New AS2004 Screenshots - Radar and more...

Damian,Looks great. One question. From where do we import the flightplan? I only use FSBuild and then print out my FP and then input it manually into my FMC. How would this be able to be imported? Can we manually input the major VOR's along our route into AS2 for the route based wind smoothing? This would help those that do not use FS's default flight planner.

Hi Eric,You enter the plan using the IMPORT button in this case (on the flightplan menu). Just export your FSbuild plan to FS2004 format (.PLN) and then select it in AS2004. All waypoints are calculated based on lat/lon so VORs are not important.. hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Hi Damian...I currently use wxRe and would not fly without it. I have a homebuilt cockpit A330 and I woul like ot get the Raar on a remote computer using Wide FS. I have read the post regarding this and it appears a little confusing..will you try and bring some clarity to this feature...Regards.Sal

Hi Jack,Sort of. Remember this is a module, not a gauge, so it does not go into your panel. It pulls up as an overlay display for any view you may have. There are two modes, the mini window (shown on the external shots) and the full-size window (shown on the VC DC3 views). You can use either or and position them appropriately for a pseudo-gauge look, depending on what view you currently have.A full blown realistic panel GAUGE, simulating an actual aviation weather radar, with all operational modes and features is in the works. What we have currently is a great in-sim functional radar with weather data display also, but it is a display MODULE, not a gauge.Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Hi Sal,The radar is an FS9 MODULE, not an external application, so it cannot run independant of FS9. You COULD run WideView, with another copy of FS on the second computer, and use that to display the module (as well as run other external apps like AS2004).An external display application IS in the works for the near future...Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Any chance of "cleaning up" the mini RADAR display to eliminate the lettering etc? In terms of it's use (similar to WEATHER CENTER) the window can often be nicely postioned as a overlay to another CRT guage. However, I don't believe that many real world weather RADAR screens have "ACTIVE RADAR" in big blue letters across the top, nor "SITUATION DISPLAY" in red letters across the bottom.Minor nitpick, but in WC it kinda detracts from the feeling and atmosphere, IMHO. Those of us who buy it will know what it is, and, I'm sure give the properly due accolades in any screen shot postings. Thanks for listening.Joe LorencVice President, Carolina Operations, VN7 Networkhttp://www.vn7network.com/
