High Humidity Water Condensation on Aircraft

Featured Replies

I read this with a smile, but guys with all the fuss that is on THIS forum about SU-2, lets get this done and out the door.Maybe the PMDG team will consider this for their 800-900 versions, it is cool, but wathcing vapor coming from the engines is NOT one of my biggies as a pilot. As you know, there is nothing but problems with the Airbus's, so there are many things the PMDG team has to get done. Lets let them get it done.CheersBob Johnson

The ACS MD11 Panel:http://www.acsoft.ch/Flight_Simulator/ACS-...md11-panel.htmlUses the default GPS or the ACS GPS which was so revolutionary in FS98.Bill Grabowski is also working on a Freeware MD11 panel that will have a functional FMC. He's currently working on the FMC.

They incorporate>water condensation on low pressure areas of the airframe (i.e.>Engine inlets and off of flaps and winglets.) Yes the vapour trail effects would be very nice as well.David Di DomizioMBAsus A7V8X-X 400FSB + AMDXP2000512 MB DDR PC2700FX5600ultra 128 DDRSoundblasterliveWindows XP Pro

Paul,Can I ask you where you found that Shamu repaint? I've searched without success.Thx.

Captains, let me address the flew wing on our 737. Vin, our modeler, has stated that to do a proper flexwing for our 737NG would drive the polygon count up, rendering our NG to slideshow framerates. As for the vapor and condensation effects, these are I believe based on FS smoke effects and as such we're already maxed out on the number available in FS on our NG. Vin might have a different view on this, so I'll go bug him about it.

Flex wings will never happen on the 737NG. In reality, the wing flexing on the NG is not perceptable on take off, and the way that others have implemented wing flex in MSFS is simply not convincing. Simply having the wings bend up as the gear leaves the ground just isn't realistic. If it can't be done properly (linked to a g-force variable and a air turbulence variable) we will not model it at all. Smoke effects? Maybe.. I've been eyeballing some airliners.net pics myself some weeks ago wondering what we could squeeze into the 800/900 release. Of course, if we are unable to figure out how to make these effects happen under the proper conditions, it won't happen. We'll see.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif

Hi Vin,I suppose you could reproduce the effects only when the humidity in the air was great...like building thunderstorms or rainy/foggy conditions. I think, when the dewpoint-temp spread is not very great, the lower pressure at wings, inlets and control surfaces causes the temperature to drop to the dewpoint where the water in the air condeses and forms the vapor effects. I should think you could have the "smoke" effects generated when the weather represents alot of moisture in the air.Shane LewisAtlanta

Hi Vapor trails sound like a great idea to me.Ted

Hi Vin, when you say smoke effects...maybe, do you mean that engine intake and outake effects could be implemented in SU3?I haven't got an answer before in my prvious post, maybe because I've spelled outake wrong...Hah Hah...:-) I've also seen some nice pics of outake effects, it would be nice to see them on your 737NG masterpiece.Take care,DavidAsus A7V8X-X 400FSB512 DDR PC 2700GF FX 5600 ultraSB Live! Hi PMDG team,Will you re-work the LE flaps with the -800/900?Here's a shot of wing-flex in action;http://www.airliners.net/open.file/467519/M/Nice and subtle, looks to twist slightly too. I believe some modellers link wing-flex to nose wheel compression like the MelJet 777 and that looks amazing! Paul

I had the PSS aircraft and only ever saw the effect once without "trying" to get the right conditions. The vapour trails did however look pretty impressive and I understand these are "Hard coded" together with the strobes which are more intime than they normaly are. It would, I agree, be nice to see on forthcoming aircraft. BTW, have not PSS withdrawn their aircraft because of lots of troubles. Never did like them as much as PMDG ones anyway. One can fly a 737, One clicks switches with the A320 series :)

Am I the only one too busy flying from the front office to see vapor trails on take-off and landing anyways?

Oh I think there is no question the PMDG is a way better aircraft, even incomparably so, and sure most serious pilots are going to be flying during those phases of flight as do I, but if other companies are doing it, it would be just another, seemingly simple addition to make it even more "king of the mountain". After all, we are going for realism. Sometimies after a good flight and landing, I'll go back and look at it from a passenger's perspective and it gives a different angle on the flight. From the times I were a passenger on these nifty airplanes, I've seen the vapor trails when conditions were right, and found them intriguing. So it would be neat to see them in the PMDG aircraft as well. But more than anything, it would kind of give a middle viewpoint between the wingview and the sky/ground background. Sometimes, it looks as if it is a bitmap pasted over a bitmap....which it is I suppose....but a vapor trail would kind of give you that extra something in that field of view showing you where the wing is actually interacting with its environment, and a middle viewpoint between the wing up close and the background far away, sort of some middle ground to give you an enhanced visual perspective. And obviously it wouldn't be there all the time. Hey I know its petty, and there are greater priorities; but, anyone have an idea of what I'm saying..or maybe I'm just nuts.Happy flights to all,Shane LewisAtlanta, GA

may i add something else here...all of you who own the PMDG 737 know that you can change colors fot the PFD/MCP, wouldn't it be nice if you could change the dial color of the FMC Display Unit? From white to green let's say. (assuming such an option does not exist, I haven't really changed my PFD colours lately... wouldn't like to invert sky with ground there, would I?!! :D ) Just a small suggestion! :)
