October 10, 200421 yr Hi,I was wondering if PIC V2 also have ACARS like PMDG has. Thanks allot for the upcomming addon,
October 10, 200421 yr I hope not as current PMDG aircraft do not have an ACARShowever, it would be interesting to see if PIC does have a working ACARS. CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
October 11, 200421 yr "AIRCRAFT COMMUNICATIONS ADDRESSING AND REPORTING SYSTEM isa digital data link system transmitted via VHF radio which allows airline flight operations departments to communicate with the various aircraft in their fleet. This VHF digital transmission system, used by many civilian aircraft and business jets, can be likened to "email for airplanes," as the registration of each aircraft is it's unique address in the system developed by aeronautical radio giant ARINC (Aeronautical Radio, Inc.). Traffic is routed via ARINC computers to the proper company, relieving some of the necessity for routine voice communication with the company. With ACARS, such routine items as departure reports, arrival reports, passenger loads, fuel data, engine performance data, and much more, can be requested by the company and retrieved from the aircraft at automatic intervals. Before the advent of ACARS, flight crews had to use VHF to relay this data to their operations on the ground."Very neat, but I fail to see how it could be used in a simulator. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
October 11, 200421 yr A messages subset is implemented in FSAcars, the messages are sent/received in a web based global "radio" and also in some VA. The plane also has an acars gauge to view/send the messages. Right now it's beeing used for: Pilot comunicating between them and pilot to VA manager. One of the neat possibilities that acars allow is to know were the planes are. Some VA implemented a map that shows that. A good example of a VA using acars is http://www.globecargo.org.As far I know PS1 is the only plane implementing acars but I don't know if the uplink is implemented. This is done by an application available here:http://www.hoppie.nl/acars747/Jos
October 11, 200421 yr ... but who or what should the ACARS communicate with?Of course it would be nice to have this feature, but I really don't know how communication should work. You probably could use it online on VATSIM to communicate with others using PICv2, too, but which "permanent" information should it read? Does FS2004 provide informations interesting for an ACARS function?GreetingsHenni
October 11, 200421 yr Author The main reason why I need/want ACARS, is that it is usefull for BLOCK times like BLOCK OFF, TIME OFF and etc.The second reason, which I think it worked for PMDG is the request mode like requestion the Arrival WX and RWY.
October 11, 200421 yr I'm sorry, are you saying that in the PMDG you can make the "request weather" function work in the ACARS menu? If so could you please tell me, I would like to know how, I can't seem to make mine work.-Mikkel
October 11, 200421 yr Author Mikkel,As I saw on some screenshots of the FMC at preciscionmanuals.comthey have atleast the BLOCK times and also an updated ACARS menu in accordance to the NG of PMDG.Look at the pics and you see. www.precisionmanuals.comPS. It looks like they have, I don't telling you that they realy had, but the ACARS page is containing sensor options and such.
October 11, 200421 yr Yes they do have the BLOCK times but that's about it in the ACARS menu. The req. wrx. function is not operational.-Mikkel
October 11, 200421 yr It's possible to receive weather info:AS2004/FSMeteo polling;Retrieving directly from FS;These two methods only give you meteo around you, not global one. I'm not familiar with FSMeteo retrieve. You can ask VATSIM/IVAO/NOAA metar sources. This will give you a global coverage but not what you will could find in FS2004.Regarding ATIS don't have a clue. Can find the rwy in use, nothing more and only with multiplayer off..Jos
October 12, 200421 yr Look for "b757-67_communications_and_radar_with_acars.zip" In the AVSIM Library.
October 12, 200421 yr JimThanks a lot for the link, how can I miss it? Now my problem is that I have the page description for 767 and acars image for the 742. One interesting thing is that to make the acars gauge correct I will need to integrate FSelcal with fsacars.ThanksJos
