  1. They had ALL the reasons to go around. Not only they showed a lack of basic flying skills, insufficient knowledge of technology they were operating, culture based behavior that has no place in cockpit, they also showed absolute lack of judgment and common sense. They can try to blame ATC, auto throttle system, laser beam - whatever they want. I blame them and their airline for risking 300 or more lives.
  2. Did anyone noticed that one of the pilots is blaming an unidentified laser beam / light rendering them blind on the approach? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/07/10/asiana-flight-214-ntsb-pilot-blinded/2507059/
  3. I believe it has nothing to do with PilotEdge client being installed. I also had problems to install SB4 on Win 7 64bit. As for you, installation crashed near the end of the process. I then tried to run the installer as admin (UAC and antivirus turned of) and succeeded.
  4. There is certainly no difference in the fact that you have to watch your speed and reference instruments on approach. They were not stabilized at 1,000 ft so that they had to execute GA while they could. No excuse for such an irresponsible behavior.
  5. OK, they were still in FLCH mode (AP off), which inhibits throttle wake-up and AT did not therefore keep Vref + 5. Because no other mode (ILS inop) kicked in, they successfully stalled the plane. Important lesson to be learned - know your technology before you are about to take 300 people airborne!
  6. This I do not get. Did he fly the visual approach with AP on and AT on in FLCH (MCP altitude below target)? If so, it is so wrong! Correct procedure would be AP off with AT on (controlling speed), MCP altitude re-set for GA one. Managing speed is one of the most important factors in such approach and as Ronan mentioned, if one of the pilots had called "go-around", the PF just had to click TOGA without any questions asked.
  7. This. I was always amazed what kind of lugagge are people allowed to bring aboard, especially on the international / transatlantic flights.
  8. 123kts at 300ft in case it is confirmed is a stall speed for 772. Should not happen with FBW stall protection. Looks like a malfunction of some kind or a terrible lack of flying skills of the PF.
  9. I said no update to VC, however I did like the VC before and do like it in 1.5. I run it with extreme res and the textures look OK to me...
  10. Downloaded, first test flight going on right now. The 300ER addition is nice. Sounds are MUCH better than before, however still not quite there yet. I do not see any visual improvements in VC but the light are improved nicely. So far very stable, all systems function as they are supposed to (LNAV, VNAV, EEC, ...) and it also looks like the assumed temp T/O reduced N1 correctly! Seems to me like good update for $10.
  11. I've bought that "ugly" B377 with COTS package. Looking forward to my first flight with her.
  12. Oh, did not get that. Looks like I go with sarcasm as good as Sheldon does...-
  13. Here is the link Five-by-five mentioned (post #27) in case you haven't found it yet: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=68461&page=3
  14. Wouldn't say it better, the same for me.
  15. Since when is Javier Rollon working on 757? I thought there i one 757 coming this June that is done by Ramzess and Philipp.
  16. Exactly! It was quite a promising plane at first. Each beta or update made it worse and the last 1.3 version is quite a disaster. I still can somehow fly the 1.2 version with custom sounds and Slava cockpit, but the 1.3 is just a programming failure. Screwed Navdata, random CTDs, etc. Very disappointed my Russian friends...
  17. THE best addon deserves this! Fingers crossed...
  18. LOL. Hmm, I was always attracted to those gorgeous older sisters...
  19. I've seen those Youtube videos. I am still not sure if it is better than Maddog... I wish we seen this kind of payware in XP10 one day as well.
  20. I am on the same boat. Have the Maddog and thinking if it is worth to get the DC-9...
  21. Good luck withe the basics! I got the FJS727 and like it a lot. Let us know your experience with the DC-9, I am about to get that one too.
