Hi Michael,Are you using the aloft predictability or drift rate effect options? If so, it could be the reason. That would be normal. It kind of sounds like your precitability is at 0. To disable these, set wind drift rate interval to 0 and aloft predictability to 100.If that's not it, this would be the first report of inconsistent wind values when using DWC (direct wind control). Perhaps some obscure bug depending on your flight plan and/or route and/or altitude? If you can duplicate this effect consistently with a certain wx set/flightplan, please let me know... Any other users with similar experiences? Thanks!!

Hi Mark,Thanks for the feedback!Actually, while climbing above 10K, you vis will now transition slowly to your max vis setting in AS2004 (if enforced) or your FS9 max visibility range setting. Since AS2004 max vis of 50sm is enforced by default (for performance reasons), you'll get max 50sm vis.You can increase this up to whatever value you desire... or disable AS2004 vis enforcement and use FS9's setting insead. FS2004 performance will decrease but depending on your system this may not be a big deal...Hope that helps!

>It kind of sounds like your precitability is at 0. >To disable these, set wind drift rate interval to 0 and aloft>predictability to 100.Damien,You are exactly right - my predicatability was at 0. Wind drift was also at 0. I've set predictability to 100 and will go fly it again later today. Thanks for the explanation.-michael

Hi Carlos,Thanks for the info... I wonder, could it be the "smooth IAS for external programs" option in FSUIPC? Maybe it was disabled before for some reason?

>I've set predictability to 100 and will>go fly it again later today.Damien,Glad to report that I'm at FL390 and winds in FS9 are precisely what is reported. All through the climbout the numbers are matching up exactly. Thanks for the pointer and nice job with this latest release. -michael

What is the FS9 visibility setting? Is that Sight Distance? I've got that set to 90nm and Cloud Draw Distance to 50nm. I would definitely like to get some better visibility above 10K. I made two flights today and I feel like I should've logged it as actual instrument time since I could not make out the horizon whatsoever. I'll start with disabling "Enforce Visibility Limits" and see what that does.Mark Kuebeler

Just finisged a flight with the new Beta. Some observations. While Downloading the wx during flight the winds are zeroing although in AS window they are giving a value of +10 knots.During landing I was observing the following outside my cockpithttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87192.jpgThis is the actual metarhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87195.jpgRegardsChris

Damian,in respect to your posting above, I found similar (not the same but similar) problems this morning.I stood on the ground in Miami, online weather showed no winds at no speed but Fs9 gave me winds 230/02. I haven't paid much notice to the aloft winds during my flight to Kord but when I check the winds aftre touchdown they seemed to be right. However, during my flight I have seen numerous reportings of no wind/no speed. That struck me as odd but since I flew at FL 340, It didn't bother me at allGreat update by the way.Luc 'Glaudrung' Brusselmans

Damien and Jim, Have been flying all week with this, since the day it came out, and wanted to let you know, this is by far your best work yet. I am very happy with it, even at the upper levels of the atmosphere :) thanks for all of your hard work and time in getting it this far. Job well done, take care. GARY

Hi Chris,Please update to B131 at the top of this thread.Edit: My eyes are bad and I cannot make out any data from the panel! Please describe what was happening!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Thanks for the update! However, I've noticed wind shifts now seem to be worse for me with build 131 and FSUIPC 3.308 (unreg). At first I installed 131 on top of 115, but I was having wind shifts of up to 180* playing around in the PHX area. Removed all the FSUIPC files, uninstalled AS2004 and started with a clean copy of build 131 and FSUIPC 3.308. Testing that out right now I took off out of Oakland and leveled off at 4500 where the wind is now going between 263 at 5 and 303 at 5, and anywhere in between. Actually, just checked it out again and wind direction is all over the place with speed varying too. It will jump around by 10s of degrees, then start spinning rapidly counterclockwise. Here's my cfg://AS2004 configuration file Build 131[General]WindowPosX = 2895WindowPosY = 2820DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50LastPlanFolder = NONEIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 0AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks,Graham

Hi Graham,2 things:1. Please confirm that in the main modules folder you have FSUIPC 3.308. This needs to be a copy and paste procedure.2. Check ON Disable Direct Winds Control. Save and exit AS and FS.I use the unregistered version and do not see the wind flips.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,I've done as you suggested and I'm testing it out now. Just straight out of Oakland again and I wasn't seeing anything dramatic until the wind direction went from 248 to 098 and back in a second out of 4000. FL030: 270/03 (20.6) FL060: 163/11 (20.7)Edit. I just did a departure out of Phoenix and almost immediatly after takeoff the wind was all over the place. I'm going to revert to 115 and FSUIPC 3.30, it had wind shifts, but nothing as extreme as what I'm seeing with build 131Thanks,Graham
