May 3, 200224 yr I'm building a new system shortly, and would want to install my existing copy of Windows XP onto it (although I'll be using the same HD, I figure an OS re-install is necessary with a new mobo).Regarding the MS validation process for XP: has anyone run into issues with this? I understand that maybe the NIC is the most weighted component in the "check-sum" equation, and this will be the same as currently used- in fact it's just a new mobo, CPU and DDR memory at the moment. Thanks for any help- I've also heard the validation process is reset by MS after 120 days- or so I read in PC World a few months ago. Anyone that can validate that? Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
May 3, 200224 yr A somwhat "weighty tome", its more than enough information on the MS Activation process.http://www.licenturion.com/xp/fully-licensed-wpa.txtCheers,

May 4, 200224 yr I used the revalidation process on my wife's computer. Why I validated when the computer was experiencing problems is the boner of the year for me. All the process did was bring up a screen that said you need to call this number, which I did on a tiny cell phone (another big mistake because the keys are very tiny and you will need to key in a whole bunch of numbers). I followed the usual, if this, if that, hit key, and eventually keyed in the bunch of numbers. When done, the revalidation process was done and the annoying icon went away. Bill Sieffert

November 15, 201015 yr I've done that twice. XP validated on-line with no problems. Once you're past the 120 day point the validation clouds go away, the sun comes out, the birds start chirping and everything is good.
