November 23, 200421 yr I know it's not usually a done thing these days by developers to give out release dates and such like, but it's been quite a while since I heard anything about the pending release of the 747, and a while since any new screenshots came out.I'm not asking for a fixed release date, just an update on where it's currently at with development, and maybe one or two new screen shots. From some of the talk in the forum, I'm assuming it hasn't even gone to the beta testers yet. Thanks for any info.-Phil Phil Brown
November 23, 200421 yr G'Day mateIt will be quite a while before this plane reaches BETA testing I believe. This addon is very detailed and that doesnt come quickly, or cheaply. We have to be patient and realize that they are very busy and dont have a great deal of time to make development screenshots. I dont mean to sound rude or anything. That wasnt my intention :) Cheers,RyanProfessional Coffee Drinker/BAe146 DriverAircraft Maintenance Engineer
November 23, 200421 yr Well I would not say "quite awhile" but it is true it has not reached beta stage yet and for very good reasons ;DBest Wishes,[h4]Randy J. November 23, 200421 yr The development team did say they would be releasing screenshots of the 744 around the end of november.Denis Allen
November 23, 200421 yr Hi Randy,Would love to know what the development show stoppers are!Im presuming various "battles" going on to leave in/out major functionality at release, like radar? Or is it more to do with ironing out issues, which just need attention.Any insider info would be greatly appreciated, I have $10,000 on radar being left out till SU1. :-lolArmen at EGLLwww.veryquiet.com Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer
November 23, 200421 yr Commercial Member There's going to be some new information about the 747-400 at the FS Show in Birmingham, England this Saturday. (I am thinking at least a couple new screenshots will be displayed).Best, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
November 23, 200421 yr That would be nice...by the way call Microsoft & tell them to make FS2006 PMDG-compatible 'cause it would be a waste of all the work otherwise Greets,Jeroen:P
November 23, 200421 yr Very nice Lefteris! Will look forward to the new info... will you guys have a stand at Birmingham ?btw is it a real aircraft convention or a simmers get together ?!Armen at EGLLwww.veryquiet.com Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer
November 24, 200421 yr Commercial Member You can read all about the FS Show at www.fs-show.comI'll be hanging out at the Aerosoft stand, with the publishers of our boxed products. Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
November 24, 200421 yr Is there a way to contact the MSFS dev team? There are ceratinly some things that need to be addressed in MSFS:1) Ground physics2) Wx Radar3) Requestable Runways(T/O and Landing) and SIDs/STARs/Approaches4) An extra decimal point or two in the flight physics computations.5) X-wind and weather vane effects6) Multi-towered airport operations(KOAK north and south field)7) and finally...whatever PMDG asks for!Honestly PMDG is by far the biggest reason why I bought MSFS.
November 24, 200421 yr 2) Wx Radar This is already possible to an extent, I would be very suprised if you see a well made weather radar as standard equipment in an add-on without the price reflecting the costs in developing this one area alone...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. November 24, 200421 yr Dreamfleet is shipping RealityXP's weather radar with their upcoming 727 package for $35USD.
November 24, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-I understand the general desire for WX radar. Let me try to clarify again why we're not planning on including one, as things stand currently:We will only do one if and only if Microsoft (or FSUIPC) provides enough information for 3d cloud precipitation (with positions/locations).We could choose to hack our way through, but this would break compatibility with any and all FS updates in the future, so we elect not to spend the time necessary in doing so, only to have to redo it next version. Also, keep in mind that cloud locations in MSFS are only valid if the user allows for 100% 3d cloud drawing, otherwise the realism is lost completely. Please send emails to Microsoft to produce information on their clouds - when that happens, we'll happily accomodate. November 24, 200421 yr The problem with the RealityXP radar is that the WX radar on the 744 is integrated into the ND display. You'd lose some SERIOUSLY important information if you swap that out.I know I have a tendency to stir things up, but- not even PS1 has a great weather radar. Personally, there are many other areas I'd like to see first, like good systems and failures. Given, on a 10000+ mile flight the only thing things to look forward to are changing the fuel config, and dodging some nice big storm clouds, but still, do want to double the development time by trying to add everything? I'm sure that there will be a nice big update for FS2006, that if the FS gods are willing, will allow PMDG to give us a weather/terrain radar.
November 24, 200421 yr So is there any info on Dev progress? How long has it been since the 747 announcment? With that in mind, approximatly how long until my beloved MD-11 is released? Is it so far away that I might as well buy the 737s now?
