July 3, 200322 yr I have been a great admirer of PMDG and have bought all their Fly and FlyII products. I made the switch to FS2002 when I read that PMDG would be support FS2002. In the interim I purchased Dreamfleet 737 and have flown this aircraft for many hours on VATSIM. I download and installed 737NG without any problems. Before I started flying I read the messages in the forum to ensure I was up to date and ready to fly. I set up a flight from KLAX to KLAS once again no problem with programming the FMC. Set of down the runway and my framerate dropped from 22fps to 5fps. I jerked down the runway and was airborne. I switch views a couple of time (I was only using 2D cockpit) and the frame rate improved. I set off for KLAS. During the flight I noticed that the outside view was a least 10fps less than the internal cockpit view. Just on the outskirts of KLAS descending to 6000 the framerate dropped to 6-8fps and the sound became scratchy. This continuing all the way to final touch down.Observations.I have never had this problem with Dreamfleet or PSS Airbus. (Average frame rate in all conditions 25fpsI am initial reaction to PMDG 737NG is VERY disappointed. (Never had this problem with the Fly products)System specs: P4 2.53Ghz 512 DDR 333 NVIDIA TI4600 UltraI hope they fix the problem in the meantime I am moving back to Dreamfleet 737Regards,Andrew.;(

July 3, 200322 yr Moderator Andrew,Have you read my solution to this problem with 2D panels? Low Frame Rates - problem resolved on my system. July 3, 200322 yr Ryan,Don't even think about it... PMDG needs to fix this bird first. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
July 3, 200322 yr Andrew,I have a new Dell 8300 2.6gig processor with an ATI Radeon9700pro video card. Your suggestion is something I had in place long before PMDG's 737 became available. I'm sorry to report that your memory suggestion has had no effect on performance on my machine at all, framerates are still horrible and I've stopped flying this plane because of it. Really hope they fix this thing because there's not a chance in hell I'm going to try to run this package in FS2004...Thanks for the effort Andrew, maybe your solution will help others with similar configurations as yours. Until a fix is found, my new machine doesn FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
July 3, 200322 yr Hello,I beg to differ. The NG is NOT a frame killer. The VC suffers some problems that lead to very very low frames, but it will be taken care of.I only use the 2D panel for flying, and my findings are that it's very frame friendly.I recently upgraded to a AXP2600+ (2.08GHz). Previously I had the AXP2000+ (same as Ryan here, 1.67 GHz), and noticed almost NO difference in FPS due to the upgrade. (3-4)To say that someone with an AXP2000+ and half a gig of RAM would have trouble with the NG is just plain wrong.Yes I know that he has the MX and I have the Ti-4200, but still. It will run perfectly fine, and you don't need to have all the sliders maxed out all the time. I much prefer smoothness of operation to a couple of ridiculous autogen buildings or a hill that's 10 meters higher than with 50% mesh.Ryan, go ahead and buy!Tero, not the devil's advocate ;) PPL(A)
July 3, 200322 yr I have Dell 2.53g,512mb RDRAM, ati9700TX, i'm getting no fps drop at all vs default aircarft!! Mine is locked at 34fps. PMDG plane is perfect! The only one that is realsitically hand flyable. In the virtual cockpit I got 15-28fp. Don't care about the v/c as I have real 737 cokpit i sit in to fly my sim so i'm a little biased. :)Update drivers, I run dx9.0, overclocked video card helps to.Rob
July 3, 200322 yr Andrew,Obviously this is not an issue with the panel being a frame hog. Something's amiss there, because I have a slower system and still get solid 30 FPS almost everywhere. Sliders almost maxed out, and 1280*960.My specs:AXP2600+ (2.08GHz)1 GB Kingston Value RAM 333MHz DDRGainward Geforce 4 Ti-4200 64MBChaintech Apogee nForce2 chipsetlatest detonator driversFramerates locked at 35FPS, getting ~ 20-25 FPS at FISD EFHK which _is_ a frame hog!I wonder why almost everytime the systems with these very weird frame symptoms are Intel Pentium based. Scroll back to other developer's releases, and almost everytime the "I'm getting 2 FPS with my monster PC" -complaints come from Intel people. Tero PPL(A)
July 3, 200322 yr Frame Rates Frame RatesI have a Dell 8250, P4 2.56mhz, 1GB Ram with a Radeon 9700 PRO 128mb.This aircraft is SMOOTH as SILKSMOOTH AS SILKSMOOTH AS SILKMy settings are the default settings that MSFS gives you out of the box, with the exception of AI a/c, which i have turned up a bit so TCAS is not so dull. When I installed MSFS on this machine it locked the frames at 30 ..I ask this:Are you seeing stuttering all the time, ALL THE TIME? or just a stutter or two as FS-Meteo is updating or something like that.My sense of all of this is that you should NOT be looking at the FPS counter, but FLYING THE AIRCRAFT. Remember, it's the magician, not the size of the wand ... hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha!Good Grief! Enjoy what you have and have fun!
July 3, 200322 yr Moderator dilloll0 (real name?),Are you replying to me or to Andrew? It was I who suggested increasing the page file which will resolve the problem of low frame rates with the 2D panel.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 3, 200322 yr Moderator Paul,Presumably your page file settings are those that shipped with the PC in which case Windows will be managing the page file which is why you are not having poor frame rate problems. For anyone who has a fixed size page file it needs to be 800Mb minimum for those with 512Mb RAM. More is better.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 3, 200322 yr If you like a complete package that works well on your system, don't buy. If you happen to love VC's don't buy (the VC in this 737 is awesome and watching it bring your framerates down as much as it does kills the enjoyment). I'm not saying don't by the plane at all, just wait until the bugs are worked out... July 3, 200322 yr For those of us that don't have home built cockpits, the enjoyment is lost for VC fans. I like the way PMDG rendered the VC but it makes FS2k2 run like crap on my machine... July 3, 200322 yr Paul stuttering happens for me in the 2D panel when I'm in a turn. Like others have mentioned, once you use the VC in flight the 2D panel starts to run like crap (framerates down from 2-27 to 6-7). Since this package contains both cockpit options, I have to have them both working properly if I've paid 40$ for this thing. Now I know PMDG is looking into this and I don't have a problem waiting until the patch is available but I'm just reporting my findings. July 3, 200322 yr Ray,I was replying to you because I have 1gig of SDRAM in a 2.6gig machine with an ATI Radeon 9700pro 128meg video card.
