  1. No, there's no cloud turbulence in MSFS default. 100%. Or did you mean 2024? Of course it's possible to have turbulence within clouds in MSFS default, but that's caused by winds or terrain in those cases. There's no native cloud turbulence in MSFS 2020.
  2. Well yes, it's injected globally but obviously the global injection changes with the location. Just like in P3D. Someone else can probably explain that better than me.
  3. Not sure what you mean. But AS works the same as in P3D and XPL as in injecting a local weather globally. As for the "disc" - I see no disc, weather goes up to the horizon everywhere at crusie.
  4. That's great to hear! I mean sorry for your C172, of course 😉 How much was the distance to the A320? Right behind the engines or the typical 3 NM separation?
  5. Of course, why not? Weather has nothing to do with what AutoFPS does. AutoFPS does change cloud quality, but that's a graphics setting and has nothing to do with the actual weather.
  6. As always: It depends 🙂 I'd say it's worth it if... 1) You want historical weather or 2) You're tired of the same old cloud types in default MSFS or 3) you want "active air effects" (4 typesof turbulences, thermals etc.) or 4) You want to see (thunder)storms depicted correctly or 5) You want weather that's to the point correct to any real life METAR (live or historical), especially important for IFR flights and 6) You can live with the fact that you will not see distant weather fronts anymore (as in MSFS default), because AS injects globally
  7. Looks absolutely fantastic. And is probably going to kill my PC.
  8. Just noticed "wake turbulence" as a setting - does that really create wake turbulence from AI aircraft (or VATSIM aircraft)? Even depending on the type of aircraft (heavy etc.)? That would be awesome!
  9. If you care to have the most recent live weather, you can reduce the download interval to 15 minutes. It will mean more often transitions, though. So you might want to keep an eye on the transition depiction speed (potentially lowering it if you start "noticing" them).
  10. No. I've only done one flight so far, but no performance impact. I've seen some very short occasional stutters during this flight, could be AS injecting weather, or could have been the urban area of Sao Paolo (which has a bazillion of buildings) slowly loading in. Since the weather visuals are MSFS technology, performance impact should be the same or even better for AS (since MSFS default always creates those high performance impact volcanic ash clouds all the time...).
  11. No, they are built up within visual sight. That's what transitions are for, so you don't notice them building up within your sight. In other words: If a new weather is detected by AS, it will slowly transition the current scene to the new weather scene. Beyond visual range is only possible with MSFS default live weather, because they have a local weather model.
  12. Hm strange. No stability issues for me at all.
  13. Of course they are. Many overcasts look exactly like this. I am seeing one right here outside the window. It looks like P3D outside of my window, if you will. Again, you will see different types of clouds and overcasts at different times. You're just too much used to how MSFS depicts clouds all the time. AS can and will do that too (saw it on yesterday's flight, big voluminous clouds), but not always and everywhere.
  14. That's likely with a very high transition setting. It took 10 seconds. With lower transition speeds it takes 1 to 10 minutes (as you like). I've set it to about 5 minutes, so it changes over 5 minutes. I have not noticed one single morphing/appearing/disappearing on yesterdays flight with it, certainly no popping. And mind you I *was* actively looking for it!
  15. There's an option to minimize directly to the tray instead of the taskbar. I mean, one would have known had he took one minute to look at the settings or read the manual...
  16. You're not even looking from the same angle when you compare those. Of course clouds do look different from below, above or right in the middle of them! You need to compare the same angle, same position, same perspective between the three of them. Also whether clouds "look" better is not the same as whether they are more realistic. The clouds themselves (visuals, textures etc.) are always the same - MSFS technology. The *types* of clouds are however generated differently. While MSFS default will always show you unrealistic volcanic ash clouds, AS will show a great variety of types. And yes, some overcasts look boring in real life too.
  17. Huh? There's no AS in the toolbar. At least on my side. It's an external app, like FSLTL or AIG.
  18. It should be possible to feed BeyondATC with the AS weather data. Right now it most likely just gets it from NOAA, but the technical stuff is identical. Another ATC tool (P2ATC) already works with AS (taking the AS weather data for ATC), it's incredibly simple to make it work. But it depends on the BATC devs, because they'll have to add that ability. It will depend on the sales of AS, I suppose.
  19. Short question - are the other transitions speeds also slowed down realative to that or is only the 50% setting affected? I have it set on 25% because I like slower transitions. Wondering if it will be too slow now and I should return back to 50% with the beta.
  20. It works, already tried. Procedure just like with P3D back in the days
  21. I think he means if the METAR changes after 15 minutes but the interval is set to 30 minutes, the in-game weather will only change after 30 minutes (when the intervall is due).
  22. What did I miss? I thought "Active Air effects" is turbulence (and drafts etc.).
  23. So did my first flight with historical weather. Who would've thought I'd ever see 17 degrees celsius in Brazil in MSFS 😄 (when I fly it's always high noon over there). Really great feeling. At my destination Sao Paolo - Congonhas (GREAT scenery by PauloRicardo, 100% recommended) I switched over to live weather and compared AS live weather with MSFS live weather and then with a live webcam from the airport. AS cloud depiction was much closer to reality. MSFS showed almost no clouds, just some kind of fog. AS showed broken clouds. METAR is 6000 BKN010. In the webcam it was non-foggy but very cloudy.
  24. No, you can't. Minimum is 20% unfortunately. It does not accept 0%.
