  1. Of course I'm ignorant. I'm just an average dumb consumer. But that doesn't change the fact that FSX is a dead platform which doesn't have a long term future. Which leaves only XP10 and P3D. PMDG can not survive on the FSX platform forever, right? Besides as for licensing issues, I am encouraged by the following quote "PMDG are currently working with our licensing partners to expand and clarify scope restrictions under our current license agreements..." By the way, I enjoy your video's Kyle, each one makes me a little less ignorant. Liked the the recent weather radar speel. Good stuff B) .
  2. They were realtively benign comments in passing until your stirring here Not really since anyone is elligible to purchase P3d, and every other licence I've bought on FSX has worked on P3D without extra cost. e.g A2A Cessna, Aerosoft Airbus, Active Sky Next, Add-on airports, ORBX, Terrain Mesh add-ons, etc... I'm seeing more and more 3rd party developers coming on board, and since P3D will eventually attract the majority of FSX users in the long term, PMDG will need to price accordingly to compete.

    APU Quicky

Um, been cruising at FL380 in my 777 for 30 minutes and just realised my APU is still running. Oops. My bad. Is that a major in real life or no biggie? In the sim I just turned it off and carried on.
  4. Which ever you buy you won't be disappointed. I'd start with the NG. Hours of fun ahead!
  5. I also got them on the NG but haven't flown the NG enough recently to really tell.
  6. +1 Al Jordan. Keen to hear what's happening with P3Dv2 and the 777 and NG since these two aircraft are the ONLY reason I still have FSX installed. In any case really looking forward to 777 SP1. It sounds like a ton of effort has gone into it. I'm probably going to have to take a week off work when it comes out. Muhahaha )=
  7. I just occurred to me that I haven't had any 777 pauses/freezes in weeks now, if not months. Anyone else?
  8. Hi guys. One thing I've neglected with my simming is upgrading my flight controls. At the moment I just use a standard joystick for taxi/takeoff and landing etc. I've thought about something like a Saitek yoke, but it would set me back $275 NZ dollars. How many of you actually use a yoke? Does it really add to your overall experience or is it just an expensive showpiece? Interested in your thoughts before I give up the cash.
  9. Hey guys cheer up, I actually found this thread an interesting read. And jeez don't panic. Nothing wrong with a bit of niggle here and there.
  10. Oh come on, pay the full price and support our hobby. We want these companies to do well so they will continue to produce great software.
  11. Naaaaw it's legit. They just posted it on April fools to tease us a little. Isn't that right? :Praying:
  12. After just 24 months Win7 had over 40% market share and had exclipsed XP. After 16 months W8 and W8.1 are floundering at 6% and 4% respectively. The much maligned Vista has 3% market share only slightly behind W8.1 (ahahaha) XP is currently at 29.5% The facts speaks for themselves. W8 is the worst operating system ever released by Microsoft and probably one of the worst and most user hostile modern OS's ever released by anyone. I know several people over the last year who have returned PC's that have W8 installed because they consider it unusable. W8 is a giant xxxxx left by the incompetent Ballmer and the sooner it is flushed the better.
  13. I enjoy the 737NG and 777 equally. The attention to detail blows me away and as a software developer myself I find that quite inspiring.
  14. I sorta agree, but the long wait also adds to the suspense and excitement, and then they will start teasing us with the 747v2 for a few months before it comes out. Heh.
  15. THINK dude. If the astute people at PMDG do not recommend W8 because of "too many problems reported (and experienced by some of us on the team)" that statement I would assume is in reference to even recommended FSX install and setup procedure. But if you're not experiencing any problems, then good for you.
  16. For the same reason I shouldn't need such a tool to be able to keep stearing my car propely. Btw why are you complaining to me? You haven't quoted and challenged the PMDG representative once, and they make the decisions. Are you too scared to so instead resort to complaint by proxy? Just curious.
  17. Already stated. Doesn't work. Tried it. But even if it did I shouldn't need to use such a tool. So again you miss the point.
  18. So instead of leveraging off W7 there is instead an attempt to kill off the traditional windows interface, and replace it with Metro - the "modern UI". Made perfect sense didn't it. Oh wait, what is W8's market share now? Only slightly better than Vista last I heard. Ahaha. Beside the point. The fact of just needing to purchase a 3rd party application to keep your joystick working is actually a fatal flaw.
  19. And apparently many users have experienced problems (including me). Which is presumably why PMDG is not officialy supporting it. If you disagree, you should complain to PMDG not me. So?
  20. To all you Monkey Boy Ballmer defenders in here, I'll just repeat what an astute and reputable PMDG representative stated in this very thread. "We are not officially supporting Windows 8/8.1. There's just been too many problems reported ..."
  21. What do you do if you don't want to be forced to buy FSUIPC to make your joystick work?
  22. For staters, try using a joystick or yolk without a registered copy of fsuipc, swap between windows apps, then back to fsx, and let me know how the landing goes. My 737 and 777 would freeze constantly running on that dog of an OS. W8 = miserable failure. Why do you think Ball Boy Ballmer got the boot?
