OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version: 1511, build 10586.164 P3D version: 3.2.3.16769 Professional (client and content, scenery is on 3.0.10.14945) I have just experienced a P3D crash on menus.dll whilst on approach into Gardermoen in the PMDG 737-800. I clicked on the PFD then had a short delay in the sim (hanging) after which I got the below error and a resultant crash of P3D when clicking on "Close Program": Previously in the same flight I've displayed the PFD pop-up without issue multiple times (whilst on the ground at EPWA and while in cruise). Right, so looks like you're buying P3D v3.0 today, EGLD Flew from EGSS to EGLL right over Stratford and past Canary Wharf to intercept the localiser for 27L. Had 391MB free VAS on rollout. During the approach I panned around and switched views as well to try and make it OOM. I reduced settings slightly - see here for the settings and VAS during the flight: https://imgur.com/a/yceX1 This is with PMDG 737-800NGX (Ryanair livery) FTX Global in hybrid mode with Vector (see my reduced Vector settings to prevent OOM), FTX England and FTX Scotland active. ActiveskyNext with 10 cloud layers, REX4 (see settings in the album above), UK2000 EGLL demo and UK2000 EGSS (full version).

Okay, so I just OOMed on approach to UK2000 EGLL 27L in the 737NGX - about 6nm west of Dartford to be exact. I installed Heathrow with Extreme settings and all my scenery sliders are maxed. I'll play around with the settings to see if I can make a landing without an OOM.

I don't have any EGLL scenery yet purely because I knew I'd OOM in 2.5. In fact I've held off on buying a lot of addon scenery due to that issue. 3.0 now opens up the door to allow a more rounded airport scenery experience. I'll install the eval of UK2000 EGLL now and let you know whether or not I OOM I'll do a short hop from UK2000 EGSS to EGLL in the NGX with FTX England enabled.

Early days or not I now have a like-for-like setup in terms of add-ons and the VAS and FPS difference is notable. I realise that I may be trailblazing here but so far in V3 I have installed (through tricking the installers thinking that 3.0 is actually 2.5): ORBX FTX Global ORBX FTX Vector (can't do an auto-scan of elevations in the utility) ORBX FTX OpenLC Europe ORBX FTX England ORBX FTX Scotland ORBX FTX Trees HD FreeMeshX FSUIPC GSX PMDG 777-200 and 300 FS2Crew 777 voice edition PMDG 737NGX Majestic Q400 Aerosoft A318/19/20/21 ASN REX4 TD + Soft Clouds PrecipitFX Taxi2Gate Doha FlyTampa Dubai UK2000 Edinburgh Extreme UK2000 Stansted Extreme And even with all of this enabled I don't OOM in scenarios in 3.0 where I have guaranteed OOMs in 2.5. I'm doing more tests this weekend but so far it looks like a good gig with a dedicated 3.0 setup.

Yep I dumped 2.5 as well and went all in on 3.0. I did a comparison flight in 3.0 this morning between T2G OTHH and FT OMDB in the PMDG 777-200LR that normally resulted in an OOM for me in 2.5. No OOM even overflying DXB twice (The arrival takes you past the airport and back in from the south). This is with even more aggressive display settings than I ever had in 2.5 (all sliders maxed basically) with tons of 3rd party add-ons. 3.0 is definitely worth it for me. Cheers Daniel

Ok so colour me impressed! Just completed a run of T2G OTHH to FT OMDB in the PMDG 777-200LR with FS2Crew. All settings maxed (no AI traffic) with ASN and FTX Global + Vector enabled (for all road types and objects), FreeMeshX (not really relevant for this area) and GSX. I started off at OTHH with around 700MB free VAS. During takeoff it dropped to 470MB as the city of Doha loaded in but quickly recovered during the short cruise to around 670MB where it stayed. On approach into DXB (DESDI8D for 30R) I overflew the airport from the coast and turned around back to approach from the south. I would normally OOM when approaching the coast with FlyTampa Dubai installed in 2.5. Not so here. Overflying the airport I had around 450MB of free VAS but this quickly dropped to 270MB after passing the airport for some bizarre reason but jumped back up to 470MB at the turning point in the STAR to align with 30R. Final free VAS at the gate was 360MB. Now bear in mind this is with max LOD, scenery complexity at max, autogen at max and a full FTX Vector setup with ASN, REX4 textures (granted my REX textures are 1024/512 and DXT where possible). This is a total game changer for me - and I still have room to bring down the LOD and other settings if required. Next run will be UK2000 EGSS - EGPH over FTX England and FTX Scotland.

Don't ask me how but through some clever registry "hacks" and symlinks I've managed to get all of the above installed and working together in P3Dv3 =) I'd strongly advise you wait until the developers release official versions but I need to perform some VAS testing this weekend and got "creative" in order to get my sim loaded up with my usual add-ons. What is fantastic is the fact that I don't see the usual popcorn clouds that I had in 2.5 nor any texture blurries. I slewed around in this view and ground textures did get slightly blurry but very quickly popped back into hi-res versions of themselves. In 2.5 this would take minutes and sometimes would never recover. This is with all sliders to the right and these shots are unedited and the prepar3d.cfg is stock.
