June 23, 200322 yr Ryan, I gotta agree with Robert here. Joel still has not released SB3 and is still coding that program. On the flip side of the coin, Robert and the guys are halfway through beta on the 600/700. Let's let each developer get both these products out so we can use them. Stuff like this can be addressed at a later time. Your idea is good, but I just think the timing is not right for it. I don't know if you know this Ryan but from what I have read in other forums, the current version of SB is not compatiable with FS2004 so for those buying FS2004 right away, they will not be able to use VATSIM till SB3 comes out, i.e., the need to let Joel get the programing done on it pronto. Just my opinion anyway. Eric
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Eric-Oh...I feel for Joel. I know EXACTLY how he feels....yep... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
June 23, 200322 yr Ok Folks, I apologise. I didnt realise that you will be creating a fully functional TCAS and not just a map of local AI.That is what you are creating right? Correct me if I'm wrong...Your TCAS will have the features to tell the pilot which way to turn to avoid a collision like in reality??Coool! :9 Johnhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk 710Hours ;)P 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Robert,I wasn't suggesting you guys add the VATSIM thing right now - I assumed it would be at the 800/900 stage or after... "VATSIM Enabled" is a term I just made up lol - from what I was reading, Joel is programming SB3 to build TCAS tables from the online traffic - I'm not sure what that means though, maybe it's just going to populate the usual tables that all the other TCAS gauges use in conjunction with AI Bridge, in which case, there's nothing you guys would have to do anyway... I agree too that having Joel finish SB3 so we can take FS2004 (and the NG) online is a MUCH higher priority than this kind of stuff... Don't mind me, just throwing random ideas around!Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member John,TCAS is not able to give lateral commands (turns), its all about climbing or descending. But normaly this is good enough, as long as BOTH pilots do what TCAS says and displays...Best regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
June 24, 200322 yr Markus, Thanks for clearing that up but you got the general drift.I've read the FSUIPC and FS2002 SDK's(Studying C++) and implementing these wouldnt be that difficult as the VS,Alt and position of the AI aircraft are available and its a simple matter of comparing...My question, which is still unanswered, will this feature be implemented in the 737NG and yet again(I'm sue) raise the standard as this feature hasnt been implemented in ANY addon to date.John
June 24, 200322 yr It's odd how you keep saying how you think it would not be all that difficult. It would make more sense to me if you have programmed one yourself, heck just setting a certain panel the way you would like viewed can be difficult! I think Robert answered your question, they are EXPLORING this, yes they can make a display with craft showing etc, but would rather have the real deal if possible which includes items already mentioned. June 24, 200322 yr Randy, I keep saying it because it's true. Time commitments, and insufficient graphics programming knowledge are the sole reason I am not making one myself. Considering PMDG are going to be charging for these little extra features, I wanta make sure a fully funtional TCAS is included.RegardsJohnhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk 710Hours ;)P 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 24, 200322 yr Commercial Member John-As the programmer responsible for eventually coding a TCAS on our 737, I assure you that when Microsoft releases adequate information on their AI structures, it will become available.I am NOT going to rely on FSUIPC-provided data, as it comes too sparsely to make it realistic.I am putting an end to this topic right now. I want to thank you for making sure we know what's important to you, but at this moment, TCAS will not be in our 600/700 release.I hope you understand. June 24, 200322 yr Appreciate the response and explanation. I'll support ye guys no matter what. I was only questioning the logic }(RegardsJohnhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk 650Hours ;)P 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 25, 200322 yr Not sure if this question has been answered before but would I be right in saying that the ND will feature TCAS as a standard? Will we be able to control the mode of TCAS via the transponder or is this form of control not available as an option on the NG series.IF its been modeled will we need to run AI Bridge for VATSIM traffic to show up or has the TCAS had this feature built in (which might I add would be a great feature!!)Must start using the CBT to read up on the NG now i think :) I can feel a release coming soon (well...prays anyhow :-lol)Thanks guysLiam
