the premium stuff. I only have the Standard planes & airports. When I look at the game in My Library on the MS Store, it has a "modify" option for the app. When I click "modify", another window appears that shows I have the premium version consisting of a bundle or 4 programs, the basic FS, the Deluxe & Premium versions & the Digital Ownership. What's weird is, when I click on the icon, it brings up a screen that says those upgrades aren't available. It's almost like it knows I bought them but isn't unlocking them or making them available in the game. It says the only way to get them is with a "redeem code." Is this normal? Is this how it is for others who purchased through the MS Store? I never looked in My Library before because the game worked as intended. While troubleshooting this, I actually reset the game from the "Uninstall" section, which removes all downloaded data (95.1GB + any cached maps & more) but keeps the actual game itself installed. I then completely uninstalled the game and the Digital Ownership app and then reinstalled it. It did the exact same thing. When I look in the content manager, I see the missing planes & airports. They're listed as "Up to Date", but they're not downloaded - the area where the size is displayed is blank for all those items. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I got it James. Basically, the site only shows Enter a local password Confirm your local password until you create your own custom password, and you do that by entering it into those two fields. Because I had never done that and was only using the "I forgot my password" option, the option to enter my current one didn't exist. Once I created one, it now shows CURRENT password NEW password Confirm NEW password It was kind of confusing on the site because until you create a custom password, it says, "You can set a local password here. This will allow you to log in directly to the forums and browse the site from your mobile device. This is optional and will not change how you currently log in." I had no idea what a local password was, and I didn't plan to access anything via mobile, plus because it said it was optional, I never put anything in there, but that's actually where you enter your custom password. Once I entered my custom password in there and waited for the 15 minute lock to go away, I was able to log into the site w/out any problems, and I can change my password now if needed.

Thanks for the reply, Jim, but as noted in the original post up above, there is no option to enter a new password. Our options are: New email address Confirm email address Current password Then below is and option for setting a local password for logging in from a mobile phone, but the description says it's optional and won't change how we currently log in. Enter a local password Confirm your local password Please advise where I would enter a new password that will change how I currently log in to the desktop site. I tried using the set local password option, but the site did not recognize it and locked me out for 15 minutes. This happens for several of us, and the only way we can log in is to have the site generate a new password everytime using the "I forgot my password" option. Thanks.

So yeah, looks like we don't have an option to change our password, so every time I got to log in, I'm going to have to reset my password. That seems like it will add a lot of unnecessary load to the site.

Thank you, Paul, Steve and everyone else who contributed to making DirectX 10 work in FSX. I installed the fixes today along with Addon Converter X, and it works awesome! Everything went smoothly. Thank you. I'm not sure what AffinityMask=xx does, but it wasn't in my original CFG file or in there after installing the fixes, and my frame rates are pretty good. If anything, they're higher after installing than before the patch...if that's possible. If AffinityMask=xx increases frame rates, I will definitely give it a try.

When I tried out DX10 and noticed a HUGE increase in FPS (10+ at busy airports and even higher in less dense areas) I didn't want to go back to DX9.
