August 30, 200421 yr Is there going to be a weather gage on the 744? I havn't seen anything about this so I figured I would ask. I hope that you guys can perfect it so that it can be added to the 737 BBJ :) ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
August 30, 200421 yr You and me both! I have not heard a word about it but that pretty much goes for everything else. I am crossing my fingers...Best Wishes,
Randy J. August 30, 200421 yr ThomasThis may come as a surprise for you. But Randy has never been a member of the core team! He is just a very active and devoted beta test pilot! I can assure you though, that he's still on the betat team! ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
August 30, 200421 yr I personally would love to see it implemented. It would add that little bit extra to the package. I've got more info if its needed!lolhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/89629.jpgKeep up the great work guys!P.S - Marc did you get my e-mail?Regards,

August 31, 200421 yr personally...until MS provides a reason to avoid wx, I say let's save the CPU cycles for somthing else. CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

September 1, 200421 yr "until MS provides a reason to avoid wx, I say let's save the CPU cycles for somthing else."The reason to avoid bad WX is obvious, to simulate reality. If an aircraft has bad wx ahead, the pilot will deviate from course to avoid the weather. It'd be nice to have this option on the 744- and besides, you dont have to use it.John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
September 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-(once again)until and unless MS provides developers with specific information (via their SDK) on how to access weather information (and I mean cloud/rain/ice locations with lat/lon etc.), we will choose not to provide you with an inaccurate image of "would-be" or "make-believe" weather, like other add-ons do.The only one I have seen worth its salt is RealityXP's add-on weather gauge, but it's based on proprietary engineering which has taken months of development just for one gauge - thus it's sold separately. We have no such time luxury in our hands to sit and reverse-engineer the entire FS9 weather pattern data structures. Also, doing such would break compatibility with future versions of MSFS, which would be impractical as well - we tend to follow the SDKs as much as possible, to avoid having to rewrite all our software when new MSFS versions come out.Hope this explains things! September 1, 200421 yr good choice, please dont put it in yet - wait till things develope better on the MS WX front. This is just another flashfire, they spring up every now and again. Remember the big push for 'windsheild wipers', suddenly everyone had to have one (no one uses it and it does not do anything). Even more recently, the IRS system - I will be happy when that one goes to sleep!again, just my opinion. Even more recently, the IRS system - I will>be happy when that one goes to sleep!Mike,This is not just a recent push this is something that alot of us that have had the TNG since the day it first came out have been asking for. It is an item that Lefteris had said he would create if he could do it correctly but I had not seen a particular response as to the fact that it would not be done. Hence people like myself and Randy have been patiently waiting, and with the upcomming 744 it was hoped that they would be able to create this great feature. Just because your computer can't handle it dose not mean that it should not be developed. In my opinion PMDG should not worry about what minimum specs to run the plane due to the simple fact that if you want it to look good you can or if your system can't handle it then simply don't push the WX button. Lefteris,Thank you for the reply and I do understand your situation. I would have to agree that if you were to make a separate addon I know that with your expertise it would be great and that it would sell like hotcakes. I appriciate all the hard work that you guys put in to these aircraft and I am eagerly awaiting the Queen. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
September 2, 200421 yr I agree that it could be an addon to itself, the better question questions would be, would it sell enough to make the devlopement worth it and what happens in the next FS version when the code needs a MAJOR rewrite? To tell you the truth, I would be happy with fake weather data simply BECAUSE the weather you are avoiding does NOT do anything to your aircraft anyway ;-). And if the code changes like it did from 2002 to 2004 we might not see the 744-737 in those newer versions so why not have what FS is capeable of producing at the present? How many would be happy with that? I KNOW I would! Gonna happen? Probably not...Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution!
