That's for the help Jim.I don't know if I was clear in my post, however. The clouds that disappear are directly under the plane, not in the distance.Does that make a difference? It happens during the update and always at a high altitude.thanks,Scott

OK, we need to know your system specs. and a copy and paste of your AS2004.ini file. We'll take a look and see what we can do. BTW are you using the Alpha2 version?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Jim,Here's my configuration file. I am using Alpha 2. OK, thanks. Things to try:In FS lock your framerate to a reasonable number.Try some flights with TAF Processing OFF.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Jim,My framerates have always been locked at 20 fps.I tried what you said and I am still getting the same results. I hope this is fixed in the upcoming release because I really ruins an outstanding program. It's not cool to be flying over complete overcast and then all of sudden clear skies below you.Hope it's fixed soon.I've also noticed somthing else. When I load a flight plan and have wind smoothing checked AS2004 refreshes and I'm seeing the destination weather at the departure airport.Any thoughts on that? Thanks again for your help

Hit refresh again and see if the weather snaps back the way it should be.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Scott and Jim,After about 20hrs with AS2004 with the update. I have decided to turn off wind smoothing. It does what it's supposed to do but I to noticed the cloud pop ups. With the Wind Smoothing off the only time I have a major wind shift is when I pass a front. And it's never caused any major problems with the PMDG 737.

Hi Damian and Jim,I was doing a flight today from KDEN to KPHL. If you check the winds at FL330 there is a very strong bend in the jet stream over Illinois and Indiana. My AS2K4 ini setting are very close to the ones that you received. I too got major winds swings from the change of wind directions from the jet stream. However the reason I am writing is this same cloud pop out issue. Each time AS2004 updated, the clouds would disappear and then reform exactly what it was suppose to be. I had a very think cloud deck at FL210, however when AS updated it would get clear, and then the clouds would reform. I can prevent this with longer update cycles. Right now I am set at an update every 60 minutes, however on my flight it was set at every 30 minutes. I am using the PMDG 737NG at was flying at FL330 when this occured. I don't think that TAF processing should have that affect on the cloud populating issue.Other than this major flaw everything else went very well.CheersBob Johnson

So you're saying you don't have cloud disappearances with wind smoothing off? What I've done to avoid the "cloud pops" is set the ceiling suppression well above my flight level. It seems to work well. Then I refresh closer to destination. Of course, the data is a little old. But I guess it will have to make do until the issue is fixed.Other than the cloud pops. It's a great program. I don't want to use anything else.

Hi Jim,I enjoy the program immensily but I am getting dramatic cloud pop outs also. I was wondering if you could look at my config file and make any suggestions. Hi guys,Are you sure you're not talking about the visibility render? FS9 always renders lower vis as an overcast stratus layer, and when the visibility goes higher, the "vis layer" will of course vanish. If you're not happy with this effect you can disable visibility smoothing, but then your later vis transitions will be abrupt. Try it though, it may work out well for you...Does this help?Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Hi Damian, please see my post, the point about clouds pop out is NOT a visibility issue, AS does that just fine, what I am talking about are clouds that vanish quickly after a online update and then re-appear (build up) a couple of seconds after the update to the same cloud formation as prior to the update.here are my settings for AS://wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = D:Program FilesActiveSky wxREExportPath = D:Program FilesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = defcycle02Z.wxdDisableCloudTransitions = FalseDisableMessages = FalseLowBandwidthWinds = FalseExportMetars = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 15FDUpdateInterval = 45UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUseShortTermTAF = TrueWindsAloftSimulation = TrueFS2004Writes = TrueIdlePriority = TrueVATSIMMetars = FalseDefaultForceRange = 60ZuluConversion = -6RainVisReduction = TrueOvercastHorizonVis = FalseDisableForceWindUpdates = FalseTAFProcessing = TrueWakeTurb = TrueDisableUpdatesWhenForced = FalseStartPaused = FalseCloudTransitionInterval = 5MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEProxyPort = 80Bob Johnson
