  1. I used to have gigabit broadband and noticed that the fastest downloads were only up to 500 mbps at best from Microsoft/Xbox/Sony PSN etc. I took a big step back to 200 mbps because it was an excellent deal and found it to be acceptable. I have just however renegotiated and stepped up to 350 mbps when that excellent price doubled. I'm happy with that. I do intend to return to gigabit one day as I did go to the trouble of installing CAT8 and 2.5Gb switch to my man cave.
  2. https://secure.simmarket.com/glowingheat-lockheed-sr-71a-blackbird-fsx-p3d.phtml There is an update offer if you purchased the previous version of the SR-71 or the A-12 Cygnus from SimMarket. "This aircraft was designed primarily with P3D V5.3 in mind and therefore the FSX and P3D V4.5 versions are limited by these platforms nuances. Features: Authentic flight model based around the SR-71 pilots manual Working TEB counters - 16 shots of TEB providing only 16 uses of afterburner per engine - don’t waste them or its a long slow flight home! Features not possible in FSX are the PBR textures, the downward looking Viewsight and Radar display in the RSO (rear) Cockpit. Cockpit 'Dynamic Spotlights' are only available in P3D V5."
  3. One needs a lot of patience with these sims. Hopefully we'll see consistent fluidity sometime later next year. I expect the FPS will always be lower than XP 11. And one by one, the serious bugs will no doubt get addressed. It still hasn't gone gold yet. Advancements are quite slow with XP. Vulkan & VR took over 12 months or more than initially announced in XP 11.
  4. I tried it over London in the default Cessna 172 this morning without any issues entering and exiting VR mode several times. Attached are a few screenies some of which show display settings.
  5. I have an Oculus Rift S. I did update my nVidia drivers last weekend and have been trying DX12 & DLSS. I'll test out VR with DX12 this weekend and get back to you.
  6. It's now the 13th and no sign of it. I'm aware that it's not quite the start of the working day yet on the west coast, so it could pop up in 3 hours possibly.
  7. It does seem to be taking a while. I'm sure if Laminar could be bothered, they could take the trouble to find out the status and expected deployment.
  8. Early Access (Steamworks Documentation) (steamgames.com) Steam Early Access enables you to sell your game on Steam while it is still being developed, and provide context to customers that a product should be considered "unfinished."
  9. With the issue of being completely unable to obtain new hardware this Xmas in both the console and PC markets (the blight of scalpers and their bots), all I could do was to purchase add-ons for flight sims. Orbx benefitted quite well out of that. I wasn't that bothered when the Balearics were released back in the summer but the sale price during Xmas was well worth adding to my XP11 library. As for the Canary Islands, I must have been one of the first people to snap it up on Boxing Day morning. Absolutely can't stop flying around the Islands especially ever since as I would normally be in Lanzarote right now if it weren't for the global pandemic. To conclude, they are both great additions to the X-Plane 11 scenery library and it seems the only way to enjoy the Islands this winter.
  10. I'm set to high (see signature for PC spec) on a 1.1 Gbps broadband connection. I haven't suffered a stutter so far and its really fluid. I did decide that I wasn't happy with London so I purchased the Orbx City Pack and City Airport. Really pleased as London looks far better so worth it but it does need some further work which Orbx have responded positively to. Ive also checked out Ibiza, Lanzarote, Las Vegas, LA, NYC & Cuba. I've never seen anything look and perform so well out of the box figuratively speaking. Stunned by Manhattan (absolutely no hit on performance) and Las Vegas.
  11. I've since learned that the download is 90GB in size. I checked out https://downloadtimecalculator.com/ Over a 1 Gbps broadband connection, it estimates 90GB will take 12 min 53 sec. TBH, i'll be happy if it is less than an hour. When i plugged in the figures for a 2 Mbps connection which I had once and know some people in more remote locations still have, it works out at 4 days 11 hours 22 min 27 sec.
  12. I was wondering if it was going to be deployed before Tuesday to preload like new Steam games tend to? It would then just need to unpack on Tuesday. I've checked out my HDDs and can't see that has occurred yet.
  13. The city of Havana is now available for X-Plane 11 with the intention of bringing José Martí International Airport and other cities should the interest demand. https://store.x-plane.org/La-Havana-City-_p_1167.html
