Hi Claudio,NIL reports should not be new, but can happen at any time. Which station(s) are you getting this at? FWIW you can enable TAF processing which should bypass NIL reports and use nearby forecast data.

Hi Carlos,The effect you are describing sounds normal. Each time the direction or speed changes (every second via FSUIPC smoothing) your IAS will be affected, afterall you will have a new headwind component. A gradual increase in IAS followed by decrease is a standard side-effect of increasing headwind component shears (happens in real life too).It really sounds like you could take advantage of registered FSUIPC, and set the smoothing interval so that changes happen more gradual. However, I don't understand why your 737 isn't handling these changes well at the default 5kts/deg per sec interval. Autothrottle/pitch changes to react to the changing wind environment are normal and realistic, but should not be extreme. I have tested the PMDG 737 many times with unregistered FSUIPC (although I use the PM MCP and GC without the PMDG panel) and have never seen anything out of the ordinary (since FSUIPC 3.307 and elimination of shifts anyhow). One suggestion to try: Disable direct wind control in AS and let FS handle the target ambient wind value. Remember, FS and AS must be restarted after disabling DWC and saving options (you'll get a reminder message about this). This will result in occasional strange wind directions (per FS9 interpolation bug) but will also have a secondary wind smoothing effect to go along-side with FSUIPC wind smoothing, making changes more gradual. You may prefer this solution. If not, the other option is to go with registered FSUIPC and set your interval to something like 1kts/deg per second so that you won't notice IAS changes. You'll also get an assortment of other cool facilities in FSUIPC to make your 737 flights more realistic.I'd love to hear from other PMDG 737 users as well (with or without registered FSUIPC) and get their opinions on this subject. Is the default 5kts/deg per second smoothing interval yielding realistic results for you? Does disabling direct wind control have a positive effect? Those with registered FSUIPC: What smoothing interval settings are working best for you? Thanks Carlos and all!

Hi Damian, I'll try your suggestions and will report to you ASAP.And thanks to YOU (and Jim) for a great program and dedication to your costumers.Carlos.

>Hi Michael,>>It is fixed, and manual refreshes or auto refreshes caused by>loading a new wx snapshot, crashing the aircraft, changing>position, saving options, etc, will not reset the timer. The reason for this is to>provide a consistent update-interval refresh (despite other>refreshes) of all FS9 station wx data so that clouds do not>pop out.>>Concerning stations outside 300nm... this could also be>normal, it depends on the area. Hi Damian, after playing a little with FSUIPC, I think I've found a balance where the wind smoothing won't cause such noticeable jumps in the IAS. I've set it to 4 seconds for each degree/knot of change.Still, micro jumps can be seen in the IAS during the smoothing process (I can increase even more the smoothing period to make it even softer, I'll try with different settings). It can be what you said about the wind component and the IAS, though I think is too noticeable, perhaps it's because PMDG is more complex (in design) than other airplanes and these IAS variations can be seen very easily in the displays.I wish I could record a video, so I can show you these (now little) jumps while the wind smoothing process. If it's normal, please disregard this post. Though, I would love to hear the experiences of other PMDG users.Best regards,Carlos.

Woot! Muchos Betta!!! WTG guys.

"Woot! Muchos Betta!!! WTG guys."What he said!Unless it wasn't a compliment. Then, insert words of high praise!ThanksJackD

How could you tell? ;)Did the existing perma-rain just get heavier?

Yesterday i saw it departing from LIRA, i always have TAF processing enabled.

Hi Claudio,Well all seems good at the moment. I think it was a temporary data issue on the wx source side or possibly the station. I will keep an eye on this. If it happens again for you let me know. Thanks!!!-Damian

Thank you very much for this great update !!!

Hi Damian,Re Wind smoothing.I have just flown my first flight with the new build and new FSUIPC (registered) using Widefs.Flight was from Birmingham (UK) to Malta, on line using VATSIM weather and in the PMDG 738.On climb out, with clouds about I noticed the IAS jumping +/- about 30 kts which did affect the V/S but at no time did it trip the A/P, just somewhat bumpy. I put this down to turbulance given the current weather over the UK and the proximity of the clouds. This IAS change started a bit below FL100 and cleared once above FL200.At the same time the trend vector was moving slightly from side to side but the wind direction arrow remained stable both in the PMDG ND display and in the SB TCAS display.Settings.I loaded the flight plan into AS2004 and had the default settings set in AS2004 apart fromOnline UpdatesVATSIM Online WeatherGlobal Area WritesFSUIPCWind smoothing set to 2kts/degrees per second (as you mentioned in one post)Smooth only when airborneAllow gusts in upper windsVisiblity - smoothing set to 10% every 2 secondsTechnical - Smooth IAS for external programsAll other settings unchecked.I can live with this but may try wind smoothing set to 5kts/degrees per second. From the time I used to fly the PSS Airbus in FS2002 I think those pilots may experience more effects as that aircraft seemed more sensitive to wind shifts. However the FS9 update for the Airbus may have cured it, I wouldn't know as it has always crashed FS9 for me.Hope the above helps.

Hi Damian, Today I decided to try something new, I've been having the idea that there's was something wrong in my end, and that I was the only one with this IAS problem.I uninstalled and reinstalled everything again (AS2004), applied the latest patch, deleted the FSUIPC config file, and then fire up FS2004 again, reset all the settings to the values of my liking (in AS2004 and registered FSUIPC), and today I experienced the first very very smooth flight with my PMDG 737. I'll fly two other flights during the weekend to confirm that this method has solved the issue, and will report back to you.Have a great weekend all,Carlos.

Damien,Currently level at FL370. I'm experiencing winds of 028/80. The current METAR shows FL340 319/67 and FL390 316/78. I have Disable Direct Wind Control UNCHECKED.Effectively, the winds are being generated almost 70 degrees off of the reported information. This is the only anomaly that seems to be persistent. The good news is that the winds are stable - they are not shifting back and forth between what is reported and these somewhat erroneous values (that was happening prior to this build). Ok, I just transitioned into another reporting area and the winds are showing in FS9 as 252/50. Reported winds are 321/65 and 317/79. So again, I am seeing wind direction that is roughly 70 degrees off of what is reported in the METAR.-michael

Outstanding work! Just completed first flight in about three weeks, as I was specifically waiting for this updated. Winds aloft were rock solid the entire way. Also, had fairly low visibility due to haze for the entire flight (Dallas to Cincinatti), even at FL330. I don't know if that is due to the recent fixes or just different weather conditions than I usually have, but in that past it always seemed like unlimited visibity once you got up to the flight levels. Anyway, it was an interesting change of pace. I'm very happy with this version so far. Thanks for the continual improvements to this product!Mark Kuebeler
