September 1, 200223 yr Hi Jim!I tried to figure those coordinates out last night. Best I could do was guess and that aint good enough. Perhaps I can score that information from one of the Portugal control guys. Will post it back here if I run it down.

September 1, 200223 yr OK, I did some guessing but it worked out fairly well so I was able to complete the VOR visual to runway 5.Here's how I set up the FMC:I entered per flight plan: GANSU-NARTA-GALPA-RULET-SNTI then entered a SNT263/FUN033 place/radial fix to follow the SNT263 radial until intersecting the FUN213 radial inbound.Next I entered the FUNOR IAP with an altitude restriction of 3000 ft.Next the FUN VOR at 3000 ftThen a bearing/distance waypoint FUN213/3.6 with altitude 1140 ftThen another bearing distance waypoint FUN213/6.0 at 1140 ft.I then guessed the LAT/LONG coordinates for GELO and ROSARIO; for GELO (850 ft.)I used N3240.0W01648.5 and N3240.8W01647.8 for ROSARIO (460 ft.)If anyone has the exact coordinates I'd be happy to have them. I suppose I could add a pseudo-waypoint after FUN02 to force the aircraft to flyover FUN02.
September 1, 200223 yr Trying to guess those w'pts is difficult because looking at the charts both the distance from the rwy end to MAP 05 and from FUN DME6.0 to GELO do not appear to be perpendicular to the 213 Radial. However the position of GELO & ROSARIO I made in FSNav are not too far off from yours Stiffy, and for interest the bearing fixes areGELO FUN R-231 DME 7.6ROSARIO FUN R-238 DME 6.3One caveat, I have positioned ROSARIO 1nm from end of Rwy 05 but in line with Rwy HDG (54) but the charts make it look as if it is slightly to left of Rwy HDG, why I don't know considering the hills are on your left.EDIT:Just noticed another difference.AFAIK Field elevation = QNH - QFECharts show GELO & ROSARIO QNH-QFE as 140ft yet sat on Rwy 05 in the 767 show Rwy alt as 200 & FMC shows it as 192ft.!!!
September 2, 200223 yr Hi MikeHey it's good to see another PIC group flight. Thanks for the heads up EMail about the flight. I will try my very best to join in, providing my Job dosen't get in the way. I happen to be scheduled to work that day even though it's a sunday. However I should be home before 1800Z. Sounds like it will be a real challenge with the hairy approach that guys are talking about in this post. I'm up for a good challenge though, If everything works right, I'll see you there.Gary W. September 2, 200223 yr Hi,I have programmed two approaches to Rwy30 of Ponta Delgada, Azores. A LOC DME Circle to land and a LOC DME Straight-in landing. The data came from Jeppesen LPPD chart 11-1.I have uploaded a LPPD-apps.zip to www.navdata.at. You can also find it at my homepage in the downloads section.
September 5, 200223 yr Really looking forward to this flight! I hope we are able to show up in force and put on a good show for our controller friends in Portugal. Be sure to read the post by Pedro Rodrigues as it adds some very valuable tips for the Madiera landing.
September 6, 200223 yr Just a question..is FL370 a valid altitude for west traffic?I noticed you have the routing as 360 eastbound and 370 westbound. For some reason I thought with RVSM you still went even FL west and odd FL east..I'm doing a test flight now as I type this - and I see two guys headed my way same route opposite direction same FL..things that make you go hmmmm...Ian.
September 6, 200223 yr is FL370 a valid altitude for west traffic?I noticed you have the routing as 360 eastbound and 370 westbound. For some reason I thought with RVSM you still went even FL west and odd FL east..>>>>>>>>>> in fact there are some excepcions (almost all) for ATS routes in portugal and spain at least; also almost all traffic mainly in portugal has the direction north-south and not east-west like in most part of europe; due to that fact you normally and convencionally fly for example FL 250 to the east and to the north and FL 260 in the opposite way, to the west or to the south; in portugal it happens the opposite due to those facts;so, if you are planning a flight for example from amsterdam to funchal or to lisbon, you can choose FL 340 if the airways permits that but be aware that flight level could be changed by the ATC when you enter portuguese or spanish airspace, to FL 350 or to FL330 or even other due to other reasonsif someone could explain better and if this explanation is not so consistent, I would appreciate! Thanks, harpsi
